  1. Hi everyone i just have one question well two, first thing i was wondering about the sending originals it is refereing to stuff like flight tickets and receipts etc they aren't referring to I-129F forms and G-325a....when my fiancee is interviewed does she have to have copies of the I-129F and G-325a or orignials or are oringials sent in at start of application. I'm really confused. last question is does the USCIS excepts personal checks or do they have to be chashier checks? Thanks for your help everyone...i just don't want to mess this up.

i sent copies of everything except what needed to be hand-signed (I-129F, both sets of the G-325a, and letters of intent to marry).

i am sending my fiance an exact replica of the packet i sent out (including copies of the above forms whether he needs them or not) and the originals of reciepts, cards, photos, etc. not sure what he'll need for the interview, so i'm just sending it all. i also have a copied packet for myself as well, just to have on-file.

i sent a personal check.

  2. here's a question. i've seen the term "touched" being used in timelines and i'm pretty sure that means exactly what it says - that the case has been looked at on a certain day for one reason or another. but how do you KNOW you've been touched? does it show up on the uscis.gov case update or something?

  3. Congrats on the NOA1, now give it 60 to 100 days for NOA2, or somewhere around there. :P

ah since ur profile says verment this quote seems a little high. Vermont is normally 30 to 45 days til NOA2, unless your like me and get a RFE. Congrats on getting to go through the quickest service centre and noa1.

that's exactly what i thought. i am VERY happy to be going through vermont.

    thanks everyone!

  4. I sent colour photocopies done on my print/photocopier at home for the passport stamps with the first set of forms sent in and for my interview I submitted a colour copy of my birth certificate. I offered the official at the embassy it in black and white but he said he'd like the colour one so yes you can do it in colour. I like you, thought it looked better and was easier to read.

same here - i had the option to scan and print colour at home, so i did. any documents with colour got printed that way. i don't see why it would make any difference at all these days.

  5. That brings up another question. If I can´t get citizenship ´cus if I do that I loose my brazilian one (and I don´t want to), what happens if we move to Brasil for a while and then go back to US? I mean, after getting my green card is there something else down the road for me without losing my own citizenship?

how would brasil know you are also potentially a u.s. citizen (when the time comes)? i believe at least that for the u.k., unless you go to a specific government building and denounce your citizenship, you are always one - same with the u.s. people just carry two passports so that getting into either country is simple and always legal.

i could be wrong, but this is what i have previously read accounts of. i guess it's not so easy elsewhere...

  6. this might just be more for my own sanity, but i am sending off my I-129F tomorrow and have just listed everything in my cover letter of what i'm including in the package. this seems to be my final list (note - ambiguous titles such as "me", "him", and "his sister" are typed as actual names in the letter):

    - Payment (check) in the amount of $170.

    - I-129F

    - I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 19, explanation of meeting in

    person/description of relationship.

    - G-325A and passport style photo (me)

    - G-325A and passport style photo (him)

    - Copy of U.S. Passport (me)

    - Signed letters certifying intent to marry (me and him)

    - Proof of having met in person in the past two years

    - 13 various color photographs of us together

    - Copy of his passport - related pages with stamps from

    immigration upon U.S. entry.

    - Copy of my passport, with U.K. visas and stamps from

immigration upon U.K. entry. (see above supplied copy of U.S. passport)

    - Copy of Hotel Reservation for us in April 2004

    - Proof of ongoing relationship

    - Signed letter from his sister acknowledging our ongoing relationship, cohabitation, and engagement.

    - Copies of Birthday and Christmas cards to me from him.

    - Copies of Thank You notes, Best Wishes cards, Christmas cards, and postcards

from friends and family, addressing us as a couple.

    - Copies of various dated invoices, account/bank/university letters, bills, and payslips sent to the same

U.K. address for both of us, as proof of living together in Manchester, England for over a year.

    - Copy of Engagement card from his sister and family.

    - Copy of engagement ring receipt and diamond inspection sheet in his name.

i really think that's all i can possibly add to this. i have a few extra bits and baubs that would only really be repeating the above, so i have decided not to include them (more cards, photos, etc). does this seem pretty complete to you guys? i can't wait to send this thing out and get rid of some of the stress...

  7. i just finished my write-up of this. it ended up being two paragraphs (8 extended lines) stating the date we met, why he was in the U.S. on that date, how we kept in touch, the dates we visited each other and the addresses where we stayed (family homes), the reason and dates i moved to the u.k. for a year and lived with him, how long we lived together/dated, and the date we got engaged.

i think i included enough info for them. i HOPE i did. i'm also going to have his sister (who lived down the street from us) write a short letter reiterating the details and possibly mentioning attending our engagement party.

it's weird compacting the relationship into such bite-sized pieces...

  8. i am in the process of gathering together everything for the I-129F, but am thinking ahead for what my u.k. fiance needs for his application and interview. i have read about sending away and getting police records or something of that sort, that would take about 40 days to arrive. what sort of required paperwork or forms should he start gathering now, to save us time in the future? if there is a list somewhere on the site, just re-direct me there

also, should i include a letter signed by us both in the I-129F stating our engagement and intent to marry? can it be a faxed copy from england, or should it be an original?

  9. Guide

And no need to get your knickers in a twist :)

interesting that in the guide, it shows 'NONE' in only the first box for certain questions (like 'list all children'), but it's been advised to put 'NONE' or "N/A' in every empty box.

The box for list all children can be counted as one question with lots of spaces for those it applies to, so one NONE is sufficient. If you had one child you would put their name in the first box and leave the rest blank, you wouldn't put NONE in the 2nd box, 3rd box, etc. I would say its common sense but that seems to be lost on some people......

(If you're being sarcastic then maybe this can just clear it up for other people, because you know someone else will ask)

    i wasn't being sarcastic.

    rockamandy,

I suspect that some people sometimes misunderstand advice (both the advice they receive and the advice they give).

unfortunately it's the internet, and i wouldn't expect anything less.

  10. any other suggestions of proof that we've been living together?

(all of these newbie questions, i know...)

Side note: what visa status have you been living in the UK with? Have you investigated whether or not London would accept an I-130 from you? (DCF case) You may be eligible if you have been living there for 2 years, even if you do not have an ILR stamp.

As Yodrak suggest, look in the AOS forum for ideas of proof of living togetheer. You don't have to prove co-mingling of your finances or anything---mail addressed to you each individually at the same address shows that you are living in the same place.

yep, i am going to use a lot of the mail we have received, as well as photos of us together and letters from his sister, mum, and possibly his best mate stating we have been living together. i am here on a student visa, but will be leaving about 4 months short of 2 years.

  11. this was a reply to another post, but since it has to do with the exact opposite of that post (possibly sending TOO much information), i have decided to ask it here. it is in regards to proof of having met/seen your fiance within the past 2 years of sending in the I-129F:

my problem is that i have been LIVING with my fiance for the better part of the last 2 years. we have loads of photographs of us together, but no emails, phone logs, texts, flight tickets, etc. because we just haven't done any of that! i am going to describe the situation in the letter, and include my pay stubs and bank statements and anything with my name and u.k. address on it (along with the same from him), just to show we have been residing at the same address. i *think* our original mobile phone plan has both of our names on it, even though it was hand-written and my name isn't on the electronic bills. the pay stubs, bank statements, and university invoices i have date from october/november 2004-january 2006. he pays all of the bills, so they're all in his name.

any other suggestions of proof that we've been living together?

(all of these newbie questions, i know...)
