I noticed there is an email you can write to if you have a complaint about the USCIS. So I emailed it asking about the 6 month back track, about NSC not processing I-751 , about people who filed just a few months ago getting approved when a lot of us have been waiting well over a year, and a few other things. I got a reply back almost instantly!

I wonder if there's an email address I can write to to complain about their complaint email address not working.

Anyway, I'm going for another infopass on tuesday, but don't really expect the officer there to have any idea what's going on. If I manage to get a 12-month stamp I'll consider it a successful trip.

I'm also amazingly p'd off. You filed with NSC almost a year after I did and I'm still waiting.

You would have thought that they would have transferred applications from the start of the list.

So, mixed emotions. At least people are getting approved, but why can't it be me?

I actually like the database here. At least it's accurate (more so than the USCIS in anycase). If people's timeline say they've been approved, then I know they've been approved. It's handy to see someone on a similar time line to me and get an indication of how far behind I am. Especially with Nebraska's weirdness.

I know for a fact (unless they are mistaken or lying) that people have been approved through the NSC this year without being transferred to another service centre. But the USCIS doesn't tell you that.

But hey, it's a choice. If people want to keep their timelines updated so other people get an indication of whats going on with them, then that's great. If other people don't care and don't bother, then that's great too.

It takes no effort, so I will be keeping my timeline updated.

and THIS ONE which makes me think that because George W wants to grants tens of thousands of illegal immigrants a legal status that the rest of us who went through legal channels in the first place are now suffering.

In short a federal judge ruled it was unlawful for the USCIS to require FBI name checks before deciding a naturalization case. While the USCIS continues to fight the decision, lawyers for the plaintiffs (the permanent residents suing the government) are confident of victory.

Which means that sueing the USCIS DOES work.

I have been waiting for over a year now to know more about my case who is sitting in Nebraska since February 16th 2007.

I filed to remove conditions and as far as I know they have been working on case from february 10th.

M husband and I want to go to viit my family in Europe soon.

I just would like to know if some of you who filled around that date got an approval.

My NOA is two weeks ahead of yours and I've not ben approved yet. I've seen one approval that was a month before mine, so i'm going on the wild assumption that it's currently takeing 13 months to process and I SHOULD get something next week. I keep my signature and timeline up to date.

LOL! I REALLY hope that's a typo. But even if it should be July 05 2007 then that means I'm 5 months out of the window, which also isn't funny.

Yeah, I was asked for proof of travel before I could get a stamp. but I've not heard anyone else being asked. Seems unfair that we should need proof to get a further extension just because the USCIS couldn't process an application within their own time frame. Maybe they should start givin out 2 year extensions when I751 are filed. Perhaps that solution is too obvious.

I am not new to this forum but have never posted before. I applied for the removal of conditions in Feb 2007 and got biometrics done in March 2007. Now, it has been a year since I have heard anything from the USCIS so I have made an INFOPASS appointment in Chicago center. Any advice on what kind of documents I would need to take for the appointment. I am taking the following:

1. Valid Passport

2. Two passport-sized photographs

3. Extension letter

4. Biometrics Notice

5. Green Card

6. Birth Certificate

7. Social Security Card

If I am overlooking something pls advise.

Sounds ok to me. I just took my greencard, passport, NOA extension letter. When I went, the officer wouldn't stamp my passport without proof that I was travelling (e-ticket, airline reservation etc). But I've heard of others getting a stamp without it.

Nothing, I'm just being a pessimist. I'm one of those people that if I join the shortest line in a store then the other lines will move faster. If I overtake a car to get into a fast lane, the car ahead of me will break down. I'm used to it. Don't ind me.

Ah, yes, I know that is annoying. I see people who went through NSC after me who now have their 10yr. So the suit is really based on the fact that the USCIS aren't sticking to their own policy. It seems unlikely to be a case that would win. I think I'll just wait.

Your NOA is just a day before mine, so I'm watching your timeline with great interest.

I see a lot of threads about starting a law suit. I'm just curious what the basis of it would be. Did the USCIS guarantee when (and if) an application would be processed? We can't really sue them for taking their sweet time. Can we?

I just feel that even if a hundred of us went up against the USCIS, we would waste years in court and have nothing to show for it other than huge legal bills.

My husband's two year green card expires in June of 2009, and we'll apply for lifting of conditions. I know that he will receive the extension for one year, but does anyone have advice about whether travel during this year long wait outside the US is okay.

Make sure he has that letter, as my husband had forgotten his one time and was not allowed on the airplane in his country. I had to come home alone on the flight and fedex him the letter when I got back. Not a pretty picture. (All the emotions we went through at the airport.) Good luck and have fun!

OUCH! That sucks. I travelled last year with expired green card, NOA and passport and was checking that I had all three more often than I was checking my boarding pass. I'm not paranoid, I just KNOW something bad will happen.

When I booked my infopass, there were a few appointments within days, and I booked one for the following week. The site has a calendar that shows free slots.

I went with the intention of getting a stamp in my passport so I can travel. The officer checked her screen and it said "they" we processing applications that were a few weeks prior to the date on the USCIS website. She said I would more than likely get the GC before I needed to travel and in any case wouldn't stamp my passport without seeing proof I was travelling (tiket, reservation etc) so I'll have to book another appointment.

I didn't ask her about work authorisation. Wish I had thought of that at the time.

I'm an American, my wife is from St. Vincent. We failed to submit our I-751 on time, and worked diligently to provide a good reason and the supporting documentation. We sent in our package and it was received on Friday, January 25th.

I checked our bank account online today and saw that the $545 check had been cashed by the Texas Service Center. We are inclined to believe that a receipt of our application is forthcoming, and that they have accepted our reason for filing late.

Given your experience, is this an accurate assumption?

I can't really speak from experience, but it would be really cheeky of them to cash a check if they were going to reject the application. That said, maybe the cashing of checks is done before anything else and they didn't realise you filed late. maybe you should schedule an infopass to make sure.

I thought they would stamp your passport after the year if you were going to travel or not !!!

Where does that leave the people who need the extention for their driver's license or for work ?

I believe the stamp in the passport is documentation of you being a permanent resident (conditional but you have the same rights as a PR as long as your case is still being adjudicated) so it should be acceptable for drivers license or work and not just for travel. Ofcourse different agencies may interpret it differently but i believe thats what the stamp is supposed to be.

Right...that's what I thought...so why do you need to have a plane ticket to get your fricken Passport stamped !!!

Do you need to schedule a trip to get a stamp???...how stupid is that.

I kinda thought that too, that's why I booked an infopass and went with passport in hand and figured they would just say sorry for the delay, here's another extention. Maybe if you show the drivers licence is about to expire you can get the stamp. As for work authorisation, I don't think we need it. just because the green card has expired, our conditional permanent residence hasn't. Otherwise a lot of us would be working illegally right now.

I had an infopass appointment, but they couldn't tell me much more information than was online. She did say that processing was around Jan 15th 2007 an not 9th or 10th as the website reported. Also she wouldn't stamp my passport without proof that I was travelling, so i need to go back with the plane ticket.

[sarcasm] Woohoo!!! Service Status has Updated. Nebraska was processing Feb 9th applications, it's now changed to Feb 10th!! [/sarcasm]

Does anyone know what date the last application was approved out of Nebraska?

That's a good point. I only live 20 minutes from the office, so it's no great problem for me. But this kind of information should be available on the phone. Has anyone tried to navigate the phone's menu lately? I was on the phone going through the menus actually longer than it took to get in the car, drive down town and get to speak to an officer.

The actualy people at the USCIS seem nice and friendly and helpful, but the USCIS as a whole needs some rethinking.

no, he will not, if he lives in the UK and has not been arrested / convicted, he is free to travel to the USA on the VWP, he can come and go the the USA as many times has he likes, but must not stay in the USA beyond 90 days at a time on each visit. The Advanced Parole is for when he lives here once he has been issued his K1 visa, not the other way round !!!
