  1. Is it a computer/online W4 form or program that will not allow you to put US? Did you get to that part by saying you were a non-resident alien, so that's why it's not allowing US as a tax home?

Explain the form better and if you are filling it out with a pen or it is a computerized program.

It's a computerized program called glacier. When I filled out some forms when I got the job I can't recall what I put (probably non-resident alien or something along those lines), so it will not allow me to put U.S. I'll have to talk to the person in charge of the program to try to get it sorted out. I think it's just for them to determine at what rate to tax me at.

  2. hi

US, you will be filing taxes next year in the US

you will work here in the US, with a US employer, your employer will deduct money from your paycheck and the following year will give you a W2 for tax purposes

and you will file taxes in the US

I am aware of that, however what they want me to fill out will not let me put that. I don't think they recognize my immigration status as existing on the program they use.

  3. So I just got a job on my EAD, (I'm adjusting from a k1), and I'm unsure of how to fill out a form that my employer is requesting.

It is asking for my country of tax residence. As far as I know, I am no longer a Canadian Resident and not obligated to pay taxes there anymore so I don't know how to fill that out.

It says "Although you may pay tax in the U.S., your country of Tax Residence CANNOT be the U.S. Your Country of Tax Residence is generally the country to which you owe tax on your "worldwide" income. Typically, your Country of Tax Residence is the same as your country of Permanent Residence; however, if you have lived in a country other than your Country of Permanent Residence immediately before coming to the U.S. to study/work, you may have established Tax Residency in that country."

  4. Anyone know anything about tax forms for a new job? I'm supposed to fill out a form for my job and it's asking my country of tax residence? As far as I know, I'm no longer obligated to submit tax information to Canada as I have emigrated.

    Country of Tax Residence:

Although you may pay tax in the U.S., your Country of Tax Residence CANNOT be the U.S. Your Country of Tax Residence is generally the country to which you owe tax on your "worldwide" income. Typically, your Country of Tax Residence is the same as your Country of Permanent Residence; however, if you have lived in a country other than your Country of Permanent Residence immediately before coming to the U.S. to study/work, you may have established Tax Residency in that country.

  6. I know..I keep myself busy but still checking status every minute lol...at the new dmv at Rancheros San Marcos, supposed to be at Oceanside but mother-in-law told me just get the nearest one. I hope so as I never drive in a multi lane and with stop signs haha funny, I drove at us naval base (where my husband work) 25mph, 2 way lane, with no stoplight and police on every block haha...when I practice here, my trainer almost had a heart attack haha...so good luck on my test.... Yeah I guess it will at SD too..will keep you posted

Yeah keeping busy is hard. I went to a movie alone yesterday just for something to do. MIne didn't take me on the freeway at all and the parking was just pulling up to a curb and having to back up along it. I had a few minor errors but passed it. I thought about San Marcos but took what was available first that was on a day my husband was off. I'm just glad it's done and I have a car and a bit of freedom to do what I want during the day. I still need to find a job though.

  7. Really frustrating to a wife that just had 10days (for the wedding) with husband since I got here thru k1 as he has to go back work overseas. I need GC to follow him there... Will have my behind the wheel test on the 28th, hope I passed...

That does sound awful! Hopefully you don't feel tooisolated. Where's your behind the wheel test at? I did mine in North park. It wasn't too awful. I wanted poway but I didn't want to wait that long. If your interview will be in San Diego than we would be in the same place. I'm in Mira Mesa.

  8. Fingers crossed and start praying!

Having a vehicle here in the states it does make a lot of difference.. More when you are in a small town like me!! Waiting tuesday to do my 3hs alcohol & drug program test and then exchage my foreign DL to a state one!!

I had to do the written test and behind the wheel here in CA. I wish I could just exchange it! Canada isn't much different for driving.

  9. Is anyone still waiting for their I485 approval? Especially in southern california?

Also- has anyone had a situation, whereby they initially had the notice change to 'waiting to schedule an interview' to direct approval without the interview process?

I'm in San Diego and have had no news since my biometrics on December 9th. Getting a bit frustrated and feeling forgotten by the system.

I'm a month behind you but feeling the same way. Also in San Diego so totally watching your timeline to see what I'm expecting.

  10. Hello VJ'ers.

My husband has been working for two weeks now, passed his driving test (Super easy!) and we've bought a second car for him.

He received his EAD/AP March 2nd. And since then it's been silence.

No AOS interview yet, no greencard approval. Nothing from USCIS' end.

Do we just wait, is there something else we need to do?

I'm just not sure what to do at this point since I'm seeing so many others getting their green cards already.

    Thanks!

You are definitely not alone! Mine says fingerprint fee received December 24th and I haven't had any change at all. Not even a ready to schedule interview change.

  11. thanks for the heads up, well i will have to try but my EAD/AP just got approved today and im sure i will be getting it by next week.i have the interview this friday and im not sure i can get all that done before friday,my name is not on any bills what we have jointly is our car in both our names ,insurance, joint bank accounts and letters that we both get coming to that address, we have a child together so we got his birth certificate from the health department yesterday, we have pictures of before and after the wedding with her family, and we shall get a sworn statement from her mom and brothers testifying about our relationship and that we live together.i hope this helps if I can't get a lease agreement and bills yet.

Good luck Friday! Hope it goes wonderfully and we get to hear good news :)

  12. The same with my husband's; I suspect it's normal.

Still no SSN card. Hopefully on Monday? His driving test is this Wednesday, so if we don't get it by then, we will probably need to wait another month for an appointment to open up.

    Thanks for the response!

I hope he gets the SSN card soon so he can still do his driving test Wednesday. Those DMV appointments are hard to come by. I snatched up a March 22nd appointment for my written test before I knew for sure the card would be here, so luckily it arrived in time. Otherwise the closest appointment was n the 3rd.

  13. I sent them my Ds 3025 form with all my vaccines. In my form Ds 3025 in the varicella case they put yes in the case of vaccine and the sign D(which means not routinely available.so is it the transcrition or the varicella vaccine?

Here's a post from November about that. I think if they're marked D you do need to go get them, and get them transcribed by the Civil surgeon

  14. Hello all,

I just received a RFE for the form I 485

    They ask :

    - 2 color photographs of the petitioner (my husband) and,

    - A supplement form I-693 (immunizations)performed by a doctor on the list of uscis authorized physicians. (Please return results for missing varicella vaccination in a sealed envelope)

So what do I need to do now?will I do all the consultation again? Or just the vaccine?

We call one of the center authorized they said that it is 300 $ (without vaccine fees)and after that we are going to go to walmart or cvs pharmacy to do the vaccine (with the prescription of the doctor)

    Please I need your help

Look here for the doctors: https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor

And price check. You can call around and see how much it would cost. Just insist that you need it transcribed and not a completely new medical. I'm assuming your medical isn't expired yet.

P.S. I was looking at your timeline and had to double check that I wasn't on mine. We had the same interview date so it confused me

I agree. However, I was trying to look up a civil surgeon today and the site wasn't pulling a list - even for the entire state of Texas and Oklahoma! I think the site is malfunctioning right now.

Hmm strange. jsut checked a few minutes ago and it's working now.

It says supplement, so I'm pretty sure you just need them to transcribe your vaccination records (assuming you're up to date with them all), and it sealed and signed by them. you should call around for pricing, you do not need the full medical exam.

Edit: Old subject, but here's one about Civil surgeons in New Orleans
