  1. Had my interview yesterday and we are approved!

Thanks to the many useful tips from the VJ community especially about having the W2 on hand, we avoided the dreaded 221g. Pick up is next Friday. God bless all who have shared their experiences and contributed to making this journey come to a successful end. Best of luck to all those who are still waiting for interview dates or actually waiting to interview.

My little concern however is that I forgot to update the Consular officer about the fact that my intending US address has changed so I emailed the Consulate this morning.

  2. Hello people here,

I am currently living in Ghana and my wife living in the u. s. We've been all the immigration stages up to NVC. Now our lawyer is asking for police clearance before tomoro. Questions

    1. which police department issues Clearance Letter (criminal check) in Accra.?

    2. Is it possible i cant get it withing 2-3 hrs?

    3. how much is it?

    4. after getting it can i just scan and email to it to our lawyer?

You need to go to the CID Headquarters in Accra near Danquah Circle. Go with your passport. I think it costs about GHS 60 or so. Explain that you need it expedited and you might be able to get some help from the Police force speeding things up.

  3. 3rd checklist!? :wow:NVC usually gives up to two checklists! You got really unlucky!

Congrats on your CC! Your NOA1 is May, 2013!? :wow: You were super patient! :star:

March, 2013!!?? :wow::wow::wow: You definitely win the prize of the longest wait time!:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Yes Austin...I guess I can look forward to taking the prize for most AOS checklists

I begged to be allowed to take the corrected form in to the interview but I was told that wasn't possible. So I just responded to the checklist and put it behind me. Plus I travelled to be with my husband for about a month and this helped to ease the pain of waiting as well

  4. I looked and it doesn't look like there is a seal on it. it has a licence no a certificate number the date says its form c says where we got married then has no. I think that may be the registrars number maybe then it has our names age, condition, rank or profession, residence at time of marriage, fathers name and surname, fathers profession. then it is signed by 2 witness's and us and the registrar. hope this helps. sorry I forgot I had the photo copy

    Thanks Lou-nic. Very helpful.

  5. our marriage certificate was green and white and it is rectangular really kinda long. we were married by the registrar in accra.

    Hello Lou-nic,

My husband and I had a church ceremony in Ghana and received the certificate that looks like what you have described after going through the needed steps for obtaining a marriage license from the AMA. We submitted our marriage certificate to the NVC and the NVC has checklisted it saying it is not an original bearing the seal from the authority they recognize.

Did you get married at the Registrar General's Dept and does your certificate bear some kind of a seal?

    Regards,

    Natanna

  6. Welcome to this wonderful site and long immigration journey. This journey is so long and frustrating, since NVC has started already with July packages, I guess you'll hear good news soon. I think there's an error on the date you received your DS-261/AOS: 2014-08-29, I tink it should be April and not August.

I pray we all get done with all this nightmare and unite with our loved ones.

Thank you. I have corrected the error on my timeline now.

The NVC stage seemed like it would be a breeze compared to the USCIS stage but looks like petitioning in the first half of 2013 was just poor timing. Keep running into delay after delay. :(

Like you, I pray we get out of this stage soon and don't face any more delays from here on out.

  7. they review the mail as it comes in. They will not go look for a piece of mail to complete a file. Your last scan date is the date the police certificate was scanned. JULY 18TH.

Well that is what I thought but when my husband called to check even before the 60-day notification, they mentioned that they had both packets and had actually scanned in the last packet on 21st July. Hence my hope that all my packets are being reviewed together.

But anyway, after dealing with all that happened with the USCIS and now what's going on with the NVC, nothing would surprise me. These guys don't seem to care much for genuine applications and the impact this very long process has on relationships so I'll keep hope alive but won't hold my breath.

  8. Lemme say that I finally decided to stop being a passive observer of this forum and create a VJ account because of you, Soloenta. You and some of the other members on here are so much fun that I just had to say something to you :)

Thank you all for making this very painful journey bearable.

My 60-day letter says documents were received on 25th June which is when the bulk of IV checklist response was mailed. However the Singapore Police certificate which took about 15days to complete was received on 18th July. Just keeping my fingers crossed that since they are still reviewing my earlier documents, they will include the Singapore report as well and not give it an additional 60days from 18th July.

Wish us all a happy ending to this immigration ordeal.
