  1. why do you have to post the same thing multiple times?? do you think people will answer you faster???

    this is really uncalled for

YuAndDan told me to make my post smaller. If you want, you can read the original post called I-134 questions . . . confused and really, really frustrated.

I got in trouble for making a really long post.

Now you give me heck for asking too many questions?!

  2. Had my paperworks checked with the lady in d immigrant center(yesteray Feb 2)...and i have nothing to do this time so i want to share about what d lady said about my DS Forms.Hope these can help! (i just dont know if this post is appropriate to be here) is it???? lol

About my DS-156, had this printed for thrice. The first one coz of q27 What is the purpose of your trip i put there to be with my fiance and we will going to plan for our wedding...and when i saw sample of forms i saw it there for marriage and relocation. When my visa counselor checked it she said need to change it into TO BE WITH MY FIANCE AND MARRY HIM. She let me print another DS forms without barcode...coz i had barcode in my previous DS 156. I asked her why??? for K1 is without a barcode. So i have learned that DS FORMS in K1 application need not to have barcode. She checked every box..So to those who r doing the DS forms see to it to fill it out all boxes...u can put NONE..if it is not applicable. q32 and q33 if u want then check yes..and write BUT NONE AS OF THIS MOMENT.Q37 need to check all the boxes and dont forget to put NONE if it is not applicable. Q 39 CHECK no and fill out q40 write ur name and address put MYSELF after relationship to applicant then sign.

and in DS156K in q4 and q5 put NONE if its not applicable...just in the first blank. see the words below??? DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE...U can write the balnks to marry (write the name of ur fiance) then sign. and put the date (date of ur interview) at the place where u have ur interview.

Thank you! Just *exactly* the kind of information that I need! :)

  3. On this part of VJ http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Vancouver it says that I need an I-134 accompanied by income tax returns (more than one?) and the W2. Does this mean that the bank statements and all that other junk asked for as "evidence" on the form does not, in fact, need to be procured and presented to anyone?

    Listed there is:

When at the K1 interview, they request that your documents be in this order:

    - passport

    - photographs (print name on back)

    - OF-156/DS-156 (should this be OF-167/DS-156?)

    - DS-156K

    - birth certificate (long form)

    - marriage certificate (if any)

    - termination of previous marriages

    - police certificate(s)

    - court records (if any)

    - I-134 (they will also ask for income tax returns and the W2 as supporting documentation)

    - medical (they do not ask for the chest x-ray so you don't need to bring it with you)

Listed elsewhere in the guides is:

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

Examples [of ongoing relationship]: Copies of 'phone bills, cel 'phone bills, emails, letters, stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

--We are not getting a ring (allergies). Will this be a problem?

We would like to provide sufficient evidence, but not way too much. We do not want to overdo it.

    7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 date-now).

--We have been unable to meet since NoA1. Are copies of emails and 'phone bills sufficient? As in, 2 to 4 emails and 2 to 4 'phone bills?

This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).

--Who gets this? Is it sent in with the I-134? Am I supposed to have a copy? According to the list for Vancouver, I only need the I-134, the income tax returns and a "W2."

--Do I need to have all the little bits of paper like: airline tickets, the cut out parts of the 'phone bills with the pertinent calls---it's a lot of clutter. I do not see in the Vancouver Consulate list anything about these niggling little bits.

--Or is this junk now from between the sending of I-129f and nearer the interview date?

--Or, am I required to bring ALL the evidence (accumulated over 4 1/2 years) including all the niggly bits from the I-129f PLUS all the junk from between then and now?

  7. Just the remainder of the post that was not answered and, before you ask, YES, I have BEEN TOLD.

--Why do I need a complete copy of the I-129f?

We would like to provide sufficient evidence, but not way too much. We do not want to overdo it.

  8. Thank you for your patience. I am not aware of protocols unless advised of them. I take it that I have "been told." I will try to just write them down myself and separate them into the different issues and *then* post them the next day. These are all the questions that my BF asked yesterday on the 'phone. I do not know the answers and he was asking me like I did know. So I did the only thing that I knew how to do: as VJ.

Anyway, thank you again joeyjoey and YuAndDan; you were spectacular under the circumstances.

So what do I do now? Repost and split them all up?---skipping the parts that were answered?

    ~sigh~

    Okay.

  9. About the I-134:

My BF would like to know why he needs 3 notarised copies of the I-134 and I don't know so I am asking you.

If he does need 3 notarised copies of the I-134, who gets each of the copies? When do they require the copies? Does the notary need to witness the making of the copies (like, my BF makes copies on the notary's photocopier)?

Does he or does he not need to fill out an I-864? (We are K-1)

Where does he get a current version of the I-134?

He tells me that the I-134 requires "evidence." Does he need to have the "evidence" copied? If so, how many copies? Do the copies need to be notarised? Or would it be acceptable to be able to produce the originals at the interview (ie: he brings them with him when he accompanies me to the interview)? For instance: the income tax return. If he gets a notarised copy of the income tax return, it will, of necessity, be last year's return. Should the interview be after *this* year's receipt of return, then the notarised version will no longer be the most recent---colossal waste of money. Another For Instance: can he bring the original of the most recent bank statement rather than get a notarised copy? Or does the original need to be produced?

#3. This Affidavit is being filled out for the benefit of . . . who? Is it me?

    Relationship to Sponsor? Fiancée?

Is it necessary to fill out any of the other information (like about the personal property) if, say, his income and other junk reaches the sufficient level of support required. What I mean is: is it necessary to fill in *all* the blanks if his yearly salary reaches the required amount for the support the number of persons in his household?

(Off-Topic: when does he need to produce the evidence that he is free to marry me and to whom does he show it (or for whom to have it copied and notarised)? The original of his divorce evidence is a copy. The "real" original is on file at the court. Is the copy that he was issued considered sufficient?)

    4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a US Notary Public), with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

--The required supporting evidence, as stated earlier, looks like income tax returns and a "W2." Also, the sentence reads "Ensure that *it* is notarized" not "Ensure that *they* are notarised."

    5. You will likely need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134. Specifically, you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.

--If he is there in person at the interview, why does he need a bank official's opinion on paper about his bank account? Why are the original bank statements insufficient when he will be there to present them? Is this, perhaps, a requirement if the sponsor cannot be at the interview?

    6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.

Examples: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

--We are not getting a ring (allergies). Will this be a problem?

We would like to provide sufficient evidence, but not way too much. We do not want to overdo it.

I know that this is a very long post. I am unable to find the answers for which I am looking on the Board. I apologise if these questions are elsewhere already. I apologise if the consequent answers are elsewhere already. Any help will be greatly appreciated---the stress level is becoming idiotic.

I would also like to apologise if some of these questions do not seem related to my own topic.

  10. Where on the I134 instructions does it state that income needs to be at 125% of the US Poverty Guidelines?

Where on the I134 are the US Poverty Guidelines mentioned at all?

The I-134 instructions don't refer to any minimum income - only the I-1864 does so it must just be an assumption on everyone's part.

    I-134 Instructions:

As the sponsor, you must show you have sufficient income and/or financial resources to assure that the alien you are

sponsoring will not become a public charge while in the United State.

    Travel.State.gov states:

Do the same income requirements apply to all immigrant visa applicants even if they use the I-134?

No. The 125 percent minimum income requirement, the need for the most recent year's tax return and other requirements only apply when an I-864 is needed. Applicants using the I-134 will need to show that their sponsor's income is 100 percent of federal poverty guidelines as required under Section 212(a)(4) of the INA

Whoa! What an insight, kitkat1! Thanks for sharing two widely separated pieces of data together at one glance! Good work! :)

  11. My response includes "other":

    So

    - Rubber pick to clean out the "pockets"

    - Interdental brush to clean out between my teeth where the larger gaps are

    - Floss to clean between the rest of my teeth and the backs of the last molars

    - Manual toothbrush

    and

    - Electric toothbrush on weekends until my 3 months is up on my last manual toothbrush.

Above routine is done EVERY day right after breakfast (big, chunky muesli bits)

At night time, just brushing with the manual brush is all that is necessary.

Do I think that oral hygiene is important?

    Yes.

  12. Since the last thread started by and for October NOA1s still waiting, it appears as though I'm the only October (regular poster) who is still waiting.

    :(

Hmm . . . I wasn't aware of such a thread. Don't believe that I ever posted there. I also do not think of myself as a (regular poster).

I did the same thing as you when I started seeing November and December filers being approved before us. I thought for sure that it meant an RFE or that we filled out the paperwork incorrectly and we get to start again and pay again.

And I wonder about that thing of USCIS that says that they are now processing files whose receipt date is July 17 and before---because if that is true, how coud we have been approved? But, I am new to all of this and perhaps I am mixing apples and oranges.

However, I feel that you should vent whenever you need to vent. It is physically unhealthy not to do so. :)

  13. I resisted for about an hour and a half---but, I can't keep it up. And, I wanted to be in my own posting. We did not go for the checking every day for touches. We just waited it out.

My boyfriend emailed me some time today to tell me that the NoA2 arrived by snail today. The approval date, however, is January 16. I was so stressed about getting an RFE or, as was more likely, asked to try again because we forgot to cross a T somewhere.

    But, no: approval instead.

    We'll take it.

Last week at work, I was asked how things were going and I put my head down on my desk because the night before the average days between sent and interview had gone up to 215 days! And, it may still take that long, but I don't care about that today.

  14. Born and raised in Canada to Scottish parents (who were born and raised in Scotland, don'tcha know) and I use a knife and fork to eat meals off the big plates. For meals off of the little plates it is optional to use cutlery or one's fingers.

AND, we called the pieces "cutlery" or "irons," not silverware. We had silverware---kept in a velvet-y wooden box in the dining room, both of which were for when we had comp'ny.

To clarify, "irons" was the word that my father would use when we were having difficulty wielding them correctly when we were children (my younger brother and I, that is). "Hold your irons properly!"

Dunno. He never explained its use and I can't ask him now. He's gone.

  15. Wow! As has oft been said before---VJers rock!

Thank you so much for caring and sharing information. I have copied the link to this topic into an email for my brother and requested that he read the WHOLE THING. He has a legal background (law degree) and so will probably not be troubled by any "legalese" that may be included. Thank you Kathryn41 for the ton of info and to CherryXS for another link.

Captain Ewok: what a lovely idea. I have no idea how you would go about putting something like that together, but you have my support for doing so (even if it *is* selfishly related to my brother). :)

PS: buttons: I do not understand your post, though I *did* read it.

  16. As I have had to travel using I-94s for the last 2 trips before the K-1 visa process was started (and all border crossings by me have come to an end until the K-1 / I-94 day), I know that I could not work with an I-94 still in force. The POE officer on the first crossing with an I-94 told me that I could volunteer, but could not collect a wage for work. To do so would be against the I-94 and break a US law. But, why would I do it, anyway? I was visiting.

Why did I need an I-94 when coming from Canada? Just one of the lucky ones whose travels were being "controlled," as the POE officer put it.

    :)

  17. Hi & Welcome :)

you wouldn't be able to leave for probably 3 months.

You're kidding! When I tried (unsuccessfully) to cross in June of 2005 at Coutts / Sweet Grass, the POE officer told me that if I came across on a K-1 visa that I would not be allowed to leave for a year! (She was pointing out that I should bring everything with me should we decide to go that route in the future :) .)

. . . Seems to me that I've read something of the sort here, too---unless you bother with a "parole" of some sort (allows you to travel outside of the US and its protectorates) before the year is up.

However, I do agree that you would have to go the K-3 route if you wanted to work for a little longer in Canada---or put off the K-1 until you take the retirement option. But, again, you don't want to wait.
