Thought I'd share a recent situation I had with Advanced Parole.

I applied for Adjustment of status from K1, I sent I-485, I-131 and I 765 all together.

I had to go back to the UK for a family emergency, so I visited the local info pass office to get emergency parole. Very fast and simple process.

It was granted but it was only valid for 90 days. I was advised it would not hinder my current applications.

Recently I received my EAD card in the mail, but not the Advanced Parole Document.

I called the Customer Service line and they advised me the document was sent the same time as my EAD card and to wait 30 days. I waited 30 days and still no document. I called again, this time I was told the document was never sent, but It was approved. I was then referred to a L2 officer who advised to me to reapply for advanced parole again with payment. The L2 officer said the document must have been lost in the mail !

All this didn't seem right, so I visited the info pass office. They advised me that my I-131 was approved when I asked for Emergency Parole, but it was only granted for a limited time (90 days) in my case. So I have to reapply for Advanced Parole, but no extra payment is required due to a pending I-485.

Understandable I guess, I didn't ask enough questions at the time. Now I have to wait another 3 months for approval.

Hope this helps others with the process of Emergency Parole.

Seems like a waste of money doing the EAD before AOS, maybe my new card will get processed quicker since I've already had one. But I doubt it. We will see.

I'm looking for some help with my I-485 and I-765 forms, I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar

Im came to the USA on a K1 visa and applied for the I-765 and It was approved only for 90 days.

I am now about to submit the I-485 packet. Can anyone tell me if I should submit another I-765 form again and mark the box for renewal, as the current EAD is due to expire. Do I have to pay again ?

Or should I submit a new application separately for a renewal. I read online that you dont need to pay a fee for the I-765 if you submit with the I-485. Its a bit confusing on the form.

Thank you for your advice, Yes I'm a legal resident in Qatar and have all the documents here ready for the interview. I will contact the embassy here in Qatar and see what they say.

I have recently had my K1 approved and asked to proceed with the medical and await the interview. I asked to have my interview in London, UK. However since its taken so long for the visa application to be processed, I have had to move to Qatar for work. I called up the Embassy in London and asked if they could transfer my case to Qatar, they said no... and advised me to start the process all over again ! I also sent a form to USCIS along with $400 to change the interview location, and they advised me that it will take 7 months to process, by which time the 4 months will be expired to complete the process.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice ?
