  1. Considering I-130's are for alien relatives and they're having to wait 18 months to be with their husbands or wives, I would like to disagree with your statement that they are no more important that I-129f's. I believe a husband and wife say their vows with the right to not be separated. For those who choose either path, they are aware of what is best for them and their situation, but a marriage should not be separated for 2-3 times as long as an engaged couple.

    hello sweetswinks,

I'd like to state in response to you comment to JessicaUK about 1-130's been more important. If i am not wrong, that is your position because you disagree with JessicaUK on her statement that they are "no more important than 129f".

I have not seen or heard of any political law (i'm referring to the constitution) that states that "a marriage should not be separated for 2-3 times as long as an engaged couple."

It may sound plausible but unfortunately, it is not true!

However, the 14th amendment of the U.S. constitution allows citizens equal rights and protection of the law. That means we should get the same treatment under the law.

My mum waited 7 yrs before she could join my dad who is a U.S. citizen.

So unless, there is a special circumstance, no immigration procedure is more important than the other.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here! And I apologise some have taken my words the wrong way. It's just about looking at the bigger picture. We should just consider ALL applications and equality across the board.

  2. This is a really good idea!! I'm all for it, and I also have a suggestion to add. The data, clearly shows the discrepancy between TSC and CSC but I also think it might be a good idea to work with some of the data just for TSC or USCIS overall.

It's clear that TSC is focusing more towards I-130 applications. I did some rough statistics, they're completing them at a rate of around 30% per month. I also looked at I-485 applications, which sounds more complicated and even there they're completing them at at rate of around 16% p/mnth.

So why are I-129F applications at TSC only being completed at a rate of around 6% p/mnth?? or even less as the months go on!

I-130 applications or I-485 applications are no more important than ours, we should all be equal in this process. Shouldn't TSC be processing every application at the same rate no matter how many applications there are? This backward and forward process of focusing on I-130s, then I-129Fs is just a vicious circle.

  3. I contacted my local representative. They sent an inquiry on July 1. I followed up on the 15th - the guy said that they hadn't gotten back to him, which was odd since they are usually right on the ball with things.

    Meh.

Also Feb 4? That's a week and a half after my NOA1. Hopefully that means us end of January-ers will hear soon?

In any event, happy Friday everyone! Next week is a new week, hopefully full of NOA2's or at least something for the rest of us! Next Thursday is my 6 month mark. It actually makes me really bummed that I decided to pursue a PhD in upstate NY instead of remaining in Nebraska (CSC territory) to do so. Totally would have had my honey here by now if I didn't move to the northeast.

We all WILL eventually hear someday, and soon I'm sure. And we all WILL get approved, provided we don't have any humongous red flags on our cases (and if you do, I hope you can resolve them).

I really hope you hear something soon! It's only a matter of time as more and more are being approved. Maybe you could try another local representative? Some are more responsive than others.

We put an enquiry in with a different senator at first but didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks, so we tried another and he called USCIS almost every day until our case was with an officer. I am forever grateful for that and wish he could handle the entire east coast's cases!

  4. Great news for February filers, my fiancé and I just received notice from our Senator (Connecticut) that our case is now with an officer and being processed. We should expect to hear something within 1-2 weeks.

    Our NOA1 is Feb 4th.

I can't even thank our Senator enough who consistently called USCIS all week to get it to this stage, so I would highly recommend anyone to do the same!! Just write a letter, call up, push for some progress!

  5. Soooo, spoke with my Senator's office today. She said it's with an officer and to wait 30 calendar days. If I don't hear anything, let her know. As of 9:44pm EST....WE GOT THE NOA2!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!! It took 6 months but we made it! THANK YOU SENATOR MURPHY OF CONNECTICUT!!!!!

    #GoTeamSenators

    #ByeTSC!

    #ISeeTheLight!

BIGGEST CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!! I'm so excited to see so many approvals! Hopefully you'll be together in time for the New England fall :-)

    Best of luck!!!!!!!

  6. Hey JESSIKAUK, did you put in a service request due to case outside of processing time???

Hey! No, we haven't put in any service requests, and considering their processing time is now 5.5 months they'll probably turn us away (we're just over 5 months). It seems that there's a higher chance of you getting information through your senator than going directly to USCIS.

Provided you're over the 5.5 months I would try doing everything, put in an e-request, call USCIS for information, and get in contact with your senator.

Hope you receive some news soon! :-)

  7. How long did it take you to hear back from the senator? I just emailed my congresswoman yesterday. I figure if I don't hear anything, I'll contact my senator.

Hey! My fiancé wrote to two senators, the first (Blumenthal) took a week to hear a response, but that might have been because we emailed him the July 4th week. The second (Murphy) we emailed him two days ago and heard back within 24hrs.

They'll need you to sign a privacy release form in order to work on your case, so it's handy to have a scanner, or fax machine and also keep a copy of your NOA1 (Senator Murphy requested that from us).

Hope this helps! :-) Good luck!!

  8. Thanks!!! I contacted both Senator Blumenthal and Senator Murphy. Senator Blumenthal assigned my case to a woman who was sooo rude! When I told her about CSC and how they are processing faster and the discrepancies between TSC and CSC, she told me "Well CSC doesn't concern you...." and when I told her how I filed January 9th and its past the 5 months....I got the "well, I GUESS I can contact them, but you're still within the processing time". THAT'S when I contacted Senator Murphy's office. Senator Murphy's office assigned me to an AMAZING person who called and e-mailed the SAME DAY when she got my Privacy release and NOA1. We talked and she was livid that it was taking so long and that it wasn't right that CSC was processing faster, and how the website is lying, and we can't get answers through the number of USCIS. She then contacted TSC and found out my file was pulled. She called them back 4 days later...(this past Monday)...sent an e-mail to them (yesterday) DEMANDING they process my case expeditiously since it was, indeed, past the 5 month mark, and she wrote to say she is following up with a phone call today in regards to her e-mail and contacting me tomorrow with updates. Murphy's office has done TONS more than Blumenthal's!

Good luck to you guys as well!!!

Oh wow, that's great to hear! Thanks for the info! I'm going to get my fiancé to fill out Murphy's contact form and see if we can get in touch. Our NOA1 date is 4th Feb, so we're only just over the 5 month mark, but I hope we both receive something before the beginning of August!

Also, I just noticed, you're or your fiancé is from Branford! I was working there last year, and living in New Haven for 5months. Awesome restaurants in Branford! :-)

  9. Hey everyone!

So! My Senator contacted me today. They have been on TSC for about a week and a half. As soon as they received my privacy release form and NOA1, they set out on TSC like piranhas! My Senator's office called and told me that my case had been pulled and was in transit to an officer. I said "Dont be fooled!" They probably say that to Senators to let them know something is moving with my case...when in reality, they either lost it or can't find it. She called again 4 days later (Monday).....they told the same story "in transit to an officer." When my Senator told me this, I laughed and said, "WOW! His desk must be VERY far away for it to travel 4 days to a desk!! Maybe he's in another state hahaha". My Senator sent them an e-mail yesterday (Tuesday) and DEMANDED they process my application expeditiously since it is one month overdue. They are calling TSC back today to follow-up on the e-mail. I really love my Senator's office....they are so helpful.

She also explained not to bother with the call center. When Senators call the USCIS, they speak to Congressional Senators WITHIN THE USCIS!!!! They dont talk to reps or officers! So the call centers dont have the same information as those guys (Congressional Senators of the USCIS) do. Hope this information helps!

    #GoTeamSenators! #EastCoastRepresent!

Hey! That's so awesome to hear!

Can I ask which senator you got in contact with? My fiance contacted Senator Blumenthal last week, and we had just this second received an email and phone call to say they are working on our case with USCIS (should hear back within 1-2 weeks).

    Best of luck!!

  10. My fiancé just received notice from his senator in Connecticut that they are working on the issue and our case. He said they have a system with USCIS and we should hear back within 1-2 weeks.

It seems many are also doing the same, whether we get our cases pushed through and approved, or transferred to CSC, I honestly believe things will start moving in the next 1-2 months with a group effort.

Fingers, toes, legs and arms crossed! :-)

  11. This is so depressing

I hear ya! I am using this as an incentive to get on more and more peoples cases (senator and USCIS), someone on the Jan TSC filers suggested taking this particular data to the media if you're the petitioner:

Texas Service Center - Total I129F Applications: 9,629; Completed for April 2014: 971

California Service Center - Total I129F Applications: 2,897; Completed for April 2014: 2,732

Heart breaking statistics right there, but situations like this have happened before and were resolved by transferring applications. Chin up! :-)

  12. Bad news for Texas Service Center, I just had a look at the data for April 2014 (must have been updated in the last day or two).

    March 2014 - 8,203 applications pending

    April 2014 - 9,629 applications pending

    March 2014 - 1,051 applications completed

    April 2014 - 971 applications completed

It seems Texas is continuing to slow down and now has the highest amount of pending applications since the data started in April 2013.

    Data here:

    http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=6&office=5&charttype=1

Still holding out hope for something soon! Good luck everyone :-)

  13. Right now in Canada, visiting my fiance. I'm here for five more days, but I'm already feeling the weight of leaving. After this one, I don't even know when we'll be able to visit each other again.

Uncertainty is what gets me. The patience I've had is wearing thin as our five month date looms closer. To think that I'm leaving next week and I have no idea when we'll see each other again. This kills me.

Five months ago I was feeling really positive about all this. As our date nears, doubt starts setting in, and all these hypothetical paranoid questions pop up :

What if the person who gets our case just lets it sit there because we're a same sex couple and they refuse to process it?

What if months go by, and still I have no answer?

What if being in Puerto Rico affects my case, because so many people (probably even those in the US) don't understand the awkward political relationship PR has as a commonwealth of the US?

    Who would I write to?

We have no senator for PR, only a resident commissioner. And he has expressed his opinion against same sex marriage many times. Then, if months do go by, I doubt writing to him would make any difference at all. I'd probably be paranoid that it could actually hurt our case.

So I have tried not to think about it too much. Our daily Skype convos have been helpful and a definite blessing, so I've taken it fine, so far. But being in Canada and knowing that I'll be heading back soon, has made it impossible for me not to think about it. Without any future date set for our next visit (we've spent a lot of money as I came to Canada in January as well), I don't have the next "thing" that usually helps us endure the wait.

And sadness is definitely setting in. The one that knows that we simply can't do anything else but wait some more. And hope for the best.

But the sadness, man. It will be at an all time high within 5 days.

I know exactly how you feel right now. When we filed in January I was excited, I only focused on forums that had said this process would take 3 months before we'd see an approval. I was completely naive, and this was before I saw the TSC vs CSC discrepancy, and even then I continued to hold out hope, like I am now!

Don't get paranoid over these issues, I can imagine for a case officer they wouldn't differentiate, an application is an application, the more they get processed the better. And don't worry about the issue with Puerto Rico being a commonwealth, there are definitely others in the same situation as you, I saw the other day someone applying for a K-1 just a town over from my fiance and TSC has definitely dealt with cases from Puerto Rico before. Once your 5 month mark has passed, get in contact with USCIS to get an update, it seems everyone gets varying opinions as to where their case is, but some even see an approval within a week or two with calling! Make the most of the time you have with your fiance, and think the next time you will be in Puerto Rico - you will be getting married!

This should be an exciting time! Don't let USCIS ruin it for you, you're getting married and starting your life with someone you love! This should only make your relationship stronger, and you'll look back on it this time next year and think you'll never have to worry about being apart again! It will feel good!

  14. July 1st is almost here!! We sent our application on January 31st, but our NOA1 date is February 4th - July 4th will mark our 5 months!

My fiancé has just drafted a letter to his Senator in Connecticut (Richard Blumenthal), he is a member of the subcommittee for immigration, refugees and border security. We brought up the issue of the discrepancy between TSC and CSC with some of the data on the USCIS website - so fingers crossed for something!

We're going to fax the letter over sometime this week (figured a lot of people won't be in the office as it's a national holiday on Friday, so they'll probably process it next week) and according to his website, we should have a response within 30 days.

I really hope everyone hears something this month!! :-)

  15. I dont think we would get our NOA2 around October. That would make more than 8 months. I think they would be done with Dec by the end of this month. In July they would process Jan and August they would be processing Feb. What messes is people who ask for expedite and people who reach out to their senators before their 5 month is up.

I didn't say anything about getting our NOA2 in October, more likely July as others have stated. I was talking about the completed K1 visa, that's the end goal right? The NOA2 is just the beginning of this long process.

It takes as long as it takes!

  16. Hi anyone else get Approved yet from February????

Still nothing. I'm holding out hope, I still check the USCIS website daily even though I know it won't say anything other than "Initial Review".

Looking at others timelines, some have the whole process completed in 130-170 days, but it looks like the 230-260 day timeline is more normal for the Texas Service Center. That puts most of us into October or later before we can make plans to move!

My glimmer of hope is that there is a record breaking case officer there that churns out cases and approvals like there's no tomorrow! I want to be on his/her pile of applications! Fingers crossed!

  17. jessicauk we have the exact same timelines so hopefully we get some good news soon

Oh wow we do! Congrats to you, and fingers crossed for news! It's a relief to hear of others in the same situation, and especially with the same dates. Definitely let me know if you hear anything, I will do too!

Hi our NOA 1 is Feb 4th as well

Yay! We're all in the same boat! Congratulations and I wish you the best of luck, hope you hear news soon. I'm not enjoying this waiting game!

  18. First Post!

I too was really worried about whether I would be able to travel to the US after submitting for the K-1 - turns out I had nothing to be worried about! Currently in my last semester at university, so brought with me letters from my professor, and school as well as a copy of our NOA1. I've been travelling to the US about 5-6 times per year (1-3 weeks a time) for two years, and did 4 months there on a J-1 last summer as a background to my situation.

Flew into JFK Terminal 4 from London Heathrow

Officer: Are your travelling on your ESTA or J-1 visa?

Me: Travelling on ESTA, the J-1 visa was from last summer

Officer: Ok *clicked on his screen, stamped passport and took fingerprints* Have a safe trip hon

Easy as that! Hope this helps :-)
