  1. Hi Folks,

Received a notice from the DMV that my Driving license will expire soon and need to submit 'legal presence document' to renew it.

I had just sent in my I -751 package last week and jsut received my I-797 notice of action that my conditional resident status is extended for a period of 1 year.

Could I use this notice as the 'legal presence document' to renew the driving license? Any advice would be appreciated.

    thanks,

    rosie

  2. hi Vjers,

First, I like to thank all the Vjers who had helped us one way or another during our K1/AOS process... this is really such a helpful sit !!!!

In any case, I like to share my AOS interview @ San Jose this afternoon!

Our interview was for 1230 PM in San Jose. We arrived about 45 minutes earlier, went through the Security scan at the front entrance and proceeded up to the 2nd floor.

We dropped our appointment letter in the box and had a seat.

There were NOBODY in the room at all. So me and my hubby was just chatting away.

Our name was called at 1230 PM sharp and we meet the interviewing officer at the entrance door. We then followed him to the aisle of offices to his office.

He was pretty pleasant and upon entering his office, we were immediately sworn to tell the truth.

HE had a thick file of our petition and stuff. At this point we were really nervous but he didn't ask any questions except going through the documentation. He asked if I had done my vacinnation in US and I told him I had done it in Singapore.

He asked me the few standard questions from the form about ever being deported, terrorist, .....etc

He asked my hubby if he's still working in the same company and then asked for his 2005 1040.

Then, he asked us if we were ever married, any kids.....

He also asked hubby if he had met my parents before ...which he said a few times and very soon again :) ** we are going back home in Feb! **

He then asked me if I am planning to travel any time soon. I told him about our vacation plan to go back to SGP in Feb and then he smile said something like we are finishing up here.....I am planning to approve you and you should be receiving your conditional GC in 4-6 weeks. Congratulation! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

He also gave us a I551 stamp on the passport that valid for a year.

Gosh, what a relive !! WE were out of the office in 20 minutes or so! :)

Thanks once again to all and good luck to all still in the AOS process.

    cheers

    rozytc & hubby

  3. Hi All,

I just receievd my AP Documentes yesterday and am scheduled for the AOS interview tomorrow ** Yes really nervous about it **.

I know I am supposed to bring in the AP documents and so forth...

I am wondering if the interviewer would return my AP documents after the AOS interview ? As I really need these papers to travel back home in a couple of weeks for visit.

    Any advice?

  5. I was told / reading to wait a couple of weeks before applying.

    Any Input?

YEs, the SSA officer told us that it will be good to apply after 10-15 days after your POE date. (to ensure your name in the DB)

We applied around 14 days after POE date and received the card 5 days later.

    IT was a breeze..

  6. hi there,

I just arrived via JFK yesterday (on 11 Sept).

It was avery simple process. My fiancee was there with me and we followed the non-citizen line. When it is our tune at the counter, passed the I-94 card (white), the sealed envelope to the immigration officer.

He opened the envelope and run through the documentation in less than a minute and guide us to another office. He handed all the documentation to another officer there.

After less than 5 minutes, I received my passport back with the 90 days EAD stamp :) without even asking for it (though the stamp was not exacly CLEAR)

No questions asked whatever.. it was really a breeze for us. So ask your fiancee to relax and SMILE :)

    cheers

  7. Hi All,

aNyone has any experiences that they receive their temp EAD @ POE and send in the necessary AOS & EAD application and still receive the EAD before the temp EAD expires (after 90th day?)???

I am trying to figure if its worth it to fly via JFK at POE!?

    THanks for any advice!

  8. We saw 2 dates on our approved Visa on the passport.

What is the Petition Valid Till date for?

We know she has to travel in to US by the K1 Visa Expiration Date. Is that right?

Anyone who can confirm on this will be great!

    THANKS!

That is to make your entry into the US and use the visa. Its single entry, and once you enter its not valid anymore. You cannot enter if the visa has expired also.

The Visa Issue date is 26 Apr 2006

Visa Expiration Date is 25 Oct 2006

    Petition Valid till 02-Jul-2006

So are we ok if she travel in to US after the Petition Valid till date BUT before the Visa expiration date?

    thanks for any advice
