  1. On your appointment letter it should say

    REQUEST FOR RESCHEDULING

If you are unable to appear at this time you may go on any FOLLOWING ................. at the same time noted above, as long as you appear before ............... If u do not have your biometrics taken by that date, your application will be considered abandoned.

    Doesnt your letter say that???

I think each district office has a different format. Ours required that we send in the letter with our choice of days (Wednesday or Saturday) and they'd reschedule us. In our case, it took five weeks.

I agree with the previous poster who suggested going to the district office. You're more likely to be successful if you explain the matter in person, and you might get your biometrics taken immediately.

    Good luck, and best wishes!

Thanks Ridley. We're going in tomorrow to the office. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

  2. Well,

    In our RFE it states:

"You are ineligible for interim employment authorization pursuant to Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 103.2(B)(10)(ii) until 90 days after the missing evidence is received."

    Ummmm....

After viewing other posts in this forum, I see that the USCIS losing paperwork is not uncommon. But because they can't find the things I included in my packet, my wife can't work for another 3 months? This seems a bit odd.

Has anyone had experience with the Employment Authorization related to the RFE?

Thanks everyone. I can't imagine how much more frustrated I would be without this forum.

  3. The guide recomends sending form I-693a and the instructions for I-485 state "vaccination supplement."

but...the paper given to her by the doctor in Serbia is called a "Vaccination Documentation Worksheet" to be used in conjuction with DS-2053.

Will the form that we have do? I hope so. lol. It's been a few months since I've had the pleasure of freaking out over tiny details. Here we go again. Weeeeeeeee.

    Thanks all.

  4. We are planning on having a marriage ceremony in Serbia this coming summer, and are about to submit our AOS this weekend.

Should I be filing an AP with my AOS? I don't know if having a marriage ceremony would be reason enough for them to grant AP.

When would I file the AP for a summer AP? Should I wait a couple more months?

I really tried going through the guides on this, but I would feel better getting some input from my fellow VJ'ers. This process would be unbearable without this site. =)

    Thanks all.

  5. We are back in California....how great it is to have my heart next to me.

Now.......we need a marriage certificate.....Los Angeles county and Orange County both look like they take 5-6 weeks to process a Certificate.

Any suggestions. I would like to get the copy of my AOS and file ASAP. Does anyone know where in Southern California I can get a copy immediately? Is Vegas a good option?

    Thanks everyone.

  6. Thank you very very much :)

LOL gym :) wise way to ask for something

    Lisz,

The tax returns are only necessary if your Fiance is Self-employed/ Owns his own business. The embaixada document lists all of the possible types of proof that can be brought, but that does not mean that you must, or even should, bring all of those things listed.

You have the letter from the employer, and that is really what they are going to be looking at, as well as his bank statements. I really wouldn't worry too much about this one.

    Good luck.

  7. My stress, worry, and general freaking out can now finally cease. Everything is cool.

My Fiancee had her interview yesterday in Belgrade. But it took an extra day for her fingerprints to clear with the Embassy. And now I can finally say that it is done. She picked up, and was granted, her visa today.

The interview was much shorter than I expected, and lasted approximately 15-20 minutes. They looked at our documentation, and didn't have any questions about the evidence that we submitted. The interview was smooth.

And so, even though our journey is not yet complete, I would like to thank everyone here at VisaJourney. It is through the collective contributions of everyone on this site that my approval was possible. And I am glad that I never touched a lawyer.

So thank you all, and I wish everyone a speedy approval.

    WOOT!!!!!

  8. Halo alamaal,

Let me first of all explain, when you read my spelling: I was born in California, but both my parents are Dutch, and we spoke Dutch at home. But, as you might imagine, there are not too many Dutch books in Los Angeles, so my spelling is mostly a guess.

We need it!!!!!

    Much Love from Cali,

    Jan

  9. Keneisha,

I also had your question when I started my process. I decided that our case didn't have any significant complications and did all of the work myself.

I found that the members of VJ and the information on this site made it possible for me to put together my petition with zero error (so far so good).

For me, it's been quite a bit of work and attention to detail, but from my point of view the money that the lawyers don't get buys a couple of extra bottles of champagne at our wedding reception. =)

Good luck, and I'm sure that you'll make a good decision.

  10. It took me almost 45 seconds to click on LINKS at the top of the page....click on govt immigration sites...then click on Department of State...and then FIND an Embassy.

They have web pages on visas also and do family based visas.

Well I suppose that if we all knew all of the answers that there would be no need for this forum.

I however, am not perfect, and have found that the members of these forums have helped to answer many of my basic questions. I hope that Daisy continues to ask questions, and that others who find themselves above these questions only click on posts which meet their cognitive requirements.

  11. It will depend on the reason for the denial.

Eliana was denied for a tourist visa (not strong enough ties) 2 months before we apllied for the K-1 and we had no problems at the interview. Actually, the subject never came up.

That makes me feel better! Her denial was based on her lack of ties as well.

Well five more days and then its interview time. Does anyone have a time machine? hahahaha.

    Thanks all.

    /heart VJ

  12. Hello folks,

At an earlier point in our relationship, my fiance had applied to visit me in the U.S. on a tourist visa. This was before the idea of marriage had ever popped up, and before I understood how difficult it is for people from certain contries to obtain a visa. This visa was denied.

Will this have any bearing on our interview for our K-1? Has anyone had a similiar experience? How did the consular officers address it?

As always, thanks for the advice all. This process is so stressful, I just want to make sure that I have every detail possible covered before our interview.
