Hi VJ team, I've filed in February 2015 for AOS for my husband too but has not heard anything about his green card from USCIS. My husband received his work permit about 2 months ago. I check the USCIS website on his green card and status hasn't changed. Anyone going through the chicago, IL office experiencing delay in processing AOS?
-
Although it is exciting to get approved by USCIS (NOA2), that is not the "official" approval for the visa. For me, NOA2 means I have all the documents required for the K1 petition. The real excitment is when the interview at the embassy gets approved. Good luck to all!

thatangela, are you still stuck in this K1 process until now? OMG....I did the K1 process back in July 2014 too, and my fiance is already here. I haven't been back for awhile, and today, I came back to visit my VJ family and see your post here. I hope things change course for the better for you. Best of Luck.

Do you feel like it's taking forever for your case file to reach the National Visa Center? Then this thread is for you!
It is not for you if:
- You have been waiting less than three to four weeks, or 25 business days, or 30 days or 42 days for your case file to reach NVC (these are the random timelines the NVC reps tell you when you call to check for your case number)
- You have received your case number and want to tell everyone how happy you are about it
- You have been waiting however long for your NOA-2 from TSC or your CR-1 approval or whatever; this is for K-1 visa applicants who are waiting a very long time for their NVC case number
Several VJers currently are in the 70- to 80-day range, waiting for California Service Center to send their I-129f case files to New Hampshire. We are approaching the expiration dates on the I-797 (the NOA-2). We are helping each other with the process and I figure more of you are out there but lost in the process.
We have been commiserating in this thread; however, this new thread can serve as a central repository for advice, assistance and complaining.
It's OK to complain, by the way. Many people will tell you to have patience or to chill out. Patience and frustration DO NOT HAVE TO BE EXCLUSIVE OF EACH OTHER. The process is frustrating, especially when you hear a different story every time you call USCIS.
Thus far, we have been told our case files were redirected to our local offices (for me, Spokane, WA); they have been misdirected to the National Research Center (where immigration files go to die); NVC is backlogged and CSC is alleviating that workload by holding back files; and, most bizarrely, a courier is on standby waiting for the right size of packet to be sent to NVC.
We watch as others receive their case numbers in nine days, 10 days, and 20 days. If you have been waiting long past a month for your case number, here are the steps you need to take (many thanks to USMSBOW for his legwork):
1. Scan a copy of your NOA-2 and send it as an email attachment to NVCResearch@state.gov. Here is an example of the email you should send:
Hello,
I was instructed this morning to send you a copy of my I-797 notice from USCIS, which I've attached. USCIS approved my K1 petition on (month day, year), but my case has yet to arrive at NVC.
My receipt #: ABC##########
Petitioner: Name and date of birth
Beneficiary: Name and DOB
You can contact me at this e-mail address (frustrateddude@visajourney.com) or at 1-123-123-4567. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any more information.
Thank you,
(Give me my damn case number)
2. Call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 and request to speak to Tier 2 Immigration Officer. A Tier 1 agent is no assistance at this point. You must speak to an IO. If your Tier 1 agent refuses, hang up and keep calling until you find a T-1 who will connect you to a T-2. Do not fall for their 90-day baloney. Your I-797 is approaching its expiration date. This is crazy.
You will receive vague, uninformative information from your service request via snail mail. Do not settle for this. Call for another Tier 2 and request further assistance.
You can open a service request on your own on the USCIS website, after you create an account and login to your case file. I don't know if this works. We have not tried this. We preferred to speak verbally with an IO.
3. Contact your representatives in Congress and/or the Senate. Others have seen their cases sped up by doing this. While our Congresswoman is one of the most powerful women in the G.O.P., we have yet to see resolution in this arena but it's only been two weeks since we contacted her office. Once you contact your representative, you will have to fill out a privacy disclosure form. Only then can your rep take action. Get this done as quickly as you can.
Please note: your government representative cannot intervene for an approval or for expedition. He or she can only assist with locating your file.
You can find your representatives on these websites:
4. If you are at your wit's end and nothing thus far has given you satisfaction, file a Case Assistance request with the USCIS Ombudsman. You can email this department at cisombudsman@hq.dhs.gov.
I did this just yesterday and today received a form letter directing me to an online form. I attempted this link from the Ombudsman's web page but was given an Access Denied error page. I am at least able to open the form from within the email.
PLEASE NOTE: None of these steps has resolved our situation at this date. I - and hopefully the others - will continue to provide updates to our cases and let you know where and how we achieved success.
ALSO NOTE: I apologize for the lengthy post. I'm a professional writer with a full bottle of wine that's almost empty. That always spells trouble.
ALSO ALSO NOTE: Said wine is the culprit behind any syntax or grammatical errors you may find. I at least ran everything through spellcheck.
ALSO ALSO ALSO NOTE: Drinking is a good idea through this process. If you haven't started yet, I highly recommend red blends from Washington's Columbia Valley, vodka or craft beer.
Good luck. Please let us know if you have attained any resolution in retrieving your NVC case number after a lengthy wait.

k to everyone.

I'm a July filier too...my fiance is having his interview tomorrow morning (this evening USA Time). I am soooo nervous about the interview...so afraid it will be denied. I need all the prayers from my VJ family. I'll update you as soon as I know. (fingers/toes crossed).

I checked on CEAC website and my k1 peitition status is "ready". What does this mean? Does it mean the embassy has received it? It is safe to fill out the online DS 160 form? please help.
-
That is a generic msg. I called NVC and they told me the US Embassy will schedule the interview.
thanks for the clarification. One more message to confused everyone. thanks again
-
Ok VJ members, I checked my case and this is what it says:
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
So, NVC already scheduled the interview date for my beneficiary? Has anyone experienced this before? please shed some light. Also, how can I track my file through DHL?
-
Finally, I called NVC this morning and got my case number. Yes.....one step closer
-
I received my NOA2 9/15 and the petition was shipped 9/25. I called the NVC this morning. They don't have it and told me that I need to wait 4 weeks of it to get there. Is this normal???? I feel like it's travelling from Texas to NH by horse and buggy?
Where do you go to find out when your file was shipped to NVC? My NOA2 was 10/1 and I've been calling NVC since and each time I called, NVC said they don't have my file yet. I'm reading the post in here and alot of people with NOA2 around my date and after has received their case number from NVC. Please let me know where to go to find out the shipped date.
-
Ok so I want to clarify this stage in the K1 process. I got my NOA2 on 10/1 and called a few times to NVC but they said they don't have my file yet. I'm doing it because everyone else is doing it too but I am unclear what to do once I get the case number from NVC, other than wait until the file is shipped to the embassy in the beneficiary's country and having the embassy contact the beneficiary for the next step. Please clarify what I can do with the case number once I get it to speed up the process. thanks.

OMG!!!! I just got a message that my K1 application is APPROVED!!!! This is a great!!!!

Has any July2014 filer received their NOA2 yet?
-
Does anyone know where California Service Center is at with processing K1 app? I am really hoping to get an interview by Dec 2014.
-
This IS FRAUD all the way. You will not find sympathy here as you expected. I feel sorry for your US husband, he didn't know he was being played all along. Sorry to be rude but you really don't deserve any sympathy or help at all.
-
urgh.......this waiting game is killing me too. the only thing that is changing on my file is "the processing time being push backward". it started out being the first week of Sept and now it is sitting in Oct. I am hurting bad too....

on affadavit support form I134 line 1A, it asked for the neutralizatin number and I am a US citizen through US neutralization but I misplaced my neutralization certificate. What do I put in this line? It cost money and time to get a copy of the certificate. Anyone experiencing this issue too, and how did you handle it? help me.....

Ok team, so I need a joint sponsor for my K1 app. My fiance's sister and brother in law is willing to do the joint sponsor. What form do I need to fill out for the affifadavit of support for joint sponsor?
February 2015 AOS Filers
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
Posted
I think there must be some kind of delay because a lot of AOS filer around the same time has already gotten their green card. My status is still saying something like " we have received your application for adjustment". Status has not changed since Feb 2015.
