This might be a long shot but have people try to complain to Congressman/Congresswoman, Senators in their district about Seattle office? I don't understand why some places have multiple USCIS offices (like LA where it takes less than 3 months to complete citizenship), and Seattle office that serves almost the entire state??

LA County alone is home to 30% more people than the entire state of WA and the proportion of immigrants/people susceptible to deal with USCIS down there is much higher than WA.

Hi everyone! I applied 11 May 2020, biometrics were taken July 17th, i see lot of more recent cases been already processed for interviews.

Anyone from May 2020 filling date experiencing the same delay?

I applied a month later in June 2020 and had to go for biometrics a week later than your date in July, I have not heard back so far (12 months completion time).

Those getting interviews have dealt with USCIS before and received a biometrics re-use notice at some point.

From two data points I am aware of, we should expect an interview around six months after biometrics, in other words well into 2022.

Hi everyone.  So i resigned forum my job 6 months after applying and moved states.  The main reason was lack of daycare for my son. I'm currently a full time mom living with a relative.  Will this be an issue if I'm unemployed during my interview?  Anyone have insight on this?

Employment is not a condition to qualify for citizenship, you have nothing to worry about.

Interesting. I received a letter telling me I did not need to go in to do my biometrics in December 2020. It seems like the 3 year and 5 year residency applicants are on a different timeline.

Applicants based on marriage had to deal with USCIS at one point before their naturalization process so their biometrics were on file.

I'm from a different program and have never dealt with a local USCIS office until last month for my biometrics.

New here. Have been lurking for a while. I have the exact same timeline as @leethompson (applied online June 2020, same 3 year, married to USC),  and have not heard back yet. Online estimate says approximately 9 months but from reading some posts here, their online timeline doesn’t mean anything. Anyone else with a similar timeline that has not heard anything?

I'm a June 2020 applicant as well but I applied under 5-years residency and had to go for biometrics last month. Estimated completion time shows 13 months, status says USCIS is actively reviewing my case as of my biometrics day.

    Folks,

has anyone applied for enhanced driver license after naturalization. I want to know the process of getting one.

My wife is changing jobs and the new employer needs the proof of citizenship. We have applied for passport so the naturalization certificate is sent there. Just wondering if we could get an EDL to show proof of citizenship.

You can't apply for an EDL without the original naturalization certificate. You now have to wait to get the passport or the certificate back.

Well, I've now passed that 365 day mark since filing my N-400.

Has anyone been noticing any patterns aside from south-Seattleites being punted to Portland?

I originally filed with an I-751 in progress (which was then processed and completed separately) and didn't have an interview for that (but had one at AOS).

My filing is under the three year rule, as I'd been married to my husband and held a green card for >3 years. I received a biometrics re-use letter before the holidays.

I applied a week before you did. Nothing since, not even a biometrics appointment (I'm supposed to get one as I've never interacted with USCIS here).

My account says 9 days until decision on case (USCIS jokes at their finest).

  8. I'm kinda in the same boat. I got my 10 year GC in 09/2015, though had to leave to my home country to finish my last year of university and came back in 06/2016, with a couple of trips to the US in between. I've been living continuously in the US ever since except for short vacations (<1 month). I'm wondering if I can file for citizenship in 06/2020? The calculator on USCIS says yes.

  9. Hi everyone,

I became a PR in September 2015, then went back to my home country to complete my last year of bachelor's which I successfully got in June 2016. Right after that I moved to the US for good.

I'm wondering when's the earliest date I can apply for citizenship, Sep 2020 or June 2021 (I have no intention of leaving the US except for my couple vacation weeks every year)?

    Thanks

  10. Today (exactly one week after my interview) I picked up my passport with the long awaited visa on it from Loomis in Burnaby, BC.

I also paid the USCIS fee right after I got back home.

To folks who already made the move across the border, how long have you been waiting for after entry as a LPR to get the plastic GC and the SSN card?

    Cheers

  11. Congrats on your approval!

From my experience you won't need a re-entry permit - returning within a year after first departure will be fine.

The SSN card should be dispatched automatically within 7-10 days, usually, if you checked the box. Occasionally something goes wrong though. I've seen someone else report they tried to apply for a SSN card in a different state from wher they wanted to settle and weren't allowed, but I don't know if that is a rule or not.

Thank you Susie for your input!

Another thing I'm concerned about is the selective service, is it possible to register online (I need the SSN though)?

  12. And I'm back to finally announce that my visa was approved on August 6th yaay :) Visa status has been updated to issued yesterday as well.

The interview was pretty smooth, I initially submitted my country of birth's passport before getting to asked to submit my canadian passport instead since I'm a dual citizen.

I was asked to provide proof of financial support, my bank account with a balance of 14K CAD seemed to do the job.

Next I had a quick chat with the consular officer who seemed a bit confused as to whether I need a re-entry permit or not. I still have 2 terms to complete at school before grad next spring, after which I'll be heading right away to settle in the US for good. In other words I will have roughly 8-9 months of absence from US soil from the date of first entry as a LPR. He said that I will need to ask at the border if I need to apply for a re-entry permit or not.

Also do you know if my SSN will be processed right after my entry into the US (I checked the question that asks for it on DS260) or I still need to go to an office and apply in person? In the latter case is it possible to apply for it in a state (say WA) and have it delivered in a different one (PA or CA)?
