  1. Hi VJ,

I applied for my social security number on the 10th of September. I was told i will receive it in four weeks. After two weeks a letter came informing me that i have applied for SSC and i should be receiving it in two weeks. Three week passed without any card in my mail. I went to the social security office and the lady told me that, they sent it to my mail but maybe my mail does not have my name that is why it was not delivered so she reapplied for another card. I got a mail today telling me that my I-94 and immigration status will expire in November so they can not issue the SSC unless i bring prove that it is not expiring soon. Has anyone experienced this kind of issue? I applied for my 1-485 i September and my EAD on the 12 of October that means i won't get anything than till probably January. Does this process take that long. Also am travelling to Florida in November but my K1 visa expires a week before i travel. Will i have an issue with CBP?

  2. Hi VJs

I recieved my text for my I-485 biometric and I-131 on friday . I did not submit my 797(Employment Authorisation) because i was told by someone at USCIS that it was better for me to wait for the NOA on my i-485 before applying for my i-797.

Do any of you have the say issue?

  3. thanks you for your answer.

unfortunately I do not have my first coming to Iran ticket. I have other things that you mentioned, but all of these are in another language (in Persian) should I translate them to English? and these kind of documents are enough?

    Hi

You can find information about translating your document to english here http://www.uscis.gov/forms/file-my-application-online-e-filing/submitting-supporting-documentation

Yes these documents are enough. If USCIS needs any additional documents, they will send you a mail requesting for additional evidence "-I-129F RFE". Which will delay the processing time. It is best to add any document which will support your petition.

I have attached a checklist document to help you with your submission. Please fill the document and add it as a cover letter when submitting your documents. Arrange your documents in that order so that it makes it very easy for USCIS to check your documents.

USCIS receives a lot of submissions each day and you don't want your documents to be delayed because the submission was not organized or done well

  4. Hi!

I can feel the NOA2 coming around the corner (PD Feb 25, NSC). Just curious how many months on average you spend at NVC Before the Visa is issued?

    Good luck everyone!

    Love

    Hi Danielhenson,

Two weeks after you receive the NOA2 you can contact the NVC to see if they have received your approved I-129F. You can contact them at 603 334-0700. Their homepage is here.Welcome to the US Department of State! Things move much faster now :).

Then the case is forward to the beneficiary home country. You can use the case number provide by NVC to track where your documents have been sent to your home US embassy.NVC uses DHL to send the package, which typically delivers a package worldwide within 3-5 business days.

  5. Hi Maryab

Well you are in a very good position to apply for the K1 visa. Since you've been with your fiance for over 2 years at the same place you have a lot of phone conversations, what'sapp, text messages, receipt, movies tickets, receipt of anything you've bought for him or receipt of anything he has bought for you and other stuff your can use us prove. Do you still have your plane ticket for your first visit? Also provide your return ticket.

In your I-129F Supplement - Part 2, Question 19. You can explain how you meet your fiancé and how long you have been together.

  6. Hi Naomarie4,

I don't know if Nairobi rans a different system from another country because, usually what happen is that the beneficiary or petitioner picks up the package from the embassy. The package contains the appointment date for the beneficiary and other information as to what to bring to the interview. These are birth certificate, police certificate, med report etc.

Secondly, again i don't know if Nairobi rans a different system because at Immigrant Visa like the K - Visas are paid at the embassy.

    Read below for more information.

  7. I bought the ticket last week through Kayak, for the price and flight duration i bought Royal Air Maroc, but i'm hearing a lot of horrible stories about the airline, reading reviews online isnt helping either. Emirates was $50 cheaper but 10hours more. I'm hoping her flight does not have any delays, i've been tracking Royal Air Maroc flights daily now and they seem to arrive 10-25mins before their scheduled arrival time so that sounds good.

Well, all i do before taking any flight is to pray. Don't worry you both will have a safe flight.

  8. Hello everyone, I am a new member of VJ and I must say I have learnt a lot in the few days that I have been reading members postings. I will be embarking on this journey soon. My fiancé lives in Ghana while I live in the US. I would love to know if there are any success stories of members that went through the Ghana consulate because most of the stories I have read so far are all denials. I am hoping to learn from others experiences. Thank you so much as you respond. It will be much appreciated. PS. My fiancé and I have both been married before, we have a one year age difference between the two of us( I am 30 and he is 31), he was denied a student visa to the US 2years ago and we have been engaged since January of 2015. My divorce became final in May of 2015. I am also planning to go visit him again this month for couple of days.Thank you all so much.

    Hi Abena,

How many times have you visited your fiancé? Do you take pictures when ever you come on your visits? Do you save you flight ticket? Do you save your receipts when you go out? Do you save your conversations and phone calls?

It doesn't matter if your fiancé has been denied before. I suggest that when you keep all these documents well. It will come in handy when your fiancé is going for his interview. I suggest that you label your documents well when he going for the interview. Try and make everything simple for the consulate because they have a lot of people to interview. Also provide all evidence of your relationship. This usually overwhelms the consular. You don't want to leave any doubt in the consulars mind.

I have witness the denial of marry fiancé visas because they showed evidence that they had done their traditional wedding. The US consulate considers traditional marriage in ghana as marriage and will not grant you a K1 Visa but will ask you to apply as IRI or CR1.

    All the best

  9. First of all i'll wish you the best of luck going through this process, it's stressful with all the waiting you have to do but just be strong. Use VJ to your advantage. I mailed my i-129f form two days before i started reading VJ,but it was good to read and get help from other members going through the same consulate.

My first advise is to make sure you use all original forms and make sure you mail everything to avoid RFE's. send a lot of pictures with the petition, pictures of the two of you and with family and friends in different locations, different dresses, time of day etc. i sent 10 to 15 pictures with my petition. I sent copies of our emails, yahoo chat, facebook chat and comments, every medium we used to communicate, but i believe they look at the pictures more than all these. According to my fiancee, the pictures were seperated from the folder when she went to the window for the interview so at least she knew they went through the pictures.

Find one or two people who are a step ahead of you in the process and communicate with them more, in that case you know what to expect and if there's any changes you get to know quickly, and the way the Ghana Cedi to dollars change everyday, at least you know how much you will spend every process, there are a lot of nice people here that will share their stories and their steps with you easily, i was lucky to find some and we use to send messages here and whatsapp or sometimes call to discuss the petition process. Always plan the next step ahead and start gathering your communication info. Do not wait the very last minute to print over 200+ pages. If you can print a week or two whatapp and other chat, do so.

Also just be positive and know every petition or everybody is different, we do not know what makes these people deny or approve a specific petition, so just do your best. I believe i was very lucky and God really helped. I've only visited Ghana once in the last 11 years which happened last year (which can be a red flag and she was asked about it), being in school, my income was just around the borderline. My pictures weren't labelled, i only had 4 money transfer receipts, she got my mother's first name wrong, and we were still approved. So pray and just do your part, anything you can do to help make your case more convincing, please do. Make sure the two of you stick with the same story for anything. If there's something you think the consulate will question, come with a good reason with your fiance for the interview.

U.S embassy in Ghana is very tough, but people get approved eventhough there's a lot of denials, but pray you are part of the approved ones, if not you go the marriage route.Every step is stressful, before you mail it till you are approved, even NVC can be stressful the dealing with the consulate and then waiting for a positive results on the interview date. I'm even stressed trying to get an affordable one way ticket for her to come later this month or early next month, but when the two of you communicate very well and keep each other updated, things will be easier.

Good luck again, you can always hit me up if you want to ask something

    Hi Yaoadjo

One way tickets are always expensive. I suggest you look at kayak. There is an app for it on iPhone and android. They have a very way of searching for cheap ticket on any airline. Best of luck

  10. Hi Trec

When you go back for your visa the embassy will give you a package with all your documents needed to process your residence permit. This document is sealed in an envelope. You are to pay an amount of 165 dollar to USCIS or something before your embark on your journey to america. You are to present the package at the port of entry. This will be used to process your documents. You will need to apply for a SSN when your get there. You are also expected to marry within 90days else you will have to leave the country and go through the whole process again.

  11. Hi VJ

I have been interviewed and my visa was approved on the 18th of June. I was asked to come for my visa on the 07th of July 2015 at 3:30pm. I got there, waited for over 2hours and was told their system was down when i swearing my oath so i need to swear the oath again and wait for three days for my visa. I came back on the third day and i waited for 5 hours and was told my visa is not ready at all.

When i checked my NIV status it still said ready and the date has been updated to the 7th of July 2015.

Has any of you had this issue before. Why are they taking so long to issue my visa. Is there the possibility that there is something wrong with my documents. I also read that after the 30th of September they don't issue any more visa for NIV. I also read that if the number of visa for the year is exhausted they do not issue anymore visa for that year.

  12. My fiancée and i are done filing the form and gone through the check list. But now we don't know if we should submit it to the USCIS in maryland since she lives in maryland or send it to this address

File Form I-129F at the USCIS Dallas Lockbox facility:

    For U.S. Postal Service (USPS):

    USCIS
    P.O. Box 660151
    Dallas, TX 75266

For USPS Express Mail and courier deliveries:

  13. I read this on a blog

"Fiance visa applicants are often asked to show that their sponsor is able to support them at 100% of the federal Poverty Guidelines. These guidelines are published annually and can be found on Form I-864P, published by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The sponsor may be asked to fill out an Affidavit of Support on USCIS Form I-134 (which is much shorter than the I-864 Affidavit that sponsors of immigrants for green cards must fill out)."

My annual salary is below the 125% guidelines but my fiancé's salary is above the 125% guidelines. Does that mean i still need to get a co - sponsor or my fiance's salary covers for me

I really don't get the whole co-sponorship thing. Please help

  14. Hi

I want to inquire from VJ if the statement below on the USCIS website affects me since i and my fiancee met just a year ago and we want to file for a K1-VISA.

She has travelled to spend her vacation with me twice since we meet.

    • You met each other, in person, at least once within 2 years of filing your petition.
    • There are two exceptions that require a waiver:
      1. If the requirement to meet would violate strict and long-established customs of your or your fiancé(e)’s foreign culture or social practice.
      2. If you prove that the requirement to meet would result in extreme hardship to you.
