  1. Hi all,

My sister is a US Citizen. She acquired her citizenship through my parents when they became Naturalized US Citizens before my sister turned 18.

Now, my sister is filing I-130 for her spouse. My sister doesn't have Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship.

She just has her valid US Passport.

Is her US Passport sufficient to prove her US Citizenship when she files I-130 for her spouse ?

Congratulation! One question, do you see anyone who cant not turn in his/her GC since the card was lost and the replacement is not ready yet? Or these people have to wait until their get the new GC then be naturalized

They collected the Green Card and the completed Oath Ceremony letter first. Then, they handed the Naturalization Certificate and asked us to take the Oath.

You could explain to them that you have lost your Green Card, and I think they will make a note of it in the Oath Ceremony letter at the top.

I don't think they will stop your Oath Ceremony just because you lost your GC. Don't worry. You will be fine.

  4. My wife had her Citizenship interview today in San Francisco. She passed. The oath ceremony is scheduled for Oct 4. Almost done with the process.

Good luck to others who are waiting. You are almost there too.

We applied under 5 yr rule and was asked to show her foreign passport, Green card, and photo id. Then, she was asked questions about our marriage, child, and travel. They were pretty straight forward Q&As. Just be truthful with your answers. You all will be fine.

Hello everyone, got finished with my interview and oath ceremony today in San Francisco. Everything went smooth and painless, no documents were asked except ID, green card and my passport. Got into the office at 12:40 and was out around 1:15. The oath ceremony took place in the same building just around the corner at 3:15.

Hope this will help to all those who still have to go through this process. Good luck!

Thanks. My wife will also take the interview in San Francisco end of this month.

Can u tell us if you applied based on 3 year rule or 5 year rule ? Wondering what originals they will ask my wife. We applied based on 5 year rule.

    Thanks

Hi guys , I have question regarding travels outside US.

Long story short, I am hitting 5 year anniversary as PR soon, starting preparing the N400, online, and after collected all my travel history in past 5 years, and realized I have 3 trips in which I went out 3 months+, with the longest about 4.5 months. Is that gonna be an issue I need to get some sort of documents to explain? If so what do I need ? Thanks

No need to worry as long as the foreign trip is less than 180 days.

Just submit your Tax transcripts for last 3 years. That's sufficient.

My window opens next week and I plan to submit the docs week after next . For those filing under the 5 year rule , any additional documents we need to upload other than GC and Marriage certificate ?

    Good luck everyone !

Chicago filer here and based on the processing time , I have a 12-18 months wait ahead.

    1. Birth Certificate of your kids
    2. last 3 years of tax transcripts (optional)
