  1. great pics tina and abby!!!!

we had out biometrics a month ago and then got a REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE because the mr's tax returns for the advait of support are below %.. if they bothered to even look at our previous evidence they would know that prior to 2013 he lived in australia with me and worked there.. so now we gotta get all the same evidence i needed for the K1 interview but updated eg. bank letters, employer letter AGAIN which is frustrating because i couldnt get a visa in the first place without all that ####### and now i have to get it again.. so its held up my EAD and travel permit. Im at breaking point because i wanted to go back to australia for new years/ have a honeymoon with my husband...

Im not sure about anyone else but besides for the lovely fact im with my husband i feel like a prisoner here ... cant work/ cant leave/ cant apply for credit card (so cant go shopping)/ urgh.. i should be greatful but im wondering what i gave up in australia to be treated like 3rd world citizen in usa... hmpf

hugs. My hubby feels just like you. He says he feels like a prisoner and that he is just stuck. we just mailed our AOS in, and haven't heard when to go for the biometrics yet.

I got him on my credit card though, can your husband do that for you? They sent him his own card and everything.

I am sorry you got an RFE. Hang in.

  2. Neither my fiance or I received packet 3. Finally after about 6 wks from getting the NOA2 i emailed the Sydney consulate only to hear that they had emailed packet 3 to me, US the petitioner, with an interview date for my AU fiance that had come and gone... I never received an email version of packet 3!!!! He is rescheduled and they told us to bring a copy of the emails documenting that he or i never received packet 3 or interview date.

He has his interview in 4 days, but it looks as though he will not have his police clearance done by then. What a roller coaster nightmare this has been.

Not sure what process is if he doesn't have his clearance in hand.

Ugh! Sorry that you had that happen. From what I understand, he can still attend the interview and then once the police certificate comes in, have that sent to Sydney and they will process the additional information and (hopefully :)) the visa.

    Good Luck!

  3. My fiance had his medical in Melbourne, at the Port. He had to get 2 extra shots whilst there, even though he had seen his GP to get up to date prior to the medical. They made him get the flu shot and one other, which we cannot remember. (sorry)

The flue shot is required in a certain time frame of the year (seasonal) so you may not be required to have that one. But anyway, he paid all together $530.00.

  4. Hi,

I am so confused with the information on the websites, emails from sydneyiv@state.gov and the information that I found on these forums. To be honest, information given by forum members are so much direct and informative than the US consulate!

My appointment for the k1 visa is in 2 weeks. I have received a packet 3 checklist via email and NO other documents via post. I have been reading previous posts dating back to January of this year and have read that people have sent their packets away to the consulate in Sydney. Has the process changed since, as I have never sent anything away anywhere since the start of the petition. My fiancé sent away the petition in states and that was it, waited and was only told last week that there has been a scheduled appointment already made in 2 weeks time.

It seems too easy of a process for me, gather my documents, have medical examination done and bring everything with me to the visa interview. Is this correct? Also where can I get the photos done to their specifics?

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers,

    Sammie

As the previous poster said, yep, just follow the instructions in the email.

As far as your passport pictures, my fiance went to Australia Post to have them done.

    Good luck. :)

  5. I am going to assume your fiance forwarded you the email they received with the date of the interview and in it will be the "readiness" checklist with everything you will need to bring to the interview; it is an attachment to the email. I almost missed it myself in the excitement of getting a date.

But yes, go off that list, and it is only for you, the beneficiary, as far as your birth certificate, divorce papers, etc.... I sent many more documents with my fiance to take with him, but had them in a separate folder should they ask for them at the interview.

He handed in the items on the checklist and they did not request any further documents from him.

    Good luck!

  6. This forum has seriously been a life saver. I probably would have had a mental breakdown if it wasn't for all the lovely helpful people on VJ!

Now that you have cleared some confusion up for me I need to contact the people I am having the medical with. I hope the consulate gets the results in time. It is on Thursday the 18th and my interview is Tuesday the 23rd. That is the closest date I could get because they gave me such a close interview time!

Are you having the medical at Port Melbourne? That's where my fiance had his. It took 10 days for the results to be ready to be picked up, but that could have been bc they were busy...the receptionist told Matt the doctor was backed up at that time (this was beginning of July). Even if they don't get it done before your interview, they can mail it off to Sydney I would think; you just wouldn't get your approval till they processed that...

  7. Thank you!

And you will be- my fiance's one tip about the interview- ok, maybe 2 tips- stay in the Travelodge on Phillips Street and the day/night before make a trial walk over to where the Embassy is.

It's like a high-end shops- boutiques, etc, you go in the MLC centre, and follow the signs to the lifts. Take that the 3rd floor, talk to reception then you will go to level 10, turn right, you will see the US consulate door sign. They open at 8 AM. His appt time was 8AM, so it was strange to me that they opened at 8 but whatever lol. He lined up and was first thru. Total time there was 30 minutes. :) There were other people there waiting as well.
