  1. Great, congrats!

Did they mention on the USCIS website that they mailed your card out? Did you have to call anybody?

Thanks! The status changed to approved on July 28, approval notice came in on August 1. It then changed to card was mailed out on August 5 and it arrived on Monday. Funny thing is, my AP status is still showing Case Approved on July 28.

I received an rfe for my AOS. I'm expecting a few weeks delay for that.

  2. Highly unlikely, December is only 4 months away and there is a 50/50 chance of either getting an interview or an interview waiver letter.

Interview is faster to a GC than the interview waiver. Also some received waiver letters and then still got interview appointments.

With waiver letters it takes about 12-14 months to receive your GC, with an interview it's sooner, 5-7 months or so.

I wouldn't plan any travel unless you feel safe enough to do so with your AP, it should be fine for most but personally I would wait.

I-485 is all over the map currently with very long wait times.

Most of the 4 months fast interviews you see are adjusting from other visas, usually not K1's, though possible for a few here and there.

Hmmm.. I see, thanks. We have arranged our wedding ceremony for our family back home so that's why we're leaving. I hope I won't receive a mail from them while I'm away.

Has your case status changed to "ready for an interview"? If so, then check the processing times of your local field office to give you an estimate on your interview time (for my local office they've just approved a I-485 from a year ago, so I think I'll be waiting a while!). Some people don't even get an interview, but apparently this can take a lot longer.

No it just changed from approved to card mailed out.
  3. Hi All, an RFE just arrived today stating that the attestation of birth letter which I submitted with my application was insufficient. This is the attestation letter I received from the National Population Commission, issued to anyone who's birth falls beyond the coverage of Act No. 69 of December, 1992 on Births, Deaths etc (Compulsory Registration) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the issuance of National Birth Certificate.

This basically means that at the time of my birth, there was no formal birth registration so I do not have the typical birth certificate from the hospital I was born in. So in order to register my birth with the NPC, my father swore an oath (Statutory Declaration of Age) at the Chief Magistrate's Court declaring my date of birth, mother's name, mother's maiden name, birth place, residential address etc.

I do not know what other document to include in my response to USCIS as the initial attestation of birth letter from NPC supersedes the statutory declaration of age my father swore at the high court. And it is the same and sole document the embassy recognize for individuals whose birth falls beyond 1992.

    I need suggestions please.

  4. DL will expire same day as your State ID.

Since you are in Texas you can drive on your home country DL, Just make sure you have insurance.

From what I have seen over the years and with all the illegals in Texas, You are good as long as your have insurance, Police don't care if you don't have a DL if you are not an American Citizen, they are concerned with the car being insured......

I'm not sure I will take the risk. I better wait until I can get the driver's license. Thanks anyway

  5. So for anyone who would like to know how the medicals went, this is it.

I went to The Children's Practice on Monday with my int'l passport, 6 passport photographs, photocopy of my passport biodata page and my interview appointment printout. The receptionist gave me a GTB teller to pay 14000 for blood test and chest x-ray. On my return, she wrote a receipt (please dont lose it) and then gave me a tally card to wait for my turn. I did the blood test and chest x-ray.

The nurse then directed me to another office in the main building for medical history/breast examination. Funny enough it was a male doctor, lol. On my request, he called in a female doctor who examined me. Haha

After that, he ticked the vaccines I would have to take and then sent me back to the room where they took my blood sample. The nurse there, directed me to the receptionist who gave me another teller to take to GTBank 9500 this time.

I made the payment and she gave me another receipt (don't lose this too)

I sat and waited for my turn to get the shots (OPV, MMR and Tetanus). It stung a lot ;) I have a natural dislike for needles so.

They asked me to return after 2 days for my test results.

PS: please dont forget to come with your receipts to get your results.

I arrived at few minutes past 9am and left the hospital some minutes before 1pm

  6. Hi there!

We finally got to this stage of the visajourney so I would like you guys to advice me on how the medical examination is done. First, which of the two hospitals is the best (cost friendly, fast, and then easily accessible). What vaccines did you take and how much did it cost you?

The same applies to the police report. Who do I meet when I get there? How is it done? And how much did it cost in total?

Thank you as you help me.

  7. This thread are for the July 2014 TSC filers who have received their NOA2. And would love to share their next phase of NVC experience. Please include your NOA1 and NOA2 dates accordingly. Thank you.

It will help other July 2014 TSC filers have an idea on where TSC is.

The wait time must have been difficult; however, we are still hanging in there stronger (with encouraging words from our love ones and VJ members). Don't give up!!!

    Best of luck to everyone.

My signature will speak for me. Indeed the journey was difficult but then I give God all the praise. Everything feels better after you receive the NOA2. And the rest of the journey becomes very easy and quick.
