So I went to call EI and got surprised by a live person answering the phone! I guess they are answering the phones now, and the only time you leave your number on a message is if everyone is already on a call.

yeah I know Im use to the long message then leaving now it asks if u want english or french as long as its faster thats what Im all for

i phoned revenue canada and said I can file electrically, he said do you have a Canadian Address, Said yeah I use my dads house and he said thats no problem

and whats the point to call the intertional number? is it just for questions?

How do you find a registered importer? I live in Saskatchewan and am still unsure if its better to sell or try to import (have a hyundai accent and they do not provide american compliance letters).

I think if an accent I'd sell, and buy in USA as importing and registering will cost a couple thounsand you'd have to search for Saskatchewan for borderingtstates I called number of places before I found this one in Washington/bc

last day of work I guess I apply in a week or two for EI and wait til EAD

yeah doesnt cover Cali Fee just the Customs, maybe ill update it in a month or two once I get Cali fees for Car [not including my driver test etc]

Just to give you some info from what I was told and what sandy the RI found out as there company exports to USA tons of cars a year.

If you are doing RI (because toy can't get compliance) then car needs to be imported separately from K1 because of how US customs system is set up and how importing a car is setup you don't want to lose your one time entry. The guards told me (which was from what sandy found out talking to others wrong) so because you need to go into personal border crossing and your car sits on Canadian land as your car has to go through commercial through where the trucks cross you would lose K1 status

But because they drive across get stamp and come back takes an hour, it makes your drive to us the day you cross with K1 simple so that's the bonus

My car was declared value of 19000usd my total bill including RI fee, duty, broker fee and some others were 1600usd, which I think is fair (uhaul and or shipping my homwe items would of cost 1500-2000)

So that's shat I found out and what needs to be done

For conformatiy I needed to install a tire pressure monitoring system

from my searches if you dont have a SSN its hard to get US credit so if the bank is willing to over look that and accept canadian credit then good but US Credit is based on SSN

Just to throw my two cents in, I am going to cross Truck crossing just because RI is importing my car through there today and i drive across Sunday.

But the US Border guard did give me some helpful tips, Cross after 8am! he says its the shift change and you dont want the midnight crew who are bored and find it suspicious [crossing for example 3am] or grouchy at end of shift

So I will be going across this Sunday, at 801 LOL and doing K1 [as my car importing will be done 3 days before hand yaya]

Loomis Update, they emailed me Friday at Midnight with waybill number that was ready and website was updated when I checked this morning

so it took them three days since it will be ready Monday I assume

I didn't see where they said there were no stickers. Looks like I could have made myself clearer, though. The OP cannot go back outside to drive to a different lane after having the visa endorsed. It is done in tandem with the endorsement. The officers will have a hairy fit if they go in the truck lane. That lane is for commercial vehicles.

yeah this is why im going through regular line to do K1 then pull out my Registered Importer paperwork to import on the Box 3 line which hopfully he knows how to do and not freak out laf

I just mentioned I wanted to import my car when inside at secondary. The officer on duty filled out the paperwork, I signed it, that was it...add long as you have a letter of compliance you're good and don't need an importer.

no compliance letter but working with Importer so this is my real question either way if I have to go inside on one side to do K-1 paperwork and drive around to go into the truck side no biggies just delays be a couple of hours just trying to figure out how they do it inside

I feel your pain! I am hoping to sell my condo before I do my move, and had intended to pay off the balance of my car loan with the sale proceeds. If I can't sell it in the meantime, I might have to settle with renting it out. I really really did not want to have to resort to that. If my condo doesn't sell, I'll also be looking at selling my car to pay off the balance of the loan (I have had it for 3 years now with a 5 year loan, so hopefully I can sell it for an amount that at least covers the balance of the loan). Already tried asking TD if I could take my car with me, and was told absolutely not.

I never thought of checking with my cell phone carrier to see what it would cost to break my contract, hopefully it isn't $500.00 though!

with new law in effect its 2years max contrat it may cost $200, but if you have a new cellphone iphone get them to unlock also then you can either use it in USA or Sell it for good money on craigslist

Well we both found it easy to do, its just reading everything and going through it to make sure you didnt miss anything, and if you did miss something well they just send a REF which my fiance had to do forgot original divorce sent a photocopy instead

but again I think its fairly easy to do and straight forward, and you save what 6000$ and all the lawyer does it fills out the same pages they dont get it fast tracked for you so you dont benefit other then if they screw up you may get a refund lol

I just thought to share with you I got my case COMPLETED last week Thursday June 5th (my husband called NVC yesterday). It took 5 weeks for me (EP) . Now I have to wait for interview!!
