  1. It is always good to have the specific wording somewhere in there that he treated you and never considered you "to be a threat to yourself or others". Or he no longer considers you "to be a threat to yourself or others". That is one of the concerns of immigration...harmful behaviors. So if your doctor addresses that topic, it will be helpful to the Knightsbridge staff doctor when he makes his evaluation.

    Thank you for the reply.

I am following the instructions on here (which are great) but just wanted to check on this point. My GP is behind me 100% and there is a defined start and finish date to what happened with the emphasis on the the fact that there was finish date.

There was no issues of self harm or harming others and in basic terms just got my head stuck up my backside after having to close my business. I am going to get my GP to compile a report stating, diagnosis, start date, interventions and finish date with no lasting effects as well as I am not a threat to myself or others unless I have had a curry

My post was only to identify if there is any other specific information that would not be obvious at this stage.

  2. Has anybody got a copy of a consulate letter to a GP for clarification on depression / anxiety. I'm off to my GP on Friday and following VJ advice going to get a supporting letter to cover a short period when I lost my business.

I'm going to get the GP to state the facts...dates, medication and outcome (i.e cured) but don't want to miss anything 'obvious' without asking on here.

  3. Slept all night in a bed in the hospital. Something that made you sick enough or disabled enough that you needed some extra care or extra tests instead of going home the same day you were patched up.

Thank you for the answer. :)

I am going to see the doctor to get a list of hospital admissions from my medical file just so I don't miss one. There isn't that many but just want to be thorough.

  4. There's good answers already in this thread like this one--

    Or the one from rjm_cmyk

Do not fill out an I-134 if you are the Brit and self sponsoring. Just show them your money. There is no set amount. (Echoing maven). The officer needs to be convinced you will not become a public charge. It is totally subjective. No rules written up in law on this one. £80k will do it. I've seen VJ members say they were approved on $42k and around $50k. another with $8500 who had a stream of income that would continue. Not may post specifics. Why do you not want to reveal the full £80k, if you don't mind sharing. I can't figure that out.

The lawyer is wrong, wrong, wrong.

You are quite the worrier, aren't you? It's really not that difficult. The London people want you to succeed. They are not looking for tiny details to trip you up.

Actually, yes I am a worrier.....mainly because I am getting different information from the attorney and Visajourney. I don't want to 'sack' the attorney just incase there is a real issue that flags up but this isn't the only piece of information that has proven the attorney to be wrong. I was originally told the whole process would take 3 months!!!

The reason for not wanting to declare the full £80K is that some of it is tied up with my parents as an investment package and to show it in my sole name would mean cancelling policies and losing interest accrued etc etc.

    Thank you for your help.

  5. I know it's not helpful to hear, but there is no set minimum. It depends on the totality of your circumstances. People have self-sponsored successfully with considerably less. Have a back up I-134 with you from the USC just in case. Hopefully one of the self-sponsorship success stories will chime in here to say what they brought with them.

The self sponsorship option is a back up plan for our application but just wanted to know the procedure requirements so if anybody has been through it recently, can they give a detailed update?

  6. There are many people who have gone through London who have successfully self-sponsored. The I-134 is not binding, so in no way is it a "guarantee." Also, when self-sponsoring, I believe the non-USC does not present an I-134 but instead provides proof of self-sponsorship.

    This attorney is a moron.

I have my doubts about the attorney anyway.....................

Is it the case that you just don't 'produce an I-134 at the consulate but instead just produce proof of savings / capital and if so, is there a minimum as I will have about £80K spare but don't want to show all of the money to them?

  7. JUST HAD THIS SENT TO ME BY MY AMERICAN ATOURNEY REGARDING THE QUESTION OF SELF SPONSORSHIP IN LONDON.

    COMMENTS PLEASE???

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello, Richard/Sheri:

Good morning; thanks for your email.

    · In no way is that correct. The whole idea behind the I-134 is of course to guarantee that the USC sponsor will maintain the alien so s/he doesn’t become a public charge.

    · For the record, we checked with our counterpart in the UK who works daily with the US Embassy, London,, and she concurs. Her exact response was: “There is no way that London (or anywhere else) would take an I-134 from the foreign national for these purposes (K-1).”

    · Again, we can use savings when the time comes, or try a joint sponsor (Sheri has already stated that her mother can be used) or Richard can transfer savings to Sheri’s account, and those can be used on the I-134. Also, reminding you that we have some time yet; Sheri may have another job by then.

    Thanks and regards,

  8. Don't worry about these. I had kidney stones removed and had it on the questionnaire , the doctor didn't even mention it.

I'm not worried about the Doctor at all, all I am trying to determine is what they actually mean by hospitalised on the questionaire. Is that every event where I was admitted, spent the night in an observation bed or just visited A&E with a dislocated elbow???

Can you shed some light on this?

  9. I just put it all down, adenoids out in 1964 for example, well that's all I have ever been in hospital for..

What are usual domestic accidents, I have never been to hospital for one of those

I had a jet ski accident in 2003 and nearly drowned but was released from hospital the following day so it wasn't as bad as it sounds. Do I list all hospital visits where I stayed in at least one night right back to when I was born???

    Rich

  10. On the medical questionaire it has the question - Have you ever been hospitalized?

I dont know how much detail to consider / provide. I have been to hospital for the usual domestic accidents etc over the years but nothing serious and had a small knee operation in 2006 but wasn't kept in but I dont know how much detail to go into??

  11. HI All,

My first post on VJ starts with a question.....I received my NOA1 on 30th January.

My question is....My passport expires on 16th March 2015 should I renew now or does it not need to be done??

    Rich

hi there well basically it depends on ur interview date if on date of interview it has 6 mnths or more tham 6 mnths left to expire then u dont need to renew it but if on interview date on ur passport has less than 6 mths to expire then u need to renew it so basically if ur interview happens before 15th sep 2014 then u dont need to renew it and if it happens after 15th sep 2014 then u need to renew it..i hope it helps. best of luck

I have decided to renew it anyway as It's a gamble not worth taking. Thanks for the replies.
