wow good for you for if your case is being processed quickly. My husband did his medical before his case was complete at NVC. I was told as long as you have your case number and visa preference category (husband's case was IR-1 petition for U.S. spouse) you can go ahead and do medical. You can email St. Lukes and call them as well just to double check. Also I don't know if NVC is still backlogged but keep in mind medical is valid for six months.

My sister had the same situation as you. She was worried too but everything went well at the interview...

Ok. It already happened. Cant do anything about it. Composing myself and keep going.. im telling myself not to call NVC from now on.but i know, i cant resist because my husband wont do that. Im thinking that he really doesnt want me to be with him. What a total mess.

It is understandable for you to think that way but just bec. We think our husband's don't care doesn't mean they really don't care. No offense to guys here but if my husband was the one doing all this process It will probably take forever too! Lol he is the best but he just doesn't have the patience to call nvc everyday or read the wiki more than once. Hope you and your husband will be able to resolve this and be United soon. Just think this is one of the trials that u need to go through to make ur relationship even more stronger!

I got through after dialing 50+ times! Lol the wait time wasn't bad though only 24min...

Frustrated.. my husband and i kept on arguing about the ds260. The attorney insisting that i have to sign the paper based application. But i stand on what i know. I filled up the online based application of ds260 without letting that attorney know. I did it all by myself. Maybe its one of his stupid reasons of not sending the civil documents, maybe he's waiting for the forms.. i want to stay here in tgehe philippines. if i am not calling the nvc, we are totally waiting for nothing. what a mess!

Im just sad and mad at the same time.. i cant do anything here in the philippines.

I have a feeling that this process will take even longer.. my husband is planning to change his address on july 1st.. i cant think straight..

OMG! My husband's interview was scheduled today for July 25th in London! I just got an email:

An immigrant visa interview is scheduled for [my husband] and any eligible derivative applicants

When they say 'currently being reviewed' did they mean it was currently with an officer? If so, you should call back today and find out if it's been approved.

Others have posted that once the officer opens the file and reviews the packet, it's approved/check listed that day.

My in-laws documents were scanned on the 13th as well. Just got off the phone and was told 30 business days story. Mysteriously, they are currenlly working on documents scanned on 3rd of May. Really????

maybe they meant the 13th of May? I called yesterday was told aos and ds260 approved and my file scanned on the 13th is currently being reviewed but I guess we'll never really know LOL

Mz Agent Tori (with a lovely Boston accent - I miss life on the east coast!) says my May 16th packet has not been reviewed yet. She was pleasant, but I rattled off all the info she needed as soon as she answered, so maybe she appreciated not having to ask me all those questions lol

She asked if my husband completed the DS-260, which he did on the 14th, so do they "approve" the DS-260 before the IV?

Hi, I would wait one or two weeks to call NVC if your case has been recieved and then more waiting normally it take 25-30 days for case number to be assigned but you'll never know.. In the meantime you can read Saylin's wiki about NVC process on the first page of this post:)

I did that but they did not count my exemption for her because she did not have an SSN or ITIN. Should I dispute this?

Your spouse is required to have ssn/itin to be claimed by you on an mfs return (source: irs instructions 1040)

The tax person put me as head of household. Is that ok? If not, what steps do I need to take to file an ammendment? Do I go to my tax preparer and have them fix the error? (Although i will pay extra close attention before signing anything) and approx how long does the ammendment take to process or get completed?

I believe its ok, I recently took a tax class and I learned that married person can file head of household if he/she meets the criteria such as leaving separate residence from spouse, qualifying child and support test. As always please read more on the IRS website.

Also if ever you decide to file an amendment to change to Married Filing Separate status, I would recommend using the assistance of tax professionals. There are tax credits/ deductions that you cannot take if filing MFS and if you filed Head of Household, most likely you took those tax credits/deductions on your 1040 so you will have to change that as well. This is why most tax people will advise you not to file MFS because it gives most people the least advantage/benefit.The amendment process usually takes about 8 to 10 weeks.

Hi, nvc will send u an email once they assign you a case number. You can use that letter for medical that is what I did for my spouse's advance medical at st. Lukes. To be on the safe side I emailed st lukes with the question about taking medical without interview letter and they replied with a yes. I ask my husband to bring a copy of the email along with him at the medical just in case. I believe you don't need to schedule an appointment but register online st lukes website prior to visit to save time.

I am so frustrated. I tried filling my taxes online and I could not, because it wanted certain numbers for my husband. So my mom talked to her tax lady about it and she said it was no problem. So I made an appointment with her and explained everything to her. She said yep that is no problem. So I sat down with her as she filled out my taxes, and I saw her mark married filling separately. Now that I need to send AOS package I am making copies of my 1040 and I see it says SINGLE!! THE ANGER I HAVE RIGHT NOW. Trying to calm down and hoping this doesnt make a problem for me. My mom is saying I might be ok, because we were married after June. I was hoping anyone could shed some light on this and if any of you filled single and if it caused any problems for you!

You are fine, It happened to me. Completely IRS fault but unfortunately you have to file an ammendment. It will take about 8 weeks for them to complete the process the when it is done you just print out a copy of your record of account transcript online it will show the changes. Obviously u cannot wait for this so just attached a letter explaining the mistake to your transcript and let them know u already filed an ammendment. This is what I did and my aos just got approved last week. Just bring the ammended transcript on the interview. U can also submit a copy of your 1040 tax return and w2 with the aos and again just submit the ammended tax transcript at the interview in case they ask.
