    You should tell the NVC that it is your intention to file for AoS once your priority date is current, certainly. You just can't actually file until it happens, though.

    Given that I-693 medicals are now only valid for one year in a best-case scenario, there is no real advantage to getting it done early; this is doubly true with you being from Iran, as you may encounter stateside administrative processing that could add months to the timeline of your I-485, once you file it.

    Not sure what do u mean by stateside administrative processing. The time when I applied for US visa, I got it in two weeks abd I have been living in the US for almost three years as a graduate student and research assistant in university. I think being Iranian has nothing to do with this.

    my current status is F-1 student visa and I filled the forms out by myself.

    I know I cant file i-485 until my pd is current but I want to do medical exam at least before preparing for adjustment of status. making an appointment for medical exam could take months and i think it is better to do it soon. my pd should get current in few months.

    By the way, NVC asked me to send them the corresponding forms and fees, however in their website it is mentioned to whom they want to do adjustment of status, it is necessary to let NVC know about their case.

    Hey Guys

    I got an email from NVC yesterday which was welcoming letter to start processing my application. they said I need to fill out the applications and pay the fees to get the interview. However, since I live in USA, I need to do adjustment of status by USCIS as they mentioned in NVC website.

    So my question is should I call NVC or USCIS to let them know I am doing adjustment of status? Since my PD is on March 27, 2014 can I fill out the I-485 form now or should I wait? Since my pd would be current in few months I dont want to miss the time and I want to do all the things like fingerprint and medical exam before my Pd gets current.

    "When your petition becomes current, or is likely to become current within one year, the NVC initiates immigrant visa pre-processing, including collecting visa fees, forms, and documents from sponsors (petitioners) and immigrant visa applicant(s)."

    I've been thinking about this. We are likely to become current in less than a year. For someone like me that has already been approved and waiting to hear from the NVC, does this mean NVC will start pre-visa processing and collection of fee and documents while waiting for my PD(March 11th) to be current

    Dear All

    I am student in US and I got married few month ago! My wife has green card and recently my I-130 got approved and USCIS sent my documents to NVC as they mentioned in an email.

    When I check NVC website it says that if you have plan to adjustment of status in the future (Which is exactly my case, I don't need Visa) NVC will not process your file and USCIS will proceed that and you need to contact NVC about that!

    Now I am wondering what should I do!!? does anyone has the same experience which wanted to adjust his/her status? Our case will be processed by USCIS?! What is the next step for me? Whom should I call!?

    Ali, I think I was so much ahead of myself. You are still at the first stage of the process and there is no A# available yet! Don't worry, you do not need to mail anything. You are gonna have to show those to them during interview.

    I hope the process will be shorter than what I am thinking! :)

    Anyway, I will wait for the interview and by that time I will be able to gather all the documents they need and even more! :P

    I have thousands of pictures of my wife and I together if they wanna check :D and tax returns that we filled them out together and home lease that shows we live together! Even credit cards and some of the debits cards we use have both of our names. I think these could be enough hopefully! :)
