Last year, I filed HOH and my accountant (a real CPA) advised me to file HOH. My husband wasn't and I didn't want to apply for ITN number. I called the IRS to be sure and they told me it was fine to file HOH even with my different last name. This year I can amend my taxes since he now has a SSN card.

My husband and I met and married on the first visit. As well as other Nigerian wives met and married their husbands on the first visit.

It took us 11 months. My friend in Detroit married her husband in Dec 2014 and he was approved in 9 months..

I went back 2 times. My friend could not. My friend in Al went once and her husband was approved in 11 months.. It's tons of stories like this... I wouldn't say K1's are any quicker it depends on your service center.

But you will need to meet the family, Lagos is huge on pictures and a really good solid petition. Marrying in Mexico may not be the best idea but do what you think is the best.

Green Cards are taking around 4 to 6 weeks. My husband enter the country Aug 19 and didn't send off for the green card until Dec 11th.. He received it Jan 16th a total of 6 weeks. Remember we had two holidays in-between as well..

SSN card he went into the office Aug 22 and received the card the same week. Monday went in and Friday received.

Just because you filled out the DS form doesn't mean they will send it to you automatically. You will need to still go in.. Everyone I know that waited would've have still been waiting if they hadn't asked me. Good luck

It took my husband a week and a day...they told him 5 days after the 4th of July holiday...when he went that next Friday it still hadn't made it...however he emailed the embassy and they responded in 2 business days..

You do not need to be in Nigeria in order to petition for marriage.. I sent everything to my husband and when I arrived we married on May 22nd... We married at the Federal Registry... You will need to send his a statement saying you are single. If you are a mom they don't regard you as single... We didn't run into any problems.. my husband had to pay and I had to send him a picture (passport size) they post your picture for 21 days prior... just in case he is married... I just got married last year in Nigeria, Victoria Island.. My husband will be here in August.. good luck

He may interview in Nigeria, but he will be interviewed by Americans. Be careful with your chat logs any thing can be misinterpreted. ( I didn't send chats but I did visit twice after I got married.) I filed my petition without chats. That doesn't work for everyone, but I didn't want them to read into our conversations.

They keep telling me, your file will be there in plenty of time. Typically, they give the CO 30 days to review from all the posted I've read. This is insane.. I'm so worried, I'm up all night... I have my faith however as a human I worry and becoming very anxious...

My case is still saying at NVC and my husband's interview is next week. I promise I hate NVC and if they don't have time to review our case. Come on!!

Yup, they received my money and received my documents on 3/13. Never even looked. I called at the 45 day mark and they were surprised. Day 59 case complete. .with no reason why it wasn't looked at. They gave me an interview and haven't even mailed my stuff yet..

I've been to 9ja several times. It's plenty of safe places in Nigeria. I had one bad expand that was on the expressway. ..other then that I still went back each time I love it. Stay on VI if you can afford it...

My question is if you've never met him why did you pay the 340...how you know he is who he say he is... good luck but jump on a plane and met him...

I know their system has been hosed. usually emails come with 24 to 48 hours. I would call them to see whats up.

I called yesterday and they said No Interview yet. My friend is waiting and her case was complete in April. I was hoping since they made such a huge mistake with my case (by over looking it) they would give me a interview qucikly. A girl can dream...

Hi. Sorry for all of your troubles. Most people are saying their cases were reviewed in about 2-3 weeks after they received a checklist but of course it varies from one case to the next. For Nigeria I'm told it's about 60 days from case complete to interview date and about a week to pick up your visa if approved. I'm not sure about India.i also heard NVC will be scheduling July interviews from May 26th thru June 8th. This is all here say.

After a month in embassy limbo my husband was called yesterday that his interview was scheduled for today at 1 pm i am a nervous wreck waiting for his call, he is at his interview as i write this i am so grateful to God for the patience he has taught me .... i am sooooo anxious

I am sorry to hear about your situation. I asked my husband and he explained that is definitly a scam. The very process you descirbe is all scam. He also stated, your husband knows this is a scam and is wrong for placing you in the middle of this. I know a woman this has happen to, her husband did the exact same thing needless to say the FBI showed up at her home. She sent her husband over 10k and she kept 5k. Someone had to take her children, while she spent about a month in federal holding. She is still trying to deal with, but has forgiven her husband. My advice don't do it and definitly quesiton him on every single thing. To be honest how can you trust him when in your heart you know the truth. Let's give him the benefit of doubt, maybe by some odd reason he is clueless (I doubt it), then he really has no right to be mad or upset with you. He should understand and figure it out on his own. Hopefully, he will read these post and understand he cannot do that to someone he loves!! I wish you all the best..

Hello Congrats! ! I see we are both waiting for interviews to be scheduled in Lagos. Any luck yet? They told me interviews are usually scheduled at the end of the month.

Hello! I called and got the update. Apparently they do email you but it's usually some days after your case is updated. Calling worked best for me.

Nope, not yet. I'm assuming this week and next week would they would start scheduling for July. Its someone who was approved in 47 days and just got CC on 5/14 and has interview schedule for 6/4/15. ( This seems expedite, not typical) Good luck, I will call on Friday.
