rosejosh reacted to Ryan H in changing surname
Once the green card is issued, you can file an I-90 to have it reissued in your married name. However, the filing fee for this is $450.
Another option is to wait until the Removal of Conditions on Residency process and fill out that paperwork using your married name (you would need to produce a document showing a legal name change).

rosejosh reacted to salmuf in AOS question
Hi,
FIrst of all, congratulations on your marriage!
To answer your doubts,
a) Your name or surname will not change unless you file for an official name change
b) Your A number is written on the NOA2 that you had received during the K1 visa process, it would also be printed on the K1 visa in your passport
c) You check status as permanent resident because that is what you are applying for. Naturalisation means citizenship
d) I'm not sure what you meant but maybe she meant sending in your AOS application to USCIS as soon as you get married. That's what they told me during mine
e) You can write a tentative date when you have a possibility of travelling. Doesn't have to be exact dates

rosejosh got a reaction from Emily and Nathan in effective way to get fast approval
Yeah.. Thank you. I wish all the best for us.. Actually my boyfriend filed his application last march 18 and the embassy messaged him that he'll receive his NOA1 7-10 days.. I'm just anxious about our status. Or his status as student.. Thank you though good luck..
