  1. Hi there

Any update on your passport return? I am more worried about this passport return than the interview itself!

    Thanks.

My passport arrived at the Ottawa this morning. I will be picking in up in the next hour or so.

The visa was issued Tuesday and Loomis picked it up at 7pm on Thursday. Arrived this morning and it now says ready for pick up

  2. Yaaaaay! Congrats everyone! My interview is tomorrow so I hope it goes as well as all of yours! Do they go by appointment time do you think? I'm wondering if I should try to get in early or just wait for my 10:30 appointment

    Hi,

We were the only ones at the door when we got there at 9am and they let us right in. Kanuk I think also had a 10am interview and she was there at 7:40.

CdnarmyGrl got there after 8:30 for a 10am interview too.

  3. They are not exaggerating when they say the consulate is the easiest part of the process....

In at 0740 or so and they were letting everyone inside (one at a time) to get out of the wind. Number one out of the elevator and on my way back out the door in under half an hour.... Approved no less!

Sorry I missed the reunion, but needed to get back to the hotel and let hubby and kids know I'll be home next week!! Hurray!!

    Congrats

We did think that you were going to be one of the early birds

  4. APPROVED!!!

got to the Consulate just after 9am. I had given my documents by 9:20. I was called for the interview at 9:45 and was done by 9:55.

I sat with CdnarmyGrl, Brenda. She had arrived earlier and was done quite quickly

There was another woman waiting. She had an even number and she waited more than an hour to be called. We waited with her until she was called. The odd numbers were moving along much more quickly. So your speed for this process also can vary from person to person.

  5. For those from the Ottawa region.....where did you go for your Police Clearance? Did you go to the RCMP or did you get a Criminal Record Check from the Ottawa Police Services?

Also, any other Canadians with an interview next Tuesday (November 25th)?

I went to the OPP station by the Scotia Bank Place

  6. On the 0925 from Toronto now..... Is it wrong to still be getting my VJ fix from the train?

Have my trunkload of documents... but forgot my phone! Ack!

I am staying at the Mariott tonight and will try to stay in bed 'til 5 am at least!! No idea yet what time I'll get to the consulate. Depends on how many coffee stops I'll need.

    Hi Kanuk,

Which Marriott are you at. We are at the Chateau Champlain.

We went and picked up my Medical report so we are now ready for my 10am interview tomorrow.

  7. We are off in the Morning on the train from Ottawa to Montreal. We will pick up my medical package in the afternoon.

We have a 10am Interview appointment and plan to get there between 9am and 9:30. Anyone else going about that time? My husband and I are both going.

  8. I was hoping that someone would say something regarding doing the medical and interview in the same trip. I live in Winnipeg and my husband wants to attend the interview with me, and we will both have to fly out of Winnipeg. That will be expensive enough. We are lucky in that my husband collects points towards free hotel stays when he travels for his job, and he has nearly enough points for about five nights at Holiday Inn Express out by the Consulate. I am just worried about the logistics. I am sure Medisys tries to accommodate where they can.

Is there anyone out there with this experience?

There is someone here that did their medical and the interview the same week. I think that they had a Thursday interview. Read back a bunch of pages and you might find it.

  9. Hi everyone,

Congrats to all who got their interview. I expect to get mine next month. I am trying to figure out plans. I know that the medical office says 3 business days to pick up the results. So hypothetically does that mean a Monday medical can pick it up results on Thursday or Friday? I am just trying to save as much as I can because I am not one of the fortunate ones who live near Montreal or Vancouver and have to spend the week in Montreal. Thanks in advance.

    boarder

    Hi,

I had my medical on a Tuesday and they told me to call on Friday to make sure that everything was good. But, I am not sure that they would have been ready for 7am pick up on Friday so that extra day might be a good idea.

Once you know your Interview day you can call Medisys and they will tell you when you need to have the interview.

  10. We're coming from Ottawa. I'm going to drive the night before and just stay one night. It's only 2 hours or so depending on traffic so I'll probably go do the medical and come back the same day the week before.

    Hi,

We got a 1pm Medical and left Ottawa before 10:30am. We parked under the building where the medical was for 17 dollars. We were back in Ottawa before 6pm.

  11. I started to look at hotel rates...not the cheapest. We are from Ontario and probably going to do the drive so we also have to factor in $25.00 per night to park, on top of the hotel price. Sure adds up quick.

We are from ottawa and so we decided to take the train. Save the parking and the hassle.

  12. Hi All,

I just had my medical in Montreal. They were great. It took about 1.5 hours. Doctor first, then the nurse to weigh and measure, draw blood and give the flue shot and then the chest ex-ray. It was not crowded but there were quite a few people and a steady stream of people all the time.

We drove from Ottawa and left home at 10:30 am for a 1pm appointment. We were there in lots of time. We parked right under the building for $17. We were back in Ottawa by 5:40pm.

NOTE: as of now you need 5 (five) 2X2 pictures for the medical. Probably because they now are doing the flu shot. There is a pharmacy just down the street that can do extra's if you need. After I was done and had paid we went and got the picture and returned to the office and she added it to my file.

  13. Hi,

My husband is the US citizen and I am Canadian. We filed the I-130 in May. We got our case complete in September and our interview is for Nov 18th. We live together in Canada and will stay together until we both move. My husband has income that will continue once we move so the Affidavit of support is not a problem. We do have to show domocile. We have a letter from a friend that we will live until we get a place of our own. I don't think that we will have any problems.

  14. We should. I'm still sorting out everything with the medical. Right now it'll cost about the same to stay a week in Montreal and do it there as it would. to fly to BC and do the medical and then fly to Montreal for the interview.

    Hi,

I just got my interview letter by e-mail. Yeh!

So I guess that I can call and make an appointment for the medical. I'm still not all that sure of the process for that but I will read some more. Does anyone know how far in advance you must do your medical in Montreal?

    Thanks

  15. Whoops, should have been more specific that "three weeks" was for the IV package review to case complete and not the entire time at NVC.

And yes, took the EP route.

    Hi,

your travel through NVC seems to be like mine. Did EP and they reviewed the IV at the same time as the AOS. Now we just wait for interviews.
