Where in NY are you?

There's this party store in Brooklyn that I rented costumes from ... we got Blue's Clues & Scooby Doo. They had the BEST Spongebob mascot costume. It was so much better & cheaper than hiring someone to work the party, plus I got to see my uncle make a fool of himself.

Im upstate NY about 4hrs from the city.

Im looking to spend under 200 so we will see, only 20-25 people max will come. His birthday is May 30th so itll be getting warm and maybe we will have it at a park or something and have a cook out and stuff. Im pretty excited to actually plan a party for him with my friends and family and his little buddies--my friends kids. Last year all I did was cry on his first birthday because we were in Saudi Arabia and it seemed like everything went wrong, even though my very bestest friend that I met over in Saudi(American woman named Emily) and her family came. Her son is 5mths older then Josh. Them coming to the party was the only highlight. We got his cake from Carvel, which sucked ... we had pizza and other snacks but I just didnt feel it was a birthday party. Sigh. Better luck this year.

ive never had a problem with him and have used him many times since 2006.

he's been having yogurt for weeks now and at the daycare i know he's had cheese, so I guess it's all good. His ped said give formula until he's at least 1 years old, so he's been taking 1 or 2 bottles a day.

So i'm debating about his birthday party decoration, what do you guys think? my mom likes baby disney. I'm thinking madagascar...

I am thinking of what theme to do for Josh's 2nd birthday. Since we are in NY and he really didnt get a great big first birthday because we were in Saudi I thought of doing Spongebob again here since I can find more decor. He loves SB but he also loves anything Nick Jr or Disney. Sigh Idk, have a few mths left I suppose.

Our little Tunisiano made his way into the world on February 1, 2010. We named him Sayed Elyas.

8 pounds and 12 ounces - 21 inches long and he's the light of our life. We both feel SO blessed. Hamdouallah.

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. My hands are super full right now - literally trying to type and hold a baby to the ####### and since it's been 7 years I've forgotten how little time you have for anything (including email, message boards, facebook, the bathroom, the shower hehe )

Totally understand that! When Josh was born it have been over 8 years since I had done it and WOW was I in for a suprise. Its so worth it though. Those little bundles ... wow...... Congrats!!!

Howdy everyone...

just wanted to update...our saudi visas still arent done, something is goin on in the mofa for saudi and they arent responding to visa requests for the past few mths...some new things are supposed to be implented soon.

George has to return to riyadh for work on thursday as his vacation is over, so Josh and I are getting on a plane at 3am friday morning and heading back to NY to wait this out until George can hopefully obtain a perm visa for us in saudi. heres to hoping

Thoughts and prayers once again asked for for safe travels yet again across the big ol' pond.

We are set to land at JFK at 1230pm ny time Friday.

It sure doesn't taste the same though...ick!

I missed peanut butter the most. All I wanted after our summer trip to Lebanon was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white sandwich bread...and some birthday cake (white cake with white buttercream icing)...

In Lebanon nope it doesnt..in Saudi its imported so its the same. Saudi also has jiff pb and smuckers jelly but here in Lebanon i was lucky to get kroger pb and lebanese jam. and the cake...omg the cake....i usually buy box cake and frosting so i can have something similar to home. i am really not a fan of the cakes from the bakeries here, everything has the almond paste and nuts blechhhhhh.

I was shocked to discover, after looking it up, that they only sell Dew in the US, Canada, and Australia. So many people are deprived.

There is Mt Dew in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia....

Thanks Charles Ive actually had the pleasure of getting to know her over the internet.....and our husbands are actually pretty close friends now and hang out once a week or so.

btw girl i think George is sad to hear he may be leaving Riyadh already

I wish you 2 the best in your visa process. I wish if you can live together and pass through this time. Keep me posted.

Also another thing that your dh may want to look into-----we have heard that they are changing the iqama procedures in Saudi to base them on income/salary rather then the iqama profession ..... we are waiting on this thing to go into effect so we can be in Saudi and not have to worry about having to fight to get family visit visas. He may want to check into that and see about filing from Riyadh once you establish your 6mths there.
