  1. No,it is not my case, we got married in USA.

Yes, I called to NVC and told them about my situation, they ask me to send the letter requesting to change case # and attach copy of my passport for proof. I just don't know about this stupid proof, I have been living in Ukraine almost all my life and I am Ukrainian citizen, makes no sense at all.

So now I have to wait for new case #. They also recommended not to do DS-261 and AOS. So I just hope and pray that it will not take too long. :(

Oh, I'm sorry this happened to you! I hope they give special attention to your case since it was very obvious that this was their fault. Keep praying and believing that everything will be ok and will be fixed very soon! (Hugs)

  2. Sure enough I have to request to change my case number now. :( So much time will be lost.

Why would NVC give me number for Moscow embassy. :bonk:

It depends where you got married. Sometimes they give a different embassy based on your place of marriage. I was married in Gibraltar (UK territory) and they said I have to do my visa in Morocco but I live in Spain. But we put a note that since I will stay in Madrid if we can get Madrid Embassy in Spain instead of Casablanca, Morocco. And yes I got this initials on my case number - MDD (US Embassy, Madrid). I don't know if we have the same case or they just really processed your case wrong. But yeah go ahead and call them! I hope it will not take too long to fix it! :)
  3. I didn't put N/A in 1-6, just left it blank. Wonder if I'll get a checklist for that? Maybe I should call and see and send in another I864 real quick... *sigh*

One of the VJ member in this thread and I got a checklist for leaving a box blank and not putting N/A. (Part 3 #9 Place of Residence, even if it's the same with the mailing address). So yes, you are going to do the right thing to call NVC and tell them you will send a corrected form! :)

  4. For checklists, you don't fix the errors and re-send the entire package. You just send the corrections. So, according to this checklist, you just need to fix the I-864 form and send that. No need to include everything else. But, if you only sent W2s, and no 1040s, 1099s, schedules, worksheets, etc, then I would suggest he do that, or, even better, send the tax transcripts. I'm incredibly surprised you weren't checklisted for that...

In response to our past conversation Saylin, for the record and to correct my past statement, my husband said he submitted the 1040, Sorry! He just got confused and thought I was asking about the actual tax return. Reason why we didn't get checklist for that. Lol :D

I'm sorry that happened to you. Those instructions can be a little confusing and need to be read at least twice. Hopefully the number matches the Total Income but if it's not the case please follow Fabian&Rossy advice, be proactive and send the corrected form before getting any checklist.

    Will do! Thank you! :)
  5. Sorry to hear that. Did you check your tax forms to see if maybe your total income and adjusted gross income are the same amount? In my case, I filed 1040A because I needed to declare some credits but I had no deductions, so for me both lines were the same.

If they are different and you did put the wrong amount then call NVC and see if they can give you some guidelines. I know of one member that had the same error and realized it after he sent his AOS packet. He called NVC and then sent an updated 864 right away without waiting for a checklist. His delay was minimal.

I just think he put the wrong figure because I remembered him mentioning the AGI he got from 1040. Though, I will talk to my husband and ask him if the total income and the adjusted gross income are the same. (Hoping!) But anyway, thank you so much for your smart advise! :)

  6. Careful, AOS requires the "adjusted gross income" only if you filed IRS Form 1040EZ. If tax return was filed with either form 1040 or 1040A, then the "total income" amount should be reported for AOS purposes.

Fabian&Rossy is correct guys, please read the instructions carefully:

    I-864EZ Instructions:

For purposes of this affidavit, the line for gross (total) income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040EZ, the line for adjusted Gross income will be considered.

So, it depends on what IRS form you filed:

    Form 1040, 1040A = Total Income

Form 1040EZ = Adjusted Gross Income

Oh, so we did put a wrong figure again on our AOS form. That is so sad! :( But anyway thank you guys. Looks like we will get another checklist but I hope they just let us bring the corrected form on the interview! And sorry for giving a wrong information.

  7. Hi!

We received our case number (form to update the spreadsheet submitted - btw Saylin: nice background!!!).

However we were supposed to change my husband's address over the phone once the case number is assigned, but the NVC lady told us to send a request by email... which I find kinda weird (she had to ask a supervisor). Has anyone changed their address over the phone??

    Thanks

The CSR I have talked with also instructed me to email them for the change of address. Then after 3 weeks, I got a confirmation email for the updated address. :)

  8. PLEASE HELP: my case was completed yesterday according to CSR however I receive a checklist today and it was the same checklist I have before number 19 on I-864EZ I have copied exactly whats on my W2 now I dont have idea on what Im doing wrong. They want the beneficiary to bring the corrected one during interview but I dont know how to correct it. Please help...

We got a checklist for an unmatched amount coz we used the amount from W2. So per IRS, Adjusted Gross Income is defined as gross income minus adjustments to income. Refer to the federal income tax return:

    Line 4 - if you filed a Form 1040EZ

    Line 21 - if you filed a Form 1040A

    Line 37 - if you filed a Form 1040.

Hope it helps! Good luck on your interview! :)

  9. Got a checklist for my mother's I-864A, Part-1,Item-3, for leaving that space blank. We left that blank because both mailing address and residence address are the same. And also it clearly mentioned inside the bracket of item-3 that i only need to fill out If different from mailing Address. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS. We are so unlucky from the beginning of this whole process :(

Dear VJ members, please DO NOT leave anything blank on your forms. Their instructions are totally BS.. I learned my lesson!!

I feel you! We got a checklist for the same reason. Though we also had unmatched tax amount which I understand. But I can't believe they will actually give a checklist for not putting N/A for that billing and mailing address thing only? Seriously? That's ridiculous!

  10. How long will the nvc receved the packet .my husband use USPS to sent pur civil docs on march 24.how long will the nvc receive the packet?

When we sent the AOS package via express mail (USPS), it was received within 24 hours while when we sent the IV package via registered mail took 2 business days. But it doesn't mean it was considered received at the NVC. It will take few days before it will be generated in their system that it was received by them.
  11. I filed my 2013 taxes about 2 weeks ago by paper. I was wondering can I send my 2012 tax info with the AOS package since its before April 15th and then give them the 2013 transcript at the interview? Or should I just wait until my 2013 taxes is completed then send the AOS package?

Yes, you can submit the 2012. We did! We only got a checklist because the amount didn't match. Saylin said, just bring your 2013 copy of transcript, W2 and an updated AOS form in your interview.:)

Yeah, I was surprised too but I was thankful they didn't ask for it. Unluckily, we don't have the transcript yet but we will try our luck in sending the corrected I-864EZ only. Anyway, my husband already requested the transcript by mail since he can't access his online account in IRS. He will be gone for a month or so (work related), by the time he gets back if we get another checklist (hope not) then we can send the transcript to NVC. Anyway, thank you so much Saylin! :)

  13. Hi Saylin! I need your help on our AOS checklist. I found out my husband didn't submit the transcript just the W-2 of 2012, 2011, 2010. But in our checklist they didn't mention directly that we have to submit it but just to complete part 3 and 5, am I right? I am confused actually coz my husband told me we don't need it. He said they didn't ask for it. So he said he will just send the same package with the filled up form I-864EZ. In the form, put N/A in part 3 and do the correction on part 5, which is just a couple of cents difference. What do you think Saylin? I would love to hear your opinion regarding this matter. Thank you! Btw, kindly see the message below from NVC.

  14. I called NVC today to ask if they already reviewed my AOS. The CSR said they just did today and there were errors at part 3 and 5 of Form I-864EZ. I asked if we are going to get an email today but she said we have to wait for a couple of day. I just found out that my husband put the wrong figure. He had put the amount on the first box of his W-2 instead of #37 of form 1040EZ (Adjusted Gross Income) and didn't send a transcript.

Anyone who have requested for the transcript of Federal Tax Return at IRS? Can my husband request online or should he request via post? We would prefer online just in case. I will appreciate your reply guys! Thanks!
