  1. Ngant17,

The people at USINT are very helpful. I found I got a good response from them when I sent a faxed letter with questions. However you may be in touch with someone already by email or phone. I always addressed my letters to the General Consul, Carl Cockburn. I'd like to think that helped to get a quick response.

As you know Cuba is a very strange place. You've just gotta be ready for anything!!

  2. Mike,

How wonderful!! Salva and I are very happy for you and your fiancee. May you 2 have many years of happiness together!!

Salva met with Cuban officials this past Thursday. Hopefully he will be in Philadelphia the 1st or 2nd week in September. He'll fly through JFK Airport hoping to get the work authorization stamp. We will marry in New York City and honeymoon there as well. We hope we can meet you 2 on our 1st trip to Miami together!!

    Love,

  3. Guys!!!

Oh my God!! We're so excited!! I just spoke with Salvador and he said the interview was quite simple and short. The interviewer began speaking to him in Spanish, asking questions about our relationship, when we met, how many times we've met in person and where we met. The interviewer would ask a few questions in English then a few in Spanish, back and forth. Of course Salvador had no problems with this.

Well, now Salvador must meet with the Cuban government to get permission to exit the country. He will do this on Thursday and typically, it takes about 4 weeks to obtain the Permiso de Salir.

We just want to take this time to thank all of you on the VJ site for your comments, experiences and well wishes. This site was a blessing to us back in 2002 when we were just reading and researching everything to educate ourselves on this process. I can't beleive how incredibly patient I've been during this whole thing. Thank you all so very much, words really can't express how much I apprciate all of you.

And so to the next leg of our journey, exit from Cuba and POE!!!

  4. Jehovah God,

You have been with us all this time Lord. We know this because you bought us together over 4 years ago. We have spent these years loving and growing and crying oh Lord. Never living in the same country still, we've maintained a sound relationship all this time.

Jehovah we ask you to continue to be with us as our interview date approaches. August 8th is the day that it will all come together and be validated by you. We sincerely love each other, want to marry and have a family, we want to live in the same country Lord. We prayerfully ask that you be with Salvador at the time of his interview and grant him his visa and please grant the Salir de Permiso in a timely manner so that we can finally be together.

Jehovah even though we already have our NOA2, we sincerely ask that you grant our prayer because we are yours and you are ours. We humbly ask that you continue to grant approvals on this visa journey website for each and every petitioner, each and every beneficiary and their families because these proceeding don't only affect the 2 people involved. Please Jehovah, grant the NOA1's and NOA2's and visa interview approvals that we've all so prayerfully and patiently waited for. Please allow all of our beneficiary finacees and their families safe journey to the United States and please Jehovah, please allow for a speedy and favorable entry process at the airport. We ask these and other blessings in the name of your son Jesus. Thank you so much Jehovah God, Amen

  5. Prof,

Really, I wouldn't throw away ANYTHING!!! Make sure your Fiancee has a complete copy of the petition for the interview. Save everything because you never know if you might need it. You may loose something or, the authorities may loose something. I lost my disk with all my master copies. I'm so upset about it. But I'm a packer and I save almost everything so I was still able to put together a copy of our petition for my Fiance since the copy I sent him in the mail was never received.

  6. Vicki/bala,

We're just praying for you 2 that all will be resolved as quickly as possible!! My heart is breaking for you 2. Just as everyone has said, we've all had some type of set back or another. I'm so tired of this process I've really considered moving to Cuba to live with my fiance and get married there. My other thoughts were to move to Miami and work there. At least I'd be able to travel more easily to Havana but I know eventually that while I do travel legally now, at some point this process will turn me into a criminal and 1 day I'll find myself there without proper travel documents. So please pray for me and I'll continue to pray for you 2!!

  7. Well, I'm sorry but I'm also so proud of you. I'm sure this was one of the hardest decisions you've made in your life. I know it hurts now, but you will recover, you're strong and young and beautiful with the whole world at you feet. You are stronger than you think, right now!! It's better to end things now before you come here, have kids and marry someone who will just break your heart. Take time to heal and then move on with your life and good luck to you!!

  8. Wow Viki/Bala,

That is such a nightmare, We're so sorry to hear it. We think that perhaps his family really does know about you. Maybe that is why the embassy workers are treating him like this. Maybe they were asked to intervene on the family's behalf or, this was a request from the family, to try and break you guys up.

Hockeygal is right, we too think you need a lawyer at this point. We think you two should write out everything that happened at that "interview." Write in great detail. Is there a US government agency where you can file your complaint?? Godd luck to you both and please tell Bala to stay safe, stay steady!!
