  1. So, received the email from the Embassy yesterday, the 8th!. Don't know if it was the pleading email I sent to them or not! Anyways, it would have been better to wait as I was supposed to. The time of receipt of our case at the Bogota Embassy and the email instructions was 8 days, FYI. I have attached the newly dated package instructions we received if it helps anyone. Good Luck to All!

  2. So, after confirming that Bogota Embassy had my case, I went ahead and filed DS-160, paid Visa fee and set up ASC appt and Interview. I inquired to the Embassy why we have not received the packet 3/4 and they replied :

    Dear Applicant,

We would like to inform you that we have not received all the documentation related to your case form the NVC. As soon as we receive additional information, we will contact you with the instructions on how to proceed with your case.

I phoned later and was told that the Embassy has received it, but had not finished assembling the paperwork and "they" have not received a tracking number needed for package and the ASC appointment. She had no idea how long it would take, but the CEAC webite said Embassy received it ( status update ) 8 days ago. Funny after my email inquiry, the status date changed to today.

I made the appointments and air reservations, and hotel, from the advice I read here and am scared to not receive the package before our appointments begin in 9 days! Does anyone know what this extra "tracking number" and how long Bogota will take after reciveung case to sending packet 3/4?

Thanks so much for your help

  3. Hola, quien sabe sobre de mi situacion? En Medellin y necesito el certificado de antecedentes penales de Argentina

Hi, all. Wondering if its accurate when I say that Fiance needs to go to an Argentina Embassy to complete the certificado de antecedentes penales . I know the part...

You must obtain the nationally produced "Certificado de Antecedentes Penales" issued by the "Registro Nacional de Reincidencia" of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Human Rights at Tucumán 1353, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.

The petition must specifically mention that the certificate is requested "con excepción al artículo 51 del Código Penal".

For further information, please contact the above mentioned office by phone: 4374-5611/ 12/ 13. or visit the web site where you will find additional information at: http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/Atencion_Particular.aspx

I then get to http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/SolicitudCertificado/Default.aspx?mod=mandatario with the instructions about going to the embassy. But the drop down selection makes you choose a $ delivery option , and a type of representative. He is doing this, so I found the personal selection @ http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/SolicitudCertificado/Default.aspx?mod=personal but its instructions are for doing this within Argentina, I believe.

He is in Medellin, so he needs to travel to Bogota for this completed form? And could we choose the 24 hour delivery and pick it up? Wanted to do this over the internet now, but may have to do this right before our K1 interview; but cutting it close sounds stressful. Any Input? Thanks

Perdon mi Spanglish! Gracias por su ayuda

  5. Great to hear your experience! He is Colombian and of the same sex as I and is currently studying design in Buenos Aires and has traveled to Uruguay also (both legally) . He wants to come here to study English next February. We met last February and I wanted to help him as a sponsor. He is a single 25 year old man with family and friends in Colombia. If, after 6 mos , I decide to marry him, so he can remain here as a permanent resident, would this suspicious? Right now, it is not our intent; as he doesn't even know I'm inquiring about this. Or would it be an option for him to return to Colombia after his studies, and I file a for a Fiance Visa? What do you guys think?Thank You so much

  6. If I am the sponsor ( also a USA citizen) of a person on a F1 Visa , and he is going to school as he supposed to, if I later marry him while he is here studying ; will it look suspicious to immigration when he applies for his Adjustment of Status to become a permanent resident of the USA that I was also his sponsor for his F1 Visa? Do they even know that information? This is for a valid , loving marriage as we have plenty of evidence of our relationship, even before he came here. Thanks
