Checked my status today and it says "ready to schedule your interview." (on July 20) According to my friends' experiences, it doesn't mean that my interview will be scheduled anytime soon
What are your experiences guys? How long did it take them to send you an interview date?
-
So, I received my biometrics notice for my EAD, called USCIS hoping that they will say that my AOS biometrics is enough... But it didn't happen
So I will have to do biometrics twice.
-
Hey everybody! I've just discovered this thread
I would've never thought that I would get an RFE on my AOS (still waiting for the letter from USCIS) and would forget to sign my EAD form
I had my biometrics appointment this Wednesday, and had only one case number (AOS one) in the biometrics paper, because I guess at that time they sent me EAD rejection form and I had to send the correct one back. So I do hope I won't have to drive 5 hours to Jacksonville to have my biometrics for EAD
And I hope everybody will get their EADs soon and will have interviews soon.
-
I had the same thing only I haven't got physical copy of my RFE yet and I went to have my biometrics done this Wednesday. Everything went well though I was worried too.
-
I had 2 - AOS and EAD. (I didn't apply for AP.)
Oh, this is why you had only 1 appointment, I think. I have only 1 case number in my AOS biometrics appointment
-
You have only one biometrics appointment.
Thank you so much for your quick reply! I hope you don't mind my asking - did you have 2 case numbers in your biometrics appointment letter?
-
Hi everybody!
So I sent my AOS documents, work permit form, travel document form in April. They sent me NOA-1 for AOS and travel document, and rejected my work permit application because *stupid me who checked everything twice* I forgot my signature there. I sent a new signed form.
Some time after that I got my biometrics appointment, and I saw only my AOS case number. I know some people have 2 numbers (AOS and work permit usually, I guess) in their biometrics appointments, but I figured it's not my case because I mailed my correct work permit form later and they actually sent me a letter that they accepted it only last week.
So my question is - how many times am I supposed to have my biometrics appointments? Am I supposed to have one for each form I mailed - AOS itself (had it today) work permit and travel document? Or they can maybe unite the last two? The ride to the closest office was 5 hours there and 5 hours back for me, so I need to know how many big trips ad ahead of me
Please share your experience and any advice you have

take everything as long as it makes you more confident
I took lots of different stuff like screenshots (of course, a MUCH better thing than word files), photo album, skype calls records... Also there's an app on Fb that;s called "Message count" and it shows how many messages you exchange, you can use a screenshot of that.
I brought a ton of stuff with me and needed not a single piece of paper
but knowing that I have it all with me really made me more confident

I don't know if anyone else has made this mistake but I wanted to point it out so nobody else makes the same error. When sending emails to the NVC Do Not capitalize NVCinquiry@state.gov because you will not get an auto reply. For the past week I've been on the phone with reps at the NVC telling me they weren't going to receive the email if I wasn't receiving an auto reply and today I even spent $20 mailing them a physical copy of my passport to correct the Date of Birth error they made. After emailing from separate computer and email accounts to no avail, I decided to write the email in lower case nvcinquiry@state.gov and I received an immediate auto reply. The Visa Journey Wiki page has the entire email capitalized NVCINQUIRY@state.gov which I didn't try so maybe its either all capitals or lower case but I believe that the reason none of my emails went through to the NVC was because I wrote the email as NVCinquiry@state.gov which didn't produce an auto reply when written this way.
I just came across this topic, kind of late, but still
we have the same issue with date of birth! My fiance sent the copies of my passport, but they are silent yet.... Did they correct your date of birth eventually?

NVC:
a. I have been trying to call the NVC at 603-334-0700. Keep on getting a busy signal. Is there another number?
b. The person at USCIS says that when package was sent to NVC, NVC will provide no status from NVC. Do I get notices from NVC?
a) it happens sometimes, my fiance had the same issue, so he just called them another day and everything was alright.
There's no other number of NVC. There's a DOS (department of state), but calling there is no use because they will tell you you need to call NVC anyway.
b) well, the last update you get from USCIS website is when you're told your case has left to NVC. then probably a week after it you call NVC. you can get updates from them when your case was assigned an NVC case number, on this website: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx If you haven't been assigned it yet... Just keep calling.
On VisaJourney Wiki there's this email also: "NVCInquiry@state.gov - to email questions"
But they say it takes longer for them to reply to emails, so calling them is the best option.
Anyway, I hope I could help you.
good luck on your journey

hey everybody.
my question is to all who went through nvc stage - did they hold somebody's case for like... a month or a bit more? is it normal?
after almost a month since it was sent there, they still cannot do such simple thing as correct my DOB they initially messed up, so we still don't know our case number. I mean... is it really this difficult? I constantly think about this "approved petition is valid for 4 months after approval" thing and am getting more stressed after each time they say to my fiance that there are no updates. ugh.
sorry for my rant, I just can't keep calm about it.
-
i think its insane how you can be punished for their mistake. I hope its left the NVC for you.
Right you are... this all makes me depressed. I really hope they are just going to send it to the local embassy that this will be it
-
We had exactly the same problem at the NVC, except for that in our case it was the petitioner's birth date that they had entered incorrectly into their system. Since the DOB is one of the identification questions they ask, they would not give us any information whatsoever on our case.
We checked all of copies of our papers and our NOA1/NOA2, and his birth date was correct on all of those papers. So it was definitely the NVC messing up.
After many futile attempts, being yelled at, and being hung upon, they finally told my husband he needed to scan his passport, birth certificate and NOA2 and e-mail it to the NVC in order to correct entry. We tried to expedite it because of USCIS error, but they would not do so. When we finally received their answer, two weeks later, they merely told us that our case had already been shipped to the consulate and that they could not do anything for us.
My husband finally got hold of the consulate in Frankfurt, who acknowledged and (as far as I know) corrected the mistake.
I am not sure if that helps any, but you are not alone. Wishing you good luck and a speedy approval!!
thank you so much for your helpful answer
it feels really good to know we're not alone!

Hey everybody.
So our petition for fiancee visa was approved on July 25, sent to DOS on July 31.
My fiance called NVC a bit more than a week later after our petition was sent. Among other information, he was asked to give my date of birth, and when he did, he was told it's a wrong date and he won't be able to get any information because of it.
We didn't get an RFE, but still we double checked all of the forms - my date of birth is correct in all of them.
So now he's just calling NVC every 2 days, and last week he was told that the case was assigned to some person there (? or something like that, probaby somebody with a bit bigger authority) and nothing new today.
Of course, this fact makes us very stressed. On Aug 25 it will be a month since our petition was approved... And we cannot even know if we were assigned an NVC case number *
*
Has anybody come across something like this? What did you do? Is there anything else that we can do?
Thank you for your replies in advance.

You guys! Our packet is officially in transit according to CEAC!!! Did not expect things to move so fast. That is all. I'm really excited. I hope everyone else is doing ok
Yaaay! So happy for you!
things are going weird with us - I already posted about NVC messing with my birthdate, so they can't tell my fiance anything about our case because birthdate is "wrong". we didn;t receive RFE and checked our documents again but my birth date is correct in all of them... we were told they handed the problem to some senior specialist..
Anyway, I hope you'll pass all the remaining stages as quickly
-
I got my case's new number from NVC. So I can follow it on my location embassy's website. I hope will receive NOA3 soon.
how much time did it take for you to get NVC case number?
-
So my fiance called NVC - successfully today. he was asked my date of birth. so he told them this and the reply he got - you named wrong date of birth blah-blah, I can't give you information with wrong date of birth o_O My fiance is veeery angry now. Could it be that we put my date of birth incorrectly in documents or they made this mistake? We didn't get an RFE.
How can it be fixed?
He emailed the request to NVC to correct my date of birth...

Text notification last night! Petition approved, hard copy NOA2 on it's way.
I hope everyone still waiting hears soon. They're definitely pushing on these cases guys!
Congrats!!!

No, the people who answer the phone are also called representatives. I just tried again, I think hell froze over because I got through this time too
ohh sorry, I don't know all these terms well
well, this gives hope! I will ask my fiance to call them again tomorrow! thank you!
-
Did a representative tell you they were having technical difficulties? Because I just tried the phone number and miraculously got through on the first try.
What do you mean by representative? Like congressman representative that was helping us with NOA-2?
I don't know, maybe my fiance should just keep calling

I had my AOS interview on Sept.24 and got approved! Officer said my green card will arrive within 3-4 weeks.
He also made me and my husband sign a paper saying that we must submit forms for removal of conditions 90 days before my green card expires. Did anybody have to do it also?
