Bump - any new NYC filers? I find the various timelines in the thread to be really helpful, especially because at the end, everything depends on your local office!
-
Did you move from one jurisdiction to another, or did you stay in the same general area and just change your address?
-
So if I want to use UPS express delivery I gotta send to
USCIS
Attn: FBAS
131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60603-5517
right?
Yes
-
I sent it via FedEx overnight to that address, had no problems.
-
Congrats! Thats really fast for EAD, did you request an expedite?
No, but we didn't request AP so that may have something to do with it. My husband is on an H1B that he can travel on if he needs to, but we aren't planning on any international travel in the next few months.
-
EAD card delivered - the tracking anticipated tomorrow but USPS tracking is kind of suspect anyhow. It's a really official looking card!
-
We only sent the transcripts for all 3 years, not the W-2 and we have been fine so far (no RFE)
-
The same address we used and thats what let us wondering why they say...
When you send it there it will sit for at least 30 days. We kinda lost
They just won't go physically check for you until it's been 30 days - you may well receive your NOA's before then. It doesn't have anything to do with where you sent it. They technically have 30 days to respond.

Hello, i have a Question we sent our package out Sep.22 arrived and sign by CHYBA need to say we sent it to the Mailroom with UPS
so we still didnt got any NOA, so my husband called today and they told him , when you send it to this address
USCIS
Attn: FBAS
131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60603-5517
they dont even look at it before the 30 day mark and after the 30 days they start an investigation
im kinda lost, why is the address on there if they dont even look at it before or why they dont said anything like that on the website we would have it way cheaper with USPS and the PO BOX
anyone have experience maybe??
I don't really understand what the problem is, are you wondering if you shouldn't have sent it to that address? Because we sent ours to that address via FedEx and did not have any problem. Our notification texts came promptly and our filing date is the day it arrived.
Did you file form G-1145? Have your checks been cashed?
That being said, sometimes the paper NOAs are just a little slow. They have to check the packages for completion before sending out the NOA.

Ok guys, so i had my immigration medical exam done last week (yes I did not send it with the AOS package) and I was wondering if I should send it to USCIS right away or just wait for an RFE?
I am no expert, but I am the kind of nervous person that would wait for the RFE, especially as your goal was to expedite your EAD. I don't have any experience in the matter, I have just been overly cautious the whole time.
-
Our EAD was marked as shipped today, but no tracking number. This will probably be the end of our notifications for a few months!

Just received my biometrics letter in the post
Appointment date October 22
Woohoo
Can I attempt an early walk in today or is it too early lol.. Have nothing better to do and the application support center is two blocks down from our house
If it's that close, I would just walk over and give it a go! No harm done if they won't see you!
-
We ended up not going in early because we didn't want to waste time having to go down twice - he would have had to take off work to try. It really doesn't seem to have slowed down our case at all! If you've got the time though, it can't hurt.
-
You should contact your individual institution's financial aid office about this. After you recieve your green card, you should qualify for certain types of financial aid. This will vary school by school.
-
OMG why is yours approved so quickly? thats amazing congratulations. did you file an expedite or is NYC just so fast?
We didn't ask to expedite, and actually - does anybody know the answer to this? - Is the I-765 processed at the local office or at one of the larger service centers? Our case in general was sent to the National Benefits Center (MSC number)
I always assumed only the I-485 was processed local but I actually have no idea.
NYC is actually on the slow side, we could be waiting a while for an interview appointment.
-
Our EAD is in card/document production now! Is there anyone else in this thread filing in NYC? I know at this point its alllll about the local office.
-
Our status moved to Testing and Interview today, but I know that pretty much means nothing and that we could languish on that for months. It was exciting to see a change anyhow! I didn't get a text message about it.
-
We haven't been scheduled for our interview yet, but we are bringing recent and updated bank statements to show further co-mingling of finances, as well as a copy of our will showing each other as the beneficiary, etc. These are things we didn't have when we submitted the package, or things that will need updating - if our interview is in 3 or 4 months, we'll bring the most recent statements. We're also bringing more recent photos and a box of cards we received at our wedding from various family members and friends.
-
Good luck October filers!

If you're out of birth control, find a planned parenthood and explain your situation, they should be able to help you on a sliding scale. I used them for birth control during the brief period I was uninsured and they were very helpful.
Once you are employed, many employers offer insurance through their company. If not, you should be able to get on your husband's insurance. There's always the option to also buy, but through your employer is easiest.
-
Biometrics completed today on schedule - in and out of the Varick street office in NYC in 15 minutes. Fingers crossed that New York speeds up a bit, right now it is a super long wait to get scheduled for an interview.
-
Does that happens to everyone else too, the late night text/email notification? Hope my phone will viberate few times tonight
)
It happened to us, ours came at 12:43AM - it woke me up because it buzzed so many times but I was super excited.
-
They cashed our checks and sent the confirmation the same day - I was so stressed out until the confirmation came, I kept imagining that something had happened to our package which is kind of silly I guess but still. I was so nervous when we dropped it off at FedEx.
-
Good luck to everyone who just joined the thread! So far so good for us, we are waiting for his Biometrics appointment next week (he doesn't want to risk taking off work to attempt a walk-in).
We'll probably be the last in this thread to receive a green card - NYC is super, super super slow.

That's fantastic! What's your local office?
