  1. I had my medical exam in London in June 2014.

I received my K-1 visa, came to the USA and got married in USA in October 2014 and filed my AOS, for a green card, in early November 2014.

In Feb or March this year I received a letter saying my case was a possible visa waiver and that my case would be delayed approx 6 months due to 'backlog of cases'.

Today I got a letter and was hoping it was the green card.

However the letter says "Notice of Intent to Deny" based on the fact that my I-693 has expired as it's now 14 months since I had my medical exam, and I have to provide a new I-693 within 30 days.

To add stress to this situation, the letter was dated July 29. (We moved from Indiana to Colorado and the mail is being re-directed).

I'm really worried and upset about this. It seems that, due to the USCIS delaying my case, I now have to have another medical exam, and probably pay hundreds of dollars for it (after all the other costs we've had already)?

Is that the only option? If I can schedule a med exam for this week, it is probably I will meet the deadline? Does anyone have any other advice about what I should do?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

  2. I have found my NOA2 !!!

Just to check I have the right document, it says at the top:

    "I-797, Notice of Action"

And it states: "The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC).... The USCIS has completed all action; further inquiries should be directed to the NVC."

(This document was sent to my then-fiancé, about 6 weeks after the original I-129F petition was approved).

So this is the NOA2 right?

    Thanks.

  3. Hello

I entered the USA on July 30 on the K-1, got married October 10th, and will be sending off my I-485 package within the next few days.

My husband and I cannot find the NOA2 letter, i.e. the letter from USCIS that is the second Notice of Action (NOA) acknowledging K-1 petition has been approved.

So I guess we have to file an I-824 to receive a duplicate copy. Has anyone here had to do that, and how long after filing the I-824 did they have to wait to receive the duplicate NOA2 K-1 petition-approved letter?

I think that my husband also got an email sent to him to confirm approval of K-1 petition... can a print out of the email be sent instead of the original NOA2 letter or do we definitely have to get the NOA2 duplicate?

    Thank you.

  4. I entered the USA on a K-1 Fiancee Visa in July 2014. Got married October 10th. Am now filling out the forms for Adjustment of Status. My I-194 has expired because it's more than three months since I entered the USA. On the I-485 ad I-765 form, there are questions asking for my Current Status. As I'm now married, and the I-94 has expired, I'm not technically a K-1 status anymore... so what do I put as my current status?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

  5. I arrived in the US on a K-1 visa on July 30th. My husband and I got married last week on October 10th. My 1-94 expiration date is October 27th.

Soon I will be sending off the relevant completed forms in order to apply for Adjustment of Status. But this Friday my husband and I plan to go to the nearest Social Security office to (a) legally change my name and (b) get me a social security card. We wanted to wait till we were married so that I could put my new name on the card.

Info on this forum states: "As a K-1 Visa Holder you are eligible to receive a SSN upon producing a valid I-94 (unexpired). Do not wait until you only have a few weeks left until your I-94 expires to file for a SSN."

Well I am now married so not technically on the K-1... and my I-94 would have expired within a couple of weeks anyway... so as I am between statuses... what do I show at the Social Security Office instead of an I-94?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

  6. I just received an email saying that my interview is cancelled! Have you heard of this happening before and do you know how big of a delay this is likely to cause me? :(

  7. Thank you landr.

    I have (among other documents)

    1. a printout of my DS-160 confirmation page
    2. my appointment letter

    I do not have

    1. a printout to confirm payment of the MRV (machine-readable visa) because I had problems with the website. I phoned the visa call centre twice to get help. They said just to go to the interview. And Nich-Nick on the forums said I can pay at the embassy on the day. Strangely though, the website DID let me pay the courier fee, so I have a receipt for that.

My interview is also after my priority date and I have a notarised letter of intent from my fiance dated June 2nd 2014.

  8. My interview is tomorrow. I have every document I need as listed here http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html and as advised to me by various people including Nich-Nick in the forums. But I just printed out my DS160 confirmation page and noticed it said I should bring my I-129F confirmation at all stages in the process. The letter itself is in America with my fiance as that is where we were when we filed the petition and it was confirmed and approved. Will it matter that I don't have this confirmation letter with me tomorrow at interview? (I DO have the confirmation of approved petition letter from the US Embassy in London). Thank you!

  9. Hello

I have my interview at the US Embassy on Tuesday 1st July. The letter says my interview is at 08:30am and that I should arrive about half an hour before then.

Someone in the forums has told me that it doesn't really matter exactly what time I get there, that I won't be 'late' if I arrive later than 08:30 and that whether I get there 08:30 or 09:30 or whenever I will just have to line up and wait. The person who told me this (thank you Nich-Nick) had their interview quite a while ago though so I would appreciate any info anyone (who had their interview recently) can give me.

If I definitely need to be there for 08:30 I will stay in a hotel overnight the night before to ensure I am not late, but if it doesn't matter if I am a bit later than 08:30 then I will just drive up on the day (though still aim for 08:30).

I would appreciate any info that you can give me about this, especially if you had your interview recently.

    Thank you.

    Clare.

  10. Thank you Nich-Nick. I am just confused about one thing, which is the visa fee you mentioned.

Kyle and my costs so far have been:

I do not have Proof of visa fee payment that they emailed after paying online. How do I do this? I don't recall being asked to do/pay this at any stage so far, so I was assuming that I paid for the visa after the interview, but evidently I was wrong. Please can you advise? Thank you.

  11. Thank you Lilsadie.

When we first filed the petition for the visa, my fiance Kyle and I provided:

    signed letters stating when and how we met and that we intend to marry each other;

    photos;

    copies of travel documents;

    a copy of the receipt for my engagement ring;

a handwritten letter from his mother stating how long Kyle and I have known each other and that she has met me.

Do I have to provide more of the same sort of evidence, again, at the interview?

    Thank you.

  12. Hello

I am the petitioner (UK citizen) and my fiance is the US citizen and sponsor.

My interview at the US Embassy in London is on July 1st.

I will be taking to the interview:

    - Medical certificate from medical examination.

    - Passport

    - Police certificate

    - Birth certificate

    - I-134 Affidavit of Support filled out by my fiance

    - Fiance's "Total Rewards" Statement and Benefits Statement (i.e. what he earned in last tax year)

    - A recent (within 6 weeks) bank statement of my fiance's

    - A letter written by my fiance and signed by a notary stating that he still intends to marry me. (I was advised this was needed as it has past our 'priority date').

Please can you tell me if there is anything else that is either mandatory, or not mandatory but could be helpful, to bring to the interview?

    Thank you very much.

    Clare.

  13. No I was using Non-Immigrant because the K1 visa is called the "Nonimmigrant Visa for a Fiancé(e) (K-1)".

Now I have searched using Immigrant and got Status: READY :)

    Thank you!

So I am just waiting to hear when my interview date will be.

What is the average time between submitting the Readiness for interview Form, and the interview date? Different people have told me different things. Thank you again.

  14. I am in the process for a K-1 visa for the USA.

I am British and submitted by 'readiness for interview' online form to the US Embassy in London on April 18th.

I had my medical exam on May 2 and have been informed by the doctors' practice that the Embassy has received my medical info and that everything is fine with that.

I tried to check my status at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and got the result 'No Status'.

I have sent a query to the Embassy on their online Contact Us section.

Has anyone had this NO STATUS result when checking their status? Help, advice and reassurance would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

    Clare

  15. Apologies to anyone who has had to repeat information or tell me things I should have known, I am just a bit confused and stressed by all this today.

As requested here is my timeline info that I know, I have missed a few things out and provided rough dates (i.e. the month rather than to the day) because I don't have the info to hand but I wanted to provide this information to you as quickly as possible:

    (fiance) Filed I129F- October 2013

(fiance) Received NOA1 from USCIS (mailed notice that petition was received)- November 2013

(fiance) Received NOA2 from USCIS (mailed notice that petition was approved)- December 2013

(fiance) Received letter from NVC with new case number and saying file sent to London- date? Jan or Feb 2014

(you) Received letter from London with a web page link to find your forms and instructions. - 14 January

And the letter also had a date at the bottom which is your deadline for completing your visa.- It said 4 months from 13 Dec 2013, so 13 April 2014.

TODAY I received a letter stating "We refer to our communication concerning the receipt of an approved petition according you status as a fiance(e) of a United States citizen. As of this date we have had no reply from you. Please inform us within sixty days whether you intend to process with an application for a non-immigrant visa to marry and reside in the United States. We would appreciate a response even if you wish to abandon the applciation. Sincerely, Chief, Immigrant Visa Branch."

Looking at some info online I see that, because 13 April 2014 has passed, I need, in addition to the other things I'm doing, to get my fiance to send a notarized letter stating that he still intends to marry me, which I should bring to my interview.

So I think what I need to do is:

    (a) complete DS160

    (b) submit “Notification of Applicant Readiness” form

© attend medical exam (i've booked it for 2 May)

    (d) take notarized letter of intent to marry (that my fiance will write and send to me) to my interview.

I will also write a letter myself to the Immigrant Visa Branch in London, stating that I still intend to marry a US citizen.

As long as I do all of the above I think everything is okay?

Again, sincere apologies to anyone who feels I am being stupid or asking obvious questions. Just stressed and overwhelmed by this right now and concerned I have done something wrong. Thank you everyone who gives or has given advice.

  16. Thank you Minnescota. I have a few questions which hopefully will be easy for you to answer.

Before I ask the questions, I will outline my visa journey so far for you:

Oct 2013 - my fiance and I filed the petition (form I-129f) to Homeland Security in USA.

Dec 2013 - received confirmation from Homeland Security in USA of petition have been received.

Jan 2014 - received NOA2 and checklist from US Embassy in London.

Since Jan 2014 - I have applied for and obtained my Police Certificate. My fiance has completed the Affadavit of Support and mailed it to me.

    Questions:

    (1) When I received the NOA2 and checklist in January I thought these were all things I had to do in preparation for the interview but did not think that I had to do them 'in order to get' the interview. I read the letter and checklist carefully but could not see anything that said these things had to be done in order to move the process on.

If you would not mind clarifying.... I think this is what I need to do:

    Phone and book my medical exam;

    Complete out the DS-160;

Complete the “Notification of Applicant Readiness” form. (http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.htmland)

.... and then have I done all I need to do to get my interview and it's just a case of the Embassy notifying me of when it will be

    (2) Do you know how long the wait usually is between submitting the “Notification of Applicant Readiness” form and the Interview Date itself?

    (3) What is the time period that the application is valid, starting from the time of receiving the NOA2. i.e. I received my NOA2 in mid-January, long long did I have from that date to do all the things I needed to do and submit the Notification of Applicant Readiness? I'm worried I've delayed my application process.

Many many thanks. I'm so grateful for your help.

  17. Hello,

I would be hugely grateful to anyone who can help.

Last October my fiance and I filed our petition for a K-1 visa for myself. In January I received confirmation that my visa application had been received and a checklist of things to do and forms to compile before interview. I compiled the forms and have done everything except the medical interview. I thought all I had to do now was wait for the interview date. But today I received a letter saying the US Embassy (in London) is awaiting my 'approved petition according you status as a fiancee of a US citizen.' ???

I do not know what I should have sent them? I thought they already have confirmation that I'm the fiancee of a US citizen from all the documents we filed in the USA?

I'm worried I am delaying the process. Would be extremely grateful for your help, advice, insight. Thank you!
