Yep! after 17 years living in the USA, I realize that I miss my hometown, my family and my friends that I grew up with! I was so happy to move here in 1994, it changed my life for the better and I will never regret it. But, it seems that people change through life and your needs as well. After divorcing from my wife, I end up alone and underemployed...there's no reason for me to stay. Thinking about moving back to Canada.
Any people having to same situation?

If if cannot live on a 48K salary, you have major issues. Lots of people lives on a lot less than that.

Hi all, I am a "former" canadian who has a US citizenship by naturalization BUT want to move back and live in Canada. Will it cause me any trouble? Can I keep my dual citizenships in Canada? will I be able to return in USA if I decide Canada is not for me?
Your input will be appreciated.
Eric.

I have a female friend who lives and works in the united states as a nurse with green card for 5 years now and she wants to apply for US citizenship. She has no criminal record but she have had money problem with lots of debt and foreclosure on 2 houses in the last couple of years due to a relation with a bad and lazy ex-boyfriend. My question is, does this bad credit history could affect her when applying for citizenship? She's a good citizen, works her butt off to re-pay her debt and she is a mom of an american little girl. Please, a answer would help greatly...Thanks in advance.

You are awesome Karenros
If you typed this post, you won't have any problems with English, they did not give us neither the book nor CD at our biometrics, but since they made us drive another 450 miles for the 3rd set, I requested it for my wife. Took them awhile, but they found one. Don't be afraid to ask, says so right on your biometrics appointment. Also found a bunch of sites on the internet where they want a small fortune for the book and CD. Wondering where their source is, or are they just making copies.
Thanks Nick! I'll make sure to ask them for the study book at the biometrics! I paid $80 so I need something in return besides the fingerprints!

Hello all, I have a question here for the ones who know about this matter. I am soon to make a decision about applying for American citizenship or just keeping my 10-years resident GC. But first I would like to know all the advantages and benefits of having Dual citizenship vs permanent residency.
Can I get back my canadian health insurance?
Can I go live in Canada for a long period of time without being penalized on the US side?
Can I get both retirement social security benefits (Can and US) when I retire?
Please add any advantage you might know about
Thank you.

Having dated various American women long term, then living overseas for 5 years, I actually agree with what the website owner discusses. However, some of it is written in rather crude language.
Did you make your wife sign a marriage contract?
Oh yes I did! Made her signed a pre-nuptual agreement and all. I have learned from everybody's mistakes. It may seems un-romantic but a Marriage is a big contract and you have to treat it like its a business and protect your assets and your future if the partnership's going bad.

with no more jobs to offer, professionel with degrees who had their jobs shipped to india now working McDonald's jobs, no health care for their citizens, the country going down with trillion$$$ in national debt. Unhapiness among the US population is skyrocketing compares to other nations. Over spending on luxuries we can't afford and greedy corporations who back us up with sub-prime loans, growing gap between the struggling middle class and the riches, the exhausting rat race for having more stuff than the Joneses now become a race just to stay above the water, broken families and children idolazing studid rock stars and models over their prozac filled parents who are drowned in credit card debt and over valued estates, China loaning us money so we can buy their own produced ####### at Walmart who hires illegal workers at discounted salaries.
Is it the end for our beautiful USA?
We are very lucky !! Their are many people in other countries that have nothing. Like the people in Pakistan, so many have left thier homes with only the clothes on thier back. Take a look at all the other countries before you speak of USA.
These comments are expected since this is an immigration forum and lots of people from defavorized country are posting here.
My point of view might differ from a little from these immigrants. I've been in the USA for 15 years now and I know what I'm talking about. There's a decline in the quality of life for a lot of folks happening right now in the USA and you don't need the media to tell you so...you just need to look around you. When I started this thread, I just wanted to point this out. I never said it is miserable to live here...I'm just saying that there's a shifting going on for the worst.
Peace all.

With a rate of 26% of US population with a college degree, that means 3/4 of US citizens don't see the future with optimism?
I'd like to know if there are any blue collar workers in this forum who are feeling the pinch in this economy.

Land of milk and honey? I guess I don't hang out with the right gang! everybody I know seems to struggle, losing their houses, their jobs, filing for bankruptcy etc... most of my friends moved back to Canada. I don't know maybe I've lost faith about the american dream a bit lately.
