hey how can you change the interview, can you change the date to sooner?

Yes, I changed my date for my interview three times online.

I was able to move the date.

Here is the link I used to do it:

    https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=&language=

I was able to set-up the bio and medical from this website and appointment date.

Hi, i made a mistake on the ds-260 form putting the incorrect visa number. Is that going to be problem for the interview? How can i explain them the error?

absolutely you are going to have a problem. If everything is still at the NVC-- you must request to speak to a teir 2 manager.

If your case has already been sent to santo domingo you will need to contact them via email and give all your information and explain that you need them to reopen the D-260 form, so you change the information on the form. You will run into problems when they start running their background checks.

wrong.  a child born in wedlock in most states is automatically assumed to be the fathers due to the laws of presumptive paternity in most states.  even in cases where it's physically impossible.

No. I know I'm not wrong because I know two cases in the last 24 months where the parent's of the child were married and the embassy still requested an DNA test on the child.

One couple I knew personally and like you I thought that too, but they in fact can ask for a test even with a birth certificate in hand.

  4. Getting someone pregnant isn't the answer to your immigration woos. The child will be a US Citizen by birth and you still might and may have to prove you're the father.

To my understanding this is what some people may call an "anchor baby".

You have the child shouldn't even be part of your wondering about your status. I can understand you will not want to be split-up from your family.

Understand that you are in a tougher boat than, if you had come here on a K1 or I-130.

Good Luck & H&H 9months to your wife.

  5. You have to contact a lawyer to draw-up the paperwork.

You will need a official long copy of the child's birth papers.

You need the mom and dad's ID

You need photo of the child 2x2 size

It will run you about $4,000.00RD

Then that paper is only good for 30 days.

    Good Luck!

  6. Any SDQ people that have gone through this recently feel free to offer tips.

My in-laws interview has been scheduled in Santo Domingo for January 4th. I am gonna have them do their medical soon. I am reading the P4 email and it says to bring a whole slew of paperwork and I want to know if its completely necessary.

    1. ORIGINAL copies of all civil documents? Really? We have already sent this to NVC...is this really necessary?

    2. It says bring ORIGINAL and PHOTOCOPIES of all financial and civil documents like I864 and marriage and birth certificates for EACH applicant. Honestly? Really? I need to fill out I864 along with tax returns again? This seems like overkill

Back in 2012 when my husband and I went to our interview at the same embassy, the consul had all of the original documents from NVC in their possession and I remember I had taken new originals for the interview and they didn't even ask for them...I don't want to do this again if i can avoid it as it is stressful to fill out all this paperwork again and it cost money to request more original copies.

ANY dominican republic applicants have any advice?

I will tell you that yes, you have to give them all originals to this point must things are copies or copies of originals. If you sent originals now you are betting that no human made an error and all the documents are present in the file. The truth is you are placing way too much faith in a system run by humans. The worse is yes you make extra steps to prep, but imagine, if you get there and things are in fact missing at no fault of your own. Bring the kitchen sink... I know it's a pain but remember this is your chance to get it down without having to get stuck in AP hell for weeks and weeks.

  7. Even I will keep it in mind not to send money receipts :sleepy:

    Thx

Even I will keep it in mind not to send money receipts

I wanted to chime in because as a fellow DR filing VJ-er in DR yes I sent everything including the kitchen sink. I understand that in other countries they see this as a problem, but I know for DR many people send money and its a bit of the norm there. It is important to understand that you must be genuine. DR is a country very high is visa fraud and over 50% of the visas are denied due to fraud. So the only way to prove that you are a bona fide relationship is to one be a real relationship and two have as much documentation as possible and having money receipts is a good thing for the country of DR. :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

  8. You can ask to speak to a Tier 2 manager and they will ask why and you just need to say to the rep it's pertaining to your case.

You may have to wait a bit on the phone. I have found that it's best to work with the same manger, if you can---so once you get a name you can ask for that manger by name. I found in my experience that the NVC's mangers were very nice, polite and helpful.

    Good Luck.

  9. Hi Let me help you out here... I just went through this and I would tell you to bring an extra copy of tax returns and I864 form.

The reason I am saying this is because you are banking your file was received complete---mine was not.

In DR things are done how do I say this... (Dominican Style):rofl::rofl:

For example most embassy the USC doesn't have to be present for the interview, but our sweet DR it is STRONGLY recommended.

There are other examples that are stark differences to other embassys from around the world.

My advice is when in doubt just bring it..

    GOOD LUCK!

  10. What everyone is forgetting to explain... Our sweet DR is a very high fraud country, so this is why they place the "Strongly Recommended". If your partner is unable to attend, please make sure to bring everything, including the kitchen sink and proof of why they weren't able to travel to be there. ( A Letter From The Employer-- Staying The Person Is Unable To Get Time Off)

It's true I have heard of this going both ways... interviews have been postponed because the other party wasn't there and I've seen people have approvals even with their partner not in attendance.

It's easier for all parties involved, if you both are there, as others have stated above.

Just know your stuff inside out and be honest and don't lie....

  11. You have been given bad information. Yes, you must translate all documents.

I have found that it is more cost effective to translate everything in DR. For example I paid $40.00US to translate a doc here in the US, but paid only $700 Pesos to translate another document in DR.

The math adds up to a win by translating in DR. Don't let anyone tell you different.

    Good Luck!

  12. You need to make sure that you can prove that what you are stating is fact can be backed-up. So, if you say that you have made "8" trips. Then you send copies of the "8" stamps in your passport. If you say that you spend time together. Then you should send in pics of you spending time together. Not only spending time together with each other, but with family and friend, as well. You should submit everything that shows that you have a life together. I understand the concern of others trying to mess things up. Be mindful of whom you share your information with on a "need to know" bases and you will be in better shape than screaming it on the top of all the roof tops.

  13. I just read that you got approved too :dancing: :joy: . Congratulations Mamabrown3 on your NOA2!!!! I am so happy for you guys.

Thank you for your compliment but we give each other hope here. I am glad we got this forum to keep us going and guide us as well, just like one big family.

    Hi The Burts

Has your file made it to the NVC?

I ask because I got confirmation my file made it and I didn't see your timeline updated.
