  1. Sorry for the delay in responding. I received the letter 3 weeks ago saying I'd been transferred to CSC, hadn't checked my status online, and then got the "congrats" letter in the mail, no emails at all.

I hope you all get yours soon :)

I just received my approval letter! Date of decision 02/28/09, green card's been ordered, please update me!

Did you receive an email from USCIS before or did your status online change?

Or you just got it in the mail?

  2. Hi All,

It's been a while since I've been on VJ, thought I'd update anyone who's interested!

Actually, there's not much to update (boring, I know!) removal of conditions is coming up, so I'm sure I'll be back on here for that to gather some info. I've just sent my passport and the outrageous fee to Washington for renewal. Hopefully I did everything right and it will be returned soon.

A few months ago I decided it was time to get a job. I applied for a job I've always wanted to do and got it. I'm now a 9-1-1 dispatcher in training and loving it! My accents definately a novelty, but I'm sure that'll wear off eventually. Not used to this early morning #######, but I'm learning!

Glad to see some of the old names still around :)

  3. Hi,

A friend of mine has just lost her husband, she's wanting to move back to the US and is looking for a recommendation for a removal or shipping company in the Calgary area. Can anyone help?

Sorry if this info is elsewhere, I couldn't find it and she's anxious to get moving as soon as possible.

    Many thanks.

  4. Great pics. I had my photograph taken with the lady with the cigar in Havana a few years ago! She was so sweet!

u wann atell me that u know that lady on real !!

Yep she sits in a doorway on a side street in Havana, Cuba. I've always wondered if she realises how famous she is.

  5. KT Tunstall has been around a while, she's very talented. I've been a fan since the first time I heard her. I highly recommend her album.

She has a song called Other Side of the World, which I used to listen to alot while still in the UK. It was one of our "dealing with the separation" songs!

  6. There's a song which is (over) played at the moment on the country stations. Some words in it just stick in my head.

.........I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me

    Because of you......

There are probably 4 people I trust 100% in this world. One of them is Dave, but it took a long time. Once bitten, twice shy n all that.

and now a few quotes to ponder....

"To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved" George MacDonald

“Trust is like a vase.. once it's broken, though you can fix it the vase will never be same again.” Unknown

  7. Well, that's pretty cool!

Are you going to look for work in that field?

Not sure yet. I'm going to work voluntarily at hubby's fire department on their Quick Response Team for a while and then maybe something part time. I really don't want to be tied down to a job, so may just stay voluntary. We'll see.

Thanks everyone for the congrats :)

  8. Just had to share with you all, as of Friday, I am now officially a Pennsylvania qualified Emergency Medical Technician! I'm so happy

It's always been something I've wanted to do and the opportunity came up so I thought I'd give it a go. It's been a mentally exhausting 8 weeks but it was all worth it.

Only the police to go and we have all 3 emergency services covered in the house!

  9. Swinging is alot like Sado Masochism in relationships. It's a lifestyle decision and suits some couples, but not others.

I'm sure it's the cause of a lot of marriage breakdowns, but I'm sure it also helps hold a lot together.

I know a few couples who partake in swinging, to them it's a social event and great fun. Protection is always used and they become good friends with the people they swing with. Contrary to rumours, all swingers are not sick perverts!

Also, most TV shows show the ugliest, least likely swingers to enhance your viewing pleasure.

It's not for us, sex is not something I like to share with others :P

  10. I'm not a christmas pudding fan either. I don't like the alcohol/fruit mushiness.

ETA: I just re-read this and it sounded like I didn't like the alcohol part! THAT is sacrilege.

  11. IOW holds so many memories for me.

We used to go with the whole extended family and stay in chalets in Shanklin and go for long walks, blackgang, the needles ohh the memories!

We went back a few years ago and took my neices and nephews who were as excited about everything as we were as kids.

All me, my brother and sister kept saying was "everything looks so much smaller"!
