Our case has been transferred too!
Not sure why or where to yet.
-
I got a letter extending my green card by 18 months yesterday.
-
I have flown to London and Glasgow on my extension letter with zero issues. I have a trip to the Virgin Islands and plan to visit the BVI once out there, which will require passport/GC checks and a flight to Paris in September, my extension letter gives a year from November 2017. I'm not so worried about US customs as they will be familiar with the letter but more boarding the flight in France with the letter and the language barrier but honestly I think it will be fine. The US customs officers I've had in the past have all treated the letter just as if it was a GC and not given it a second thought, I think you will be fine!

I checked online and my case status is:
On April 9, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number EACXXXX, at your local office.
-
For what it's worth, I assumed that since I handed in a sealed envelope at Immigration when arriving that I had already 'submitted' it. When filing I simply sent a photocopy of my vaccination page (the page which Kensington Drs handed back to me which lists all my vaccinations) in with my AOS, it had been ticked complete and signed by the Dr.
We never received an RFE but I have my Interview very soon so we shall see if it is mentioned...
-
Hello,
Haven't been following this thread closely so sorry if I am repeating anything already covered but we received the potential waiver notice and have just now been scheduled an interview. It kind of took me by surprise as I assumed it meant we wouldn't need one after all- should we be concerned?

Quick update on our progress:
I left to go back to England on the 1st July, in the week or so running up to my departure my AP/EAD card had not yet been approved. I submitted an expedite request based on financial loss (just under $40k, so in my eyes thats pretty substantial) it got declined. HOWEVER we contacted all our local congressmen/senators who agreed that it should qualify. One aide was particularly helpful, calling USCIS on our behalf and eventually the agreed to expedite it and overnight ship it to us so that I could travel!
It was the old style paper AP document. A couple of days into my trip my EAD card got approved- so I knew i'd have that waiting when I got back. I had the most pleasant immigration/customs experience yet travelling back to the US. I was nervous they would be asking all sorts of questions but the woman behind the desk said "Honey welcome home!" and made a point of addressing me by my married name, not my maiden name on my passport. She led me back to the scary back room to get a special stamp on my paper AP document. While I was in there my husband waited outside with our luggage, 3 male immigration officers rushed out to 'mess with him', they pretended that I had been detained and my husband would have to pay $500. When we were walking off to our connecting flight they all said 'congratulations' and couldn't have been nicer.
Anyway, i've been back a week now and I had a notice of potential interview waiver in the mail. Not sure if I should worry about this or not. I originally got my SSN when I first moved here so I was able to open a bank account etc. I will just need to update it with my married name now that I have my EAD to prove status. -
It's been well over a month for us and no contact has been made with an answer. We called last week and spoke to tier 2 officer that I must say was very rude and he basically said it could take another month, 3 months or 6 months. Good bye!!
We are devastated :-( and upset that no one can give us any info just that fact that they sent us an email to the wrong address and cannot resend it!
Had enough now! What's the point of an expedite request that could take months to process! The whole point of ours is financial loss!!!
I'm so sorry to hear this.
I just don't understand why it has to be so difficult to travel home for a reasonable amount of time under adverse circumstances. I can't see why travelling home to see sick relatives or for any other legitimate reason would qualify as 'abandoning' your visa. Travel is something a lot of people need to do fairly frequently in the modern world and it is unbelievably frustrating to have to wait for so long to be able to. And to add insult to injury, the way we must go about applying for this seems to be so confusing and incredibly unfair. I wish that the was something we could do to have the system changed.
-
I called and requested an expedite yesterday afternoon and received the same three updates in quick succession this morning. No email or missed calls so I guess we just wait and see?
If I don't hear anything soon then i'll call them.
Why is everything so unclear and confusing? The whole process seems to be designed to be completely illogical.
-
No, expedite requests go through USCIS not through a local office. Contact USCIS
There is so much conflicting information out there, it makes all of this so much harder! I already contacted them and now I just have to wait...
-
I think you will need to sign up for a USCIS username and password by following this link https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/disclaimer.do
That way the Case History shows up on the left side along side your Case Status at the Top.
Thank you for this! So helpful, I had no idea that I could see all that extra info!

Hi,
We have just returned from an info pass appointment where we attempted to expedite our AP application. While the officer was extremely nice and sympathetic she stated that field officers are unable to deal with expedites, only emergency travel requests. I have seen loads and loads of evidence all over the web of people receiving successful expedite through an info pass appointment, the USCIS' own webpage on expedite criteria suggests making an info pass information.
I have called USCIS and we have started a service request but I was hoping to be able to deal with this in person. Is the anything I can do? Has anyone else been turned away from an info pass for expedite requests?

I received the exact same email this morning! How strange.
Mine was relating to our old SRC case number (the K1 visa that we already have approved and I used to enter the US), the transfer was relating to August 2014. Which is the date our case WAS transferred- so the notice is correct but it is an old and irrelevant case update.
I called up USCIS and spoke to a woman who told me it was probably just a glitch in their system....
I filed our AOS in April and we had our biometrics in May but there was no update to either our AOS or EAD/AP case numbers....
-
Ok so this is strange.
I receive an email from USCIS this morning, with today's date on it. I opened it and it was an old update that we had already received about our old K1 Visa (SRC number)- It was notice that in August 2014 they transferred it to another office. I logged on to that case number status update and that is the 'new' case status despite my visa interview being scheduled, approved and me moving to the US! Why have they 'updated' my old case number?
ETA: Of course I also checked my MSC case numbers and they hadn't been updated
-
So here is everything I had:
My wife wrote an appeal letter to the USCIS field office director and hand signed it as to why she would like to go.
My brother wrote a letter and hand signed it as to why he would like her to come to the wedding.
The wedding card and invitation.
Proof in the form of paid receipts for deposits for my brothers wedding for the part that my wife and myself are funding.
proof of my wife having had filed the AOS, EAD and AP by sending it to the chicago lockbox.
notarized marrige license of my wife and myself.
The officer looked at all of this at the local office and asked if she has had her finger prints taken, she said no, so they took them then and there on the spot along with the pictures that are needed for all 3, AOS, EAD and AP. He then told us that they have decided to expedite the case so that the card can make it to her in time. He told her that if the card didnt come in on time, to come see the local field office and they would issue a document that would allow a single re entry into the US from Canada. and thats how things went.
Thats fantastic news! Congratulations and enjoy the wedding.
-
Thank you! Thats so helpful.
Unless we have made a silly mistake somewhere along the lines, or they don't accept the photocopy of my completed vaccination records then I'm hoping we'll be safe. You never know with this process though!
-
Most of RFE's I've seen is more evidence to prove that the USC has reached the income requirement to support the foreign spouse.
By this do you mean that they had filed and were under the required income or that they had filed and were on/or only just over the required income so they sent an RFE just to be safe?
We are over the minimum income by quite a bit now but my husband is a recent graduate so two years ago he was just making the requirement, as he was studying full time as well as working.

MASSACHUSETTS
Boston - I took my wife for her scheduled biometrics appointment on 1/14/14. In an effort to get some info for this thread I asked the woman at the front desk if they allow early walk-ins, this was her reply: "It depends on what the reason is. If you legitimately need to come at an earlier date they will allow it, but if you just walk in for no apparent reason, they may not."
Boston - Tried to do early walk in for my appointment in Lawrence, told them I worked in Boston and would have to take time off to go to Lawrence. They asked me if I couldn't make it on the original date, I said I could, just didn't want to take time off from work. does early walk-in speed up the 90day clock?
I assume so, as she told me she is sending in my stuff today. I don't know for certain though.
-
Update- We have purchased a car and it is insured no issue.
When we were both purchasing and insuring the car they confirmed that it is perfectly legal to drive in KY with an English driver's licence for a year if you are a non us citizen, even if you are living in KY.
Of course I am planning on getting my US drivers licence in due course but this takes off the pressure and means I can get used to the roads etc in the meantime.

We completed an early walk in biometrics today! The man looked at my appointment date and it was extremely busy so it was beneficial to both of us to move us forwards
-
Great! And we have the same NOA1.
Yes, you can try that. Try to go during the hours that they are not very busy. Good luck!
