  1. Thanks everyone for the response!

The binder is very simple to use. I read that part but the binder I bought I never thought would be considered hard to disassamble. The papers can be easily reached cause they're inside plastic folders attached to the binder.

I got that idea of using the binder from a youtube video.

If I have to get rid of the binder, where should I put the papers instead?????

For us what look more organize for them means more work to remove all that stuff, make their life easy and don't use anything, think in all those cases they have to work every single day. Just use a very good envelope, like those ones that have plastic bubble inside. That's it.

  2. Hey everyone,

My fiancee and I are in Brazil right now (I'm visiting) and we're trying to take our passport photos for the I-129F. However, we're having a hard time finding a place that will do a 2" x 2" photo. Apparently, square passport photos are not standard or even offered in Brazil.

    • Would it be alright for us to use a photo that meets all of the other specifications, but is 35mm x 45mm (1.3" x 1.7") in size? Like this
    • Or would it be better for us to take the photos and have me attempt to print them in 2" x 2" on my photo printer when I get home to the states?

For reference, this seems to be the photo that every shop wants to offer us.

Thank you in advance for your help!

That's because you have to convert inches to cm, remember that in Brazil we use cm (passport style photos are 51 x 51mm). So, the size she has to look for is 5x5 or 5x7 cm, just tell on stores she needs a U.S Visa photo they will pretty much know what to do. Hope it helps :)

  3. We got our interview date on September 8th and the Dr in which my Fiancee will do her medical only has September 2nd as the first available date. Unfortunately this is the only accredited Dr by the U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My question is what would happen if the medical exams do not arrive to the U.S. Consulate on time for our interview?

    Thanks in Advance...

If things still the same as months ago, there's no problem on that. I had my appointment a day before the interview which means it was 100% sure that my medical exams wouldn't be there in time. They will just ask if she did her medical and if everything is ok they will issue the visa as soon as her medical reach their hands. lots of people do their medical exams close to the interview date, so they are pretty much used to it. But if you are really worried and can't wait (which I understand perfectly) you can send an e-mail to Tania (dr`s secretary) and ask her to give you Correios track number for your medical package so you can know when it reaches the consulate. Good Luck!

  4. Hey everybody,

My fiance and I are February filers from TSC. Earlier this month, I came to the U.S. to visit him on my B2 visa. At the POE, I even showed the immigration officer our K1 petition and she let me in, saying "well, you guys seem to be doing everything the right way"; my passport was stamped for a 6-month stay.

A few days after my arrival, our visa gets approved. Our lawyer gets in touch with us and pretty much says there's nothing they can do on this second step of the visa (the consulate part) and says we're on our own - which actually bothers me, because we have discussed things about this stage of the visa before we hired him and it really seemed like he was going to be with us until I got the visa.

Anyways, my biggest problem with doing this stage alone is the Affidavit of Support. My fiance is a retired veteran from the military and has spent the last 4 years going to school, paid for by the military. Which means his income was not taxable and therefore we don't have the last 3 years of tax returns they require. Yes, we are using his sister as a co-sponsor, but I'm still afraid that the fact he doesn't have any tax returns will be a big problem, since he's the primary sponsor. He has a job since last June and it pays well, but I know a few months won't do much.

The thing is, I'm here right now. I was allowed 6 months in here. We're not too eager about separating again and not knowing when are we gonna see each other again.

We're thinking about getting married and adjusting my status. I know it sounds crazy.

But if you think about it, you're considered to have committed visa fraud if you come into this country on a non-immigrant visa with the intention of becoming an immigrant. That's not my case. When I got in, I had all the intention to go back to my country and go to the interview in the consulate.

So is it really that bad?

It just feels like everything is so good right now, why would I leave.

I don't know, I'd really like some opinions from everybody here, if possible. We're considering speaking to another lawyer about this, I just don't know any good ones around here yet.

Also, I do realize the Affidavit of Support that I fear so much would still be a problem if I married him and adjusted my status, but at least it's something we can go through together.

What do you guys think? We don't want to be apart anymore and we're willing to pay for whatever lawyer fees/forms we have to pay to go through this.

I don't think that affidavit of support will big a problem, if you guys has a co-sponsor and he is already working since june and can prove it. Next step is the interview, if they have doubts about it they will ask questions to clarify things. You guys are so close to the end and by the way you can do it by yourself don't worry, I know it seems very confusing but is totally possible doing without a lawyer. This forum helps a lot! Depending what state you live in Brazil you can do everything from USA and just go to Brazil for your interview. If you need help feel free to ask.

Here is the link for Rio Consulate so you can have an idea what you will need on this new state in case you don't know http://brazil.usembassy.gov/interview/forms-for-fiancee-visas.html

  5. Hi! I have a quick question regarding the packet 4 that we were suppose to receive. We just got an email giving us our interview date and checklist of what to bring for the interview. Were we also supposed to receive a letter from the mail? My fiancé in Brasil had to change his address and I was able to change it with the NVC and he wrote an email to the embassy stating his new address and they responded by saying they changed it. However he still hasn't received anything in the mail. Is the email packet 4? I was trying to post this in the Brasil portal but I didn't find a way :( Sorry for the dumb question, but it threw me off a bit. Thank you in advanced!

Also in the email it stated we had to do the DS-230 part 1 section. So I'm guessing it is ok to leave blanks where it asks about the spouse right? My fiancé also doesn't remember all the addresses he's lived at since he was 16 :/ I guess they won't make a huge problem with that..sorry I'm being so paranoid about everything hahaha. thanks again

Hey, yes, e-mail is packet 4! don't worry about the letter I just received mine a day before the interview and of course was too late. print out the e-mail, I doubt he going going to need it, but just in case.

I wrote N/A on that spouse part. Are you talking about question #30 on DS230? If so, is just places not addresses. City, state and country. Getting paranoid is part of this process, welcome to the club lol. Good luck!

  6. Anyone know how long the process is now after receiving my NOA2 approval? In Brazil, how long does it usually take to get the interview date/ visa?

Hi, it's hard to say, each case is different. Some people get their interview date just with few days or weeks after their case left NVC, mine took long 35 days to Rio Consulate email us with an interview date and I don't know why. I would say on a good scenario it would take 1-2 weeks and on a bad one it would be like mine 35. You should try check brazil timelines for K1 so you can have a better idea.

    Good luck!

  9. Hi everyone! I seem to be a month away for on getting my NOA2 (my NOA1 was on Sept. 16) and I was reviewing the copies I made from the i-129F packet and I realized that I didn't check on question 14 asking if I ever filed for an alien fiance or husband, which would be no. I'm hoping I realized After and checked the box, but what I am asking is if my probabliity of getting an RFE greater because of that?

Also, my fiancé recently changed his address so how do I go about that? I think I saw somewhere that mentioned I should let them know once our process gets to the NVC stage. I would appreciate it if someone could elaborate a little more on this. Thank you in advanced!

    Hi!

If they notice that mistake, yes they going to send you a RFE.

And you must change your adress now, if you get a RFE(I hope not) they will send you a letter telling what's wrong and once you're approved they also going to send you NOA2 hardcopy.

you can change on USCIS website https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

    Good luck! :)

  10. Yay Samlog! congratulations i really hope everything goes great in the interview! and since it is in Rio maybe you can celebrate your approval as it is supposed to be celebrated (i love Rio)!!! ...and i almost can feel your excitement... our interview seems to be for March24th.. but we are still trying to decided if that's the best date for James to come to attend the interview with me, since his workload has been very busy lately... hopefully we will join your joy by knowing for sure the interview date soon.

    Regards!

So far it has been a mix of emotions! I still don't know what to do with all of that! lol

I already booked our tickets to Rio, we're arriving there on a Saturday, so we're going to have some time to know that beauty! Will be our first time there :D

Brendon is attending the interview with me not much because of the interview but more because of Rio so I don't need to be there by myself, you probably know, Rio is awesome but isn't the safest place. He's staying one week only, but I think is totally worth it.

I hope you can guys can decided the best for the moment and feel this crazy feeling soon too! lots of luck!

and thanks a lot for the nice words!
