  1. We are in the same boat as you are in and our case is even worse cuz we got our NOA2 on February 8th then touched on Feb 25th and nothing after that...it sounds insane but how is it possible that they have started working on cases dated feb 21st and further whereas we are still waiting for our approval?

  2. I am a US citizen and my husband is a Canadian citizen and I am currently here in Canada for a long visit. We got our NOA1 for I-129F on Feb 8th but still no sign of NOA2. We just got touched once on Feb 25th and that's it. I am stressing out a bit cuz the three month period is over today and we should have gotten some sort of response by now. Do you think we should contact USCIS now or wait for the dates on their website to get updated? Also, what makes it more stressful is the fact that I am leaving on the 21st of this month to find a job for the affidavit of support (I do have my dad as the co-sponsor as well) but the thing is that we decided that I'll leave once the I-129F was approved as normally they ask for affidavit of support after two to three months of approval (rite?) Now since we don't know how long it's going to take I don't want to leave my husband alone for so long because once I get a job I'll only be able to see him for a few days once in a while :( Also one more question? what are packets 2 and 3? and normally how long does it take after the approval of I-129F to get an interview date? our I-130 is also being processed but we know it's going to take longer then the I-129F. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

  3. It's been almost two months since we received our NOA1's for both I-130 and I-129F but our case hasn't been touched since then. What I don't understand is that some people have in their timelines this mentioing of their cases being touched just a few days after receiving their NOA1's. Why is that not happening with us or are we not checking the status correctly? We do have an account with uscis.gov and can log into our account to check our status but it doesn't show anything new. What does touching actually means? Our processing centre is Vermont. Any response in this regard would be appreciated.

  4. Thanks everyone for your valuable advice.. I actually looked into this tax issue and I am going to go with filing the form 1040 to be on the safe side.

Joej, we didn't do DCF because I am not a Canadian resident and the basic requirment for DCF is that you should be living in Canada for at least a year as a permanent resident. I just visit my husband on a regular basis.

  5. I am a US citizen and we recently applied for my husband's 1-130 and 1-129F. Now we are waiting for the approval and assuming that after that we'll be asked for the affidavit of support and the tax returns. I am visiting my husband in Canada and didn't work in 2005 but I'll go back to the States soon and find a job. Also, my dad will be the co-sponsor as he meets the income requirments. Now my question is whether or not I file for the taxes this year? Also, there's a lil bit of confusion...even though I don't work a few months ago I started teaching this online course but the money I get from the course is not tax-deductible and also if I have earned let's say less than $500 in 2005, do I still need to file taxes? I am teaching this on a continuing education website but I am not their employee (they aren't going to send me the W2 forms) so if I do file the taxes, do I file as a self-employed person? Any advice in this regard would be appreicated.
