  1. I am telling you what, I got spoiled this year! Best part was it was our first Christmas together!

From my hubby I got a diamond necklace, perfume, a camp kitchen, several other wonderful things!

He really went ove board. We both agreed though that this year was different.

From my mummy and dad...I got a hand made pottery baking dish that is simply amazing, Coco Chanel perfume, and a cook book. Chris got a back packing stove and lantern...loads of hiking books! My sister and brother inlaw got me a Pandora Bracelet! Check them out if you are not familiar with them! Really neat!

Hope everyone is enjoying their family and friends this holiday!

I just googled the pandora bracelet and they're very cool! Now I want one

I know I love it!! I am not really a Charm bracelet sorta girl but these you can really fill up or just wear a few charms! It is really unique.

My sister works for a really great jewelry store and she happens to get them at a discount!! So we all got one!

    I was spoiled.

  2. We hope you all enjoy the meet up! We'd love to go however Chris' family is flying in from England for a few weeks so we won't be able to make the trip.

    Maybe next time!

    :star:

Sorry that you won't be able to join us this time. But I hope that you'll have a great time with Chris' family!

    Thanks! We will I hope!

    You all have fun!

  4. Christmas Eve my husband and I are having my parents over for dinner. Then on Christmas morning we are going over to their house for breakfast and champagne and to open presents. Then off to my grandmothers house to sit with about 20 other people in a tiny little living room. I am sure we will eat. I'd love to skip this part this year but it is a must.

Christmas night my husband and I are going to watch a movie and relax on the sofa.

We normally go to a Christmas Eve service but we are skipping it this year.

  5. I miss a real curry n chips

I had a real curry and chips last week. Not to rub it in or anything.

Really though Lisa, at The World Market, they sell jarred curries. Typically I am against most jarred sauces because I love making homemade. But these curries are fantastic. They have a butter chicken sauce, Tika, a lemon and coconut...and they all are so good. We can even get Naan bread that is decent enough.

There are a few that are higher fat and calories but for the most part they are really reasonable.

I totally recomend them for any one missing a curry.

I can't help you with the chips guys. Haven't been able to do those yet. However the steak fries come close when we make fish and chips.

The one thing I really miss is sausage. When we were visiting my inlaws last week I got to eat them a few different times! Yummo.

  6. Ohh the Smokey Mountains are so beautiful. HOWEVER we live in the Smokies so we opted for some other mountains.

My husband and I went to Colorado fo our honeymoon. We were there for 2 weeks. We went to some hot springs, stayed in some fancy hotels, and also camped. Loved it.

I really wanted to go to Italy but in the end we couldn't go of course. We both were really happy with the way our trip turned out! Have a great honeymoon. :star:

  7. That original article is nothing but a bunch of Chicken Little #######, if you ask me. 'The indignity of traveling to America'...give me a break. Then the only examples the author gives are of overstays. Well if the travel was so bad, and America was so unwelcoming, then why are they overstaying?

Then the author precedes to say how it's nothing to do with 'Arabs or Muslims' then spouts figures starting from what? 9/11. First of all, I think the author was pretty rude....a much better thing to say was it's supposedly nothing to do with '9/11' not just a blanket 'Arabs or Muslims'. And then the rest peppered with words like 'jihadist' and talk of the terror alert system.

Then there's speak of 45 days being 'laborious' for a travel visa. Hah, everyone on here should only be so lucky!

Finally, I'm SICK to death of hearing nothing but people whine & loading their complaints with emotionally charged nonsense. No one is 'entitled' automatic entry into the US...just like no American is 'entitled' automatic entry into every other country. I personally was detained in the UK for 9 hours cos they thought I was trying to 'sneak' in....yes, it sucked...but they had a right to ensure that I checked out....and I didn't have a 'right' to demand that they let me in as to preserve my 'dignity'

Every American who has a friend abroad has heard some story about the absurd hassle and humiliation of entering or exiting the United States.

We're all becoming a global bunch of oversensitive crybabies with feelings of entitlement. 'I want it all and I want it delivered, and if you deny my wishes, you're being 'unwelcoming and compromising my dignity and subjecting me to humiliation' Gimme a break!!!!! Suck it up!

    AMEN!

I've traveled all over the world. There are hassels everywhere. Big bunch of whiners we all have become. The whole effin' world almost.

My inlaws, yes I know they are JUST from England, have experienced nothing but kindness. They traveled for the first time ever on a flight to Atlanta and thought it was brilliant. Now they have been back several times and are heading back over in a month.

  8. As others have said, I guess it is a bit easier for guys to make friends! My husband has a great group of male friends.

They are even building a recording studio together at our new house! They all say that they are paying rent early for use of it! It really warms my heart to know he fits in.

A few ideas as I have moved around loads...it takes a while for anyone to make close friends I think. But perhaps join a few classes...Like yoga or an art class. Take a few classes at a community college. Something fun. Perhaps a neat cooking class. I met my friends in Charlotte (I moved there years ago without knowing a soul) by the pool. I'd go everyday, after work and just get to know the faces of who did the same! I met some great people.

Good friendships take time to develop. Don't get discouraged! Good luck everyone!

  9. I made a very non traditional one for thanksgiving this year! Everyone loved it.

    It was so easy...

Pound Cake, Heavy whipping cream, pumpkin pie (can), crushed Graham Crakers....

I am going to make it again for sure.

  10. Kids + love to cuddle teddy bear + Mohammad = love Mohammad ??????

How is that disrespectful in their Prophet????

Not like he burned the teddy bear or nothing....

I read another article about this today that said a student defended this teacher, saying she asked what he(the boy) would like to name the teddy bear and he said Mohammad, because it's his own name. The little 7 year old came to his teacher's defense because he chose the name, it had nothing to do with the "prophet", and even so the child would mean it in a affectionate way not an insulting way even if it was after the specific Mohammad of Islam instead of his own name. Children usually give items name after something they like. If the teacher is punished for this, it's completely ridiculous. The child better not be punished either.

Poor lady already has been punished in my opinion. But yes I agree punished further is completely insane.

  11. Not enough information for me to understand why you even mentioned this.

If you don't want people who belong to this church to mention it, then why did you?

There are lots of things that are going to happen in this world that we will not understand or know before hand.

If you live fearful everyday of "future events" then how are you going to live?

What ever they are planning I am sure it will make the news.
