Now I understand why you did not receive an oath ceremony letter the same day like I and others did who interviewed the same day: It is because of your request to change your name. I asked about changing my name but I also asked how long would it delay the oath ceremony. She told me it would take a long time because changing the name is easy but a judge has to either officiate at the oath ceremony or at least approve the name change. These are traveling federal judges and it depends on when they make their rounds in Miami. As a matter of fact the officer told me that it would be easier to change one's name using the local probate court (I knew this already before the interview than to go through USCIS. Okay, if I had to venture a guess, you will most likely have your oath ceremony within the next 7 weeks. Keep checking your portal, it is highly probable your letter will appear there probably within a week. It's taken you anywhere from 3 to 5 years to get to this point and another few months will pass rather quickly. Again, feel free to communicate any updates. Hang in there! This too shall pass, it might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass :-)
:)) @kidney stone, so true
I wish I also asked about the delay. Now back in the waiting game.
thank you so much for your replies and enjoy your citizenship:) -

The officer also said to me "to wait for my oath ceremony letter". I took her statement literally and waited for the letter to be handed to me. I even sent a message to my spouse who was waiting outside that I had to wait a bit for my oath ceremony letter. My question to you is going to sound inane, but did you misunderstand the officer and left without getting your letter? A few others that I had a few superficial words who interviewed at the same time also got their letter soon after the interview.
I would call USCIS and or send an email to them to inquire as to why others got letters immediately and you did not. Check your portal to see if there is any reference to a letter being sent to you. Soon after my interview there was a statement stating that I had been approved and that an oath ceremony letter had already been sent (of course I had mine in hand).
One more question for you....Did your interview occur at the USCIS office located on 8801 Northwest 7th Avenue, Miami? There are at least two other offices in Miami, as I understand it, where they do interviews and oath ceremonies.
Please keep us posted. I hope your letter arrives soon and/or you find out what happened.
Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes. I did have my interview at 8801 Northwest 7th avenue. After the officer asked me the test questions and go through the application form questions he gave me a paper saying I was recommended for approval. He told me that they will send me my oath ceremony letter. He escorted me out of the room, to the waiting lobby area and I left. Did I have to wait outside again? Did you wait in the officers office or outside at waiting area for the letter? I also asked for a name change(back to my maiden name) do you think that can be a reason why I didn't get my ceremony letter right away? I'm so confused.
On my uscis account its says;
July 20, 2021Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled
We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number xxxxxxx with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
Under the documents tab there is no oath ceremony letter , the last file is interview scheduled.
Again, thank you very much for your reply and congrats on your citizenship!

Congratulations! Had my oath ceremony this morning in Miami. Took a total of about 45 minutes, half hour of waiting for all to show and 15 minutes for the actual ceremony. Don’t forget your ceremony letter and/or residency card. A few people forgot them and were told that they will be rescheduled for a future ceremony. Also, some didn’t know that due to COVID-19 guests (includes spouses, friends, parents, etc unless a minor) are not allowed inside for the ceremony. Best to all!
Congratulations on becoming a U.S. citizen!
I also had my interview on the 20th in Miami and the officer told me that I should wait for my oath ceremony letter. How were you able to get your ceremony scheduled so fast? I am still waiting for the date.

Hi! Anyone from Miami still waiting for biometrics?
-
Anyone waiting for an interview to be scheduled at Ankara/Turkish embassy?
-
Can someone please confirm exactly what happens at NVC?
Do they repeat the same name checks down by USCIS (wouldn't surprise me)?
Do they simply make sure the Petition is in order and then forward it to the embassy?
I'm very confused by this stage of the process. In fact, I previously did not know the NVC existed. I thought petitions went from USCIS directly to the embassy. Ha! What a fool to think thing would be that simple.
I have exactly the same questions as you have. Unfortunately, have no idea. If anyone knows please inform us.

Don't give up DandF! Have you contacted your congressman office?
So many of us from Dec still waiting, it's unbelievable. Hope you get your NOA2 soon.
Thank you so much! I hope we all get past those difficult times...

Just checked and still nothing. I am racking my brains trying to think about why we have not been approved. This has been a tough year and I feel like giving up
Hey dandf I am on the same boat with you..pd December 31, still going through background checks..I am desperately hoping that we will get approved by the end of the year..
-
Thank you cocolucho.. I am the beneficiary but I will ask my husband to do that..My advise to you is to go directly to your congressman office and speak to the person in charge of immigration related issues and they will ask you to fill a release form and provide information about the case etc so they can talk on your behalf. Go in person if you can :-)
Good, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. hopefully you will not have to wait long on RFE :-)
Wishing you the best, I hope you hear good news soon on your case ;-)
Good plan, stay positive, bring good karma to you, hope you don't have to wait too long :-)

Is there anyone who has a sample letter to write to the congressman? It's been 284 days for me also and uscis tell me not to bug them for another 3 months. I know they say senators can't do much when it comes to background check issues but I am so desperate at this point.
-
Mine got approved just now! Thank you for everyone's support here. I hope for more good news for those will waiting. Moving on to NVC madness now..
NOA1 12/24/13, approved 10/10/14
Congratulations and good luck!

Don't lose hope guys, we recieved our I-130 email approval today after almost 10 months of waiting. I would suggest contacting the senator of state along with any and all congressman in your area. I started doing this about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden we were approved. Best of Luck to all.
Congrats with your approval, best of luck for the rest of the process.
-
More good news...
We just got approved! I haven't felt this relieved in such a long time. To the rest of you waiting, don't lose your head; approval is coming soon.
Off to NVC!
Congrats bluebeard! And good luck at Nvc.

Any idea how much time they take for background checks .Now its 10 month since NOA1 and when i can file service request again ?
On 24 September nsc told me that my background checks are still not cleared an..they also said I should wait 3 months before I contact them again..that's already new year 2015..crazy

Hello December peeps. I just joined the forum for information and support.
We are one of the few left also waiting for approval. Since July we have submitted two service requests and emailed the NSC three weeks ago. In their last reply (around two weeks ago) they informed us that the security background checks were done and the petition was pending adjudication, but we haven't had news ever since.
I was advised in the email to wait 30 days before contacting them again. We were hopeful to be approved shortly after, but I am not so sure anymore. We shall wait and see.
Best luck to all of us. May we hear great news in the coming days.
Welcome and good luck..I guess your noa2 will arrive soon cause once the background checks are completed the rest don't usually take too long (for other people that I have seen..)

Hello everyone, I was just curious if there are any other december filers who still haven't recieved a NOA2 yet. I filed Dec. 5th 2013. I contacted USCIS and did a service request last month and they sent back stating the case was pending adjudication. I have also been in contact with my local congressmen to see if that can get things moving.
Yes there is a couple of still waiting for noa2. .still waiting for background checks to be cleared..
-
My pd is December 31.What is priority date ?
-
No news from me also..they are still doing my background security checks..
