From my understanding, you cannot drive here in US with your HK driver license.
I am not sure but you can try AAA to see if they are able to issue you an international driver permit by providing them your foreign license.

Although I did call to get my case number, I honestly still couldn't figure out what this number is for except for status check purpose.
I mean, I don't need it to file DS-160 and pay the fee and I have to wait for Packet 3 & 4 anyway in order to schedule medical exam and get a police clearance report.
Maybe it's country specific but the embassy will assign you an interview date after you mailed back the Packet 3.

My approved I-129F was shipped to NVC on Aug12.
I called NVC and got the case number today and has also been told that it was mailed out to the local embassy last Friday.
Any advices on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

You can't do the DS-160 without a Case # if I'm not mistaken.
I believe you can coz they just need the USCIS case number instead.
To my understanding, you need the NVC case number to pay the fee and schedule medical.

I called my congressman's office before and was informed we were approved! No change in status in the USCIS website nor next notice but the person who had been helping me called back and was told that we were approved over the weekend (which means that missed call from USCIS was about that) and that the case would be sent to the NVC.
I want to thank everyone on this thread, you've been a fantastic source of support and information. Anyone still waiting for their NOA2 definitely contact your local congressperson or senator if you haven't done so already. Every case is different and every state is different but it's a big help. Good luck!
Congrats!!! May I know which congressman you contacted?

good someone is working on your case now, great feeling
No.
To my understanding, A-number was assigned to the beneficiary as soon as they received your I-129F.
In other words, they basically told me nothing but to wait.

Filed an e-request a week ago and below is the response:
"The status of this service request is:
An A-number was assigned to the beneficiary resulting in the case status update reflecting an A-number change."

Sorry to hear that but no worry as it's just a matter of procedure and extra tests that they have to follow.
In regards to the passport, they will not keep it until you provided them all your medical record when it's ready.
In fact, they will give you a "blue slip" which states that there are some missing documents needed.
Hope this help.
