  1. Sign up for a customer account here:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp

and add your receipt numbers, which you'll find in the email/text notification if you included a form G1145 (e-notification of petition/application acceptance) with your AOS package. Otherwise, you'll need to wait for your paper receipts (NOA1) in the mail. I got my email/text notifications about a week after I'd sent off my package. Still waiting for my paper receipts, which I expect to receive within the next week or so.

Using the above account you can also set up email and mobile alerts so that you are notified when your case status updates - you'll need to add your mobile number to your profile in order to receive mobile alerts.

Type your zip code into the box on this page to find your local office, where you'll get your biometrics done:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC

Click through to the office's individual web page and you'll find location and office hours for that office.

    Thank you!

  2. You'll get your NOA(s) first maybe in a week or so, then in a few weeks you'll receive a letter with a location and date for your fingerprints and photograph to be taken for your AOS/EAD/AP and this is your biometrics, the photo taken on this day will be used for your Greencard and EAD/AP. After this you should get your EAD approval within 90 days of first sending your application.

Thanks! So what hours are usually the local biometrics open? Also what site can we check once we get NOA1 to see updates?

  3. A brief update on our case. She had the interview July 15, and although she was one of the last to get interviewed before lunch her interview was soo easy and relaxed and visa approved! Perfect timing getting the interview that day too since July 16 the embassy was closed. Her status went immediately to AP, and on July 18 went to ISSUED. Timing again coz shortly after her visa was issued was when the computer glitch happened delaying visa processing! The following Tuesday afternoon, right when we're about to check her status, she gets a text from 2Go that her visa is ready for pickup! So we spend about 4 hours going to MOA just to get her visa (so traffic in Manila). Next day, we go back to CFO to get her sticker. We thought this was gonna be quick, but no...we waited over an hour there at CFO (both of us in separate waiting areas). Eventually she got it. When we arrived back to her place we booked our flight back to the US. Our flight left July 25, and her POE was at LA the same day. POE was very easy, we both went through the US citizen line. Gave the officer her packet and passport, he asked her some questions, flipped through her packet, stamped the packet and her passport and said congratulations on your upcoming wedding. And that was it! We had an overnight flight back to Iowa, arrived back to our place about 9am July 26. So tired we were! We just both collapsed and slept till late afternoon!

Well, fiancée has been here over a week now! She is adjusting slowly, and we are so happy together. Introduced her to Netflix, she loves it! Although she only watches maybe one movie a day. She loves the faster internet here as well. She spends a lot of time doing things around the house, and I found out she is a very good cook. Every meal has rice lol. A few days ago she got brave and started to take walks around the neighborhood. Last night, she baked cookies for the first time. They were so good! She wants to learn how to bake and start baking kind of as a hobby since she won't be able to work for a while. Also trying to get her interested in other things as well, so she's not completely bored at home.

Where are you guys now? Just thought if there is any new updates!

  4. I'm a Canadian girl who married her American boy but this is where it gets tricky. My divorce was finalized while I was out of the country but what I didn't realize is that in Ontario it doesn't take effect until 31 days after decree. I married before that time was up thinking that I was ok (no need to show certificate of divorce in Florida). My husband has filed our I-485. I'm just now finding out about that wait period! What can I do?

is there any way he can ask to get that i485 back? or call uscis and ask if they can not look through it until the 31 days is up?

or maybe have to re marry?

I hope someone else can help me on this. Good luck!

  5. hello to all- never thought i would be writing this sorta post to a bunch of strangers, but i figured who else better to understand what i am going through than my fellow vj'rs?

so first and foremost i want to start off by saying that my fiance entered the US this past Saturday. Yay right? wrong. I was so excited in the beginning and then once i realized that it's time for him to come i basically started having second thoughts. i must point out that i do love him. I met him last year when i was visiting my home country - India. it wasn't an arranged marriage or anything like that - we met through an online dating service.. i saw him for a few days in a row and our relationship quickly heated up and became a long distance relationship. i told my parents about him and they went to go visit him and his parents etc... so everything worked out.

now he is here - and i hate it. i have been living on my own for two years now and once he moved in i felt like someone is here violating my space and my privacy. i immediately started panicking because his man who i have known for a year is now here and my time is being divided between him and my family (parents and brother - all three that i am VERY CLOSE to). i don't like that. he is a very understanding person and is giving me my time to adjust; however, i am scared. i know he loves me deeply and i love him too - just not as much as he loves me. i know it's fear talking, but i need someone to give me some sort of advice. i hate that i can't be open around him. i hate that when i go to my own apartment now he is sitting there waiting on me. thank god for my brother who spends time with him while i am at work every day. honestly, i don't know what to do anymore. i know many of you will tell me that this isn't the guy for me, etc... but i don't feel that way at all. i just feel like i rushed into things too quickly and should have given it more time... there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with him... its me. any suggestions guys? any feedback would be appreciated. has anyone else gone through this? cold feet? please respond as i am slowly losing my sanity. thank you

    ~ confused and depressed

You two should talk to each other. If you love each other you will show it.
