  1. Thank you guys! I am in the hotel now, I'll walk to the embassy to see how to get there, Since it's less than a mile from the hotel :)

Good luck tomorrow! Like everyone else has said, the interview is more a conversation -- and a very short one, too. :)

  2. I received an email today from DoS with the tracking number for DX courier. I then called DX and found out that I can collect my passport tomorrow morning from their depot. I never got an email from DX. Well, not yet, anyway. So for a timeline, if anyone is interested:

    Interview: Wednesday 29th October

CEAC Status - "Issued": Tuesday 4th October

DoS Email with DX tracking number: Thursday 6th November

Passport collection from DX depot: Friday 7th November

[PoE -- Saturday 8th November. Yay!!!! :dancing: :joy: :dancing: ]

  3. I know this might sound a bit desperate, but I am SO over the waiting! My CEAC status changed to "Issued" yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Does this mean the passport with the visa in it was handed over to DX, and is with DX now? Or does it mean they still need to print the visa out and stick it in the passport? If it is with DX, I haven't got any text/email from them yet. I could at least call them and bother them about it. But if it is still at the embassy, I guess there's nothing I can do, right?

  4. What option did you select when you were sending them a message? In my experience, they seem to respond better to some options compared to others. I would say, use one of these two and start the message as if you were mailing them for the first time. And give them a marriage date or something and plead! It worked for me, I hope it does for you too. Good luck!

I wish to reschedule my immigrant or K visa interview
I wish to know the status of my immigrant or fiancé visa application

  5. Yes, he can easily be there before Christmas. When you submit the applicant readiness form online, be sure to select a marriage date which is very near. Also, where they ask you about specific travel plans, tell them you are planning to fly out on a date that is really close-by. They don''t need any proof of this. The time to interview varies, but this is one way in which you can influence it and make it closer. If you do not hear back from them within a reasonable amount of time, do not hesitate to contact them through their website - I know the opinion is mixed on this one, but I'd rather be pushing for it, than sit and wait endlessly. Good luck!

  6. Oh! I didn't notice that option on the list. Thanks for pointing it out. I have now sent them a message through there. Hopefully that should work.

    Thanks again! :)

So, to finish this discussion, in case anyone else has this question: after you submit the online contact-us form with the option of '"I would like to bring my fiance/spouse to the interview"' -- with his/her name mentioned in the details box -- you get an acknowledgement from the embassy by e-mail, telling you that the name has been added to the visitors' list for the day. I just got that email! :)

  7. The contact form with the reason ticked " I would like to add the name of my U.S. citizen spouse/child to my IV appointment". It sounds like you asked for a new appointment date but maybe not specifically to be added to the list.

Or just be good at talking your way in if not on the list by showing what you have. I (American) showed up on the day and got in. Queen of Blades went inside and asked somebody when her fiancé was refused. He got in. And there's the story already posted in this thread by efmyel.

Oh! I didn't notice that option on the list. Thanks for pointing it out. I have now sent them a message through there. Hopefully that should work.

    Thanks again! :)

  8. I flew into London the night before my fiancé's appt at the Embassy (ours was a more difficult case, and our lawyer strongly suggested I attend.) I had prepared all of the paperwork, with his immigration lawyer overseeing. When we arrived at the embassy, my name was not on the list for me to go in with him--not sure how! I politely argued that there was some mistake and showed the binder of information I had put together, stated that I was the petitioner, and had flown in from the US the previous night to be there for it. The woman took my passport and information, called inside and was able to put me on the list. We went in and I accompanied him during the interview. Everything went fine, he was approved. We are now married living in the states. So yes, you can go in, just be sure to put your name on that list!, or prepare to be incredibly persuasive.

There's a place on on the online visa contact form to tick ... I would like to add the name of my U.S. citizen spouse/child to my IV appointment. Do you have that form bookmarked?

I did read one person say on here in the last month or so that their fiancé was refused entry. They were told it was a change. But does one reported incident make it a for sure new rule? I would certainly ask for her name to be added if she is going to be in town. I wouldn't spend a fortune flying over just to go to the interview, unless you have plenty money to spare.

So I wrote to the embassy to request if they can bring my interview date forward so that my fiance could attend the interview with me, and they have been kind enough to grant me an earlier date. It's now on the 29th.

I entered his details in the Applicant Readiness form, and I have the email correspondence in which I asked for an earlier interview date stating the reason, and a reply to that email giving me the interview date. Is there anything else i should do to make sure they let him in on the day? He will carry his US passport, of course. Can we do anything to get him on that list that you mention, in addition to what I did already?

And thank you for your help! I don't know what I'd do if it wasn't for this forum. :)

  9. My interview is at November 7th at 8:00am :)

Yaaayy!! Congrats! Not long now! :)

Also, I am trying to pay for the MRV fee but I put in my card details and it says it doesn't accept my card, A visa debit? Anyone else had this issue.

I had that issue when I tried paying with my MasterCard CREDIT card. But it accepted my Visa Debit. I think it only takes Debit cards...

  10. I sent one of those contact forms to the London Consulate this morning and they just responded back via email saying that it's okay select 9am but you must be there for 8am, that's a relief :) And I believe we need a copy of the receipt (for the MRV fee) and a copy of the 'home delivery' receipt if you choose to pay for that extra!

What is MRV? I just printed out the payment confirmation that I got in the end on that site. Is that the one?

  11. Hi all, just a quick question!

I received a letter yesterday with my visa interview (November 6th at 8am)

I followed the instructions on the letter to register and pay the K Visa Fees, and after I tried to enter my Consular appointment and time for London, but it only had the appointment time slots from 9am on the drop down menu, but obviously my letter says my appointment is at 8am, I was just wondering if anyone else had just put 9am, or what else to do? I'm definitely on the immigrant part of the site.

Any answers would be great! Thank you :)

I had the same problem, and I just put it down as 9:00AM. I don't think this will be a problem.

Also, do we need to print the receipt out and take it as proof of payment on the interview day?

  12. I got a letter in the post today! My interview in November 6th.

I must admit I was worried after you found out today about your interview that something had happened to my application.

Also, can I just say (I'm going to put a separate post up after) that CEAC updates mean very little indeed. My application updated on Sept 30th - when the consulate must have received my file; then again October 8th - when they must have received my medical results.

Anyhow, a great sense of relief!

    Best of luck to everyone.

Congrats! And I agree - the updates seem to be only vaguely related to any events we can attribute to them. For instance, in their email this morning they said the letter was posted to me on the 17th. I had no update on the 17th. And the other updates I noticed were also not strictly related to any of the events I was trying to attribute to them. It's all mostly speculation.

But I will say this: all that speculation and hyperventilation is only par for the course. It's difficult to sit back and not wonder/worry/do something while you're waiting. For my part, I will never know if the embassy took its own course, or my continual prodding had any impact, but I wouldn't have been able to just sit there and not do anything.

  13. Thank you all! I'm am over the moon! Well, I was until an hour ago -- and then I failed in a test I had to take for work :( . No, actually I'm still excited. Screw the test!

I don't know if it just took the normal course of things, or if some of my hyperventilation about it helped, but I'm glad they've responded. Hopefully the visa will come through all OK and I can be there before Thanksgiving. Yay!!

Good luck to all of you - I hope I can see some/all of you on the day at the embassy! :)

  14. Also, was it by a letter or an email/phonecall that you got the date?

I got a reply to my second email, which I sent on Saturday, in which they said I should wait 6 weeks from the date when they have all the forms. And below that it said my interview is scheduled for the 4th of Nov! And when I got home a couple of hours later, there was the letter in the post, confirming the interview.

  15. You lot have stirred each other up into pure insanity. There is nothing wrong with your cases except you haven't given them enough time to assign an interview. You've created stories of what each update means. You've set yourself up for daily disappointment over and over by checking the status and thinking it will give you answers. You are paranoid they lost something.

RW365, your timeline says your medical was October 8, so maybe the results were couriered to the embassy on Tuesday Oct 14 at the earliest. The embassy was closed Monday which means more stuff to catch up on. Do you really think you would have a letter in the post just four working days later? They don't work that fast. It will happen in due time and all this frenzy you've created is clouding your common sense. Did you expect your petition to be approved in a week? No. Your expectations for the embassy are unrealistic.

Have you seen this on the website ?

I SUBMITTED MY FORMS WHY HAVENT I RECEIVED AN INTERVIEW DATE?

It takes approximately 6 weeks for forms to be received and registered on an individual applicants file from the date on which they are mailed to the Immigrant Visa Unit. An interview will not be scheduled until the Imigrant Visa Unit is in receipt of all of the forms required to process the application and a medical examination. If it has been more than 6 weeks since you submitted the forms and attended a medical examination with the panel physician, please contact us using the Visa Contact form . Please note that if it has been less than six weeks since you submitted the forms in support of your application, you will not receive a response to your inquiry.

The bolded part might be why they are not in a hurry to answer your emails. You are choosing to make yourself miserable with all this. The embassy will get to you when they get to you and all your guessing is wasted effort. Why not start studying AOS paperwork. Here's a preview of things to do.

    AOS list

Haha! Yes, you're probably right! It's probably nothing, and I'm just worriting too much! The last few days of this wait are the worst, though. Although the "'not-knowing what's going on"' bit should be hardly surprising. It's been more or less that way all along anyway.

We'll just have to wait and see.

[And thanks for the AoS link. As it turns out, I have all the forms filled out and ready to be sent already! See how much I want this to just get over!? Haha]

  16. I checked for you and It says that both of them have been submitted, So I'll just leave it at that and ask which one to take to the interview with me.

Well, I couldn't contain myself, so I submitted a new DS-160 with the LND number, and a new applicant readiness form, and sent another message telling them I used the correct case number this time, hence the new submission.

    This is all so stressful!
