Hi, all! I
I'm getting concerned about my husband's citizenship going through. We live in Seattle and are 'in line for an interview,' but I know if people who applied literally the day before us in Seattle and already have interviewed.
Our dates are below:
Date filed: 8/31/17
NOA.: 9/15/17Bio: 10/12/17Should I be worried? What can I do to find out if there is an issue? -
I'd love to ask a question of all you VJ brothers and sisters...
To what extent do you and your partner share the work on your IR-1/CR-1 process? Does the USC do most of the work or the non-US citizen? Do you share it equally?
Of course, there is no right or wrong here! I'm just curious.
My disclaimer: I'm the USC, and I have done 95% of the work. The reasons? I've already done my OWN process for a Permanent Residency Visa for Australia, and I'm more familiar with the paperwork. I had to get a Police Certificate from the USA, Japan and Hong Kong. I've already had to "prove" my relationship for the Australian visa, so I knew how to gather and organize all the civil documents and other proofs. My partner does not enjoy email, chat or forums, and I love them. We chose to use an attorney in New York City, not too far from where I live (about two hours away). And, of course, it was easier for me to hassle the NVC for info!
How about you?
Sukie in Oz
Same Sukie! I did the vast majority of the work and for the same reasons. We didn't use an attorney, though, mainly because we couldn't afford it. But then I found VJ and I didn't need an attorney's help after all. :-)

All you folks waiting for your interviews...
I've been checking the DHL site like a maniac. The last package *I* can find is from June 13th!!! There was a huge batch that went out on the 11th, and some on the 12, with one to Ireland on the 13th, but absolutely NOTHING since then.
I think my file is already at the Sydney Consulate (I think it got there Monday morning, Aussie time), but my case status has been "In Transit" since last Friday.
Has anyone else been trying to track their package from NVC to their Embassy/Consulate?
The ONLY reason I'm a little nervous is that we have to get written permission for me to attend the interview - and we've written the Consulate, with no reply. If our case hasn't reached Sydney yet, I fear they will not answer the email. I'd just like to know that the file has arrived....
Sukie in Oz
Hi Sukie! I have been trying to track them and I think they might already be there. Do I need to get permission to be at the interview too? I thought I could just go and also bring our bubs.

Hi all!
My interview is July 1st and I have a couple questions (already e-mail the embassy but heard they don't get back to people in a timely manner):
1) How soon after the interview would you book your flights. I wanted to fly out July 10th but I am afraid we wouldn't have our passport back by then...July 16th maybe? What do you think?
2) Is it possible to pick up the passport from the embassy instead of having it sent out?
Thanks everyone!

Interview scheduled July 1st!!
Woo hoo! I just got the e-mail and almost woke my sleeping baby because I was so excited!!!
Super strange too because I called when NVC opened and they said it wasn't scheduled yet but I got the e-mail just after NVC closed! Woot! We're in!!! Interview on July 1st!!!
Sukie in Oz
OMG Sukie we got the same day!!! What time? Party in Sydney!!!
-
Well I called NVC just before they closed for the weekend and no interview date yet, but Don assured me that they are still scheduling July interviews.
-
snikit15, the website for the Sydney Consulate is soooooo outdated! It still has the instructions for DCF - and Australia doesn't do that anymore! NVC will send the docs to the Consulate, and you will bring exactly what you list above.
There is so much that is outdated on ALL the US Embassy sites!
Let me know when you get your date - I'm not too far behind you!
Sukie
Hi Sukie!
CONGRATS!!!! You made it!!!
I'll let you know when I get an interview date. I would have one already if not for NVC deciding I actually didn't have a CC and then giving me a later CC date. Whatevs!
I'm calling Saturday morning (Fri night their time, ya know!) to see if they've scheduled it yet.
xx

Doesn't look like a checklist to me. It seems more like a case complete. Am not an expert here, please correct me if am wrong.
Looks like it correlates with that blip in your case, where it was CC, then not, now you're good to go!
Thank you both. I think (hope!) you're right! I am SOO ready to get back home with my hubby and baby!
-
Okay so we have our *second* case complete for my husbanda yesterday after an NVC mistake and then just got a checklist that says this:
______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The NVC has received the information you submitted and placed it in your case file. You will be
contacted when your petition is sent to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate for further processing.
[MM4 06/03/2014] SYD2014*******What do you make of this? Help/Advice?
Thanks!
-
Well they said my case complete has been changed to today because they had to check my police certificate again for some reason. I don't know why. Whatever at least the case is complete now!
-
I have no words. They're messing with people's lives! I hope it was an error on NVC's end and you DO have a case complete!!!
wow!! that's just not right... I hope when you call again someone tells you exactly what you want to hear!
Call back someone made a huge mistake, so sorry your going through more stress.
I am calling now. Hopefully I get someone nice and helpful who can clear all this up for me! Thanks for the love and support, everyone! <3 xx
-
I would call back if I was you to double check!
This is ridiculous! what the hell is going with NVC? did they get the USCIS virus?
Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor and find out what the issue is and you will deal with it at the embassy.
Do you have someone else tied to your case? I was told that my stepson's case was complete, but then I had to wait another week for my wife's case to be finished. Then, on the day they told me her case was also complete, they told me that the official case complete date for my stepson was the same as hers (though it was a week later than they originally told me). So if two cases are linked, it may be that they're waiting to complete the second case to be wrapped up. Good luck!
I tried calling back straight away (wish I just asked for a supervisor right then!), but it gave me the busy signal over and over again for over an hour so I gave up and went to sleep. Awake now so calling again. I will ask for a supervisor. *sigh*. I hope the person just didn't know what they were talking about.
They already sent me a checklist for things that I am meant to take the the interview so maybe she saw that and thought my case wasn't complete? We don't have anyone else tied to the case. :/ Hopefully I can figure this all out today!
Thanks for the advice everyone! xx

Well, I'm back.
I just spoke to NVC to ask about my interview date and they said my case isn't complete and is still under review. I'm so confused. Last week they said case complete as of the 27th of May. Ugh. Feeling really sad. :'( -

Packet 3 is for k1. There nothing you need to do but have medical and prepare for your interview.
Thank you! I had a mini-panic moment there! :-)
-
Hi everyone, I am going through the consulate in Sydney, Australia and read that we needed to submit "packet 3" with a "statement of readiness to interview". Has anyone else heard this? As far as I knew, NVC would send all the docs to the consulate and I would only have to bring passport photos, passport, the medical info, proof of our relationship, and copies of the into we sent to NVCalong with receipts of payment.
-
I'm from Melbs. Just finishing booking Syd trip now eek!
Awesome
Good luck with it all!! xx

Found out yesterday that my interview will be July 1st.
My NOA1 April 2013, so for some reason I'm not excited? I probably don't believe it.
I'm thinking of going against all the advice and booking a flight in advance, but probably 3 weeks after the interview to be safe. Flying from Australia it could mean the difference of $1000 to book ahead of time so I feel like it's a calculated risk.
Congrats jajaju! I'm in Australia, too (Adelaide), so will call Tuesday to see if I got an interview date as well. :-). Where are you from in Oz?

Sorry, me again!
Did you send JUST the missing documents or a whole new AOS?
Thanks!
No worries! I sent the AOS barcode sheet from the original package, a cover sheet that I made saying what documents were included and that they were corrected because I made a mistake, and the corrected documents with supporting evidence. In this case it was the I-864 for my joint sponsor that hade the error, so I sent the corrected form with the tax transcripts for 2013, 2012, and 2011 and another copy of his birth certificate. I did not send my I-864 again, my tax transcripts, or my supporting documents for domicile and that is what my AOS checklist was for BUT the checklist was resolved the next day.
Hope that makes sense!
-
Hey cscrum,
I did something similar with my AOS and it was fine. They reviewed my second package first, though and I got a checklist that said the documents from my first AOS package was missing, but the next day they reviewed the first package and they said to ignore the checklist. AOS accepted :-)
Hi there,
Not sure if the man you talked to shed any light on what happens if you send additional documents before you receive a checklist?
My case was scanned in on May 15th but I realized yesterday I forgot a Tax Form that other people have been check listed for. So instead of waiting another 1-2 weeks for a potential checklist, I decided to send in the forms. I wrote ALL over the entire file that these are additional forms to be added to my already-scanned-in AOS package.
Hmmm. Wondering what they will do with mine? Will it be scanned in as another AOS package? Or will it sit in the file room you talk about until they review my original AOS? Or maybe it will be added to the queue as a totally new AOS even though it only contains additional documents...
I might have to call next week when it should be scanned in and try and speak to a supervisor about it. Because it won't have a checklist cover page on it, only my original AOS barcoded cover sheet. I am not sure if anyone has any insight of others in this situation?
Thanks!
-
It does NOT look false to me- it is asking for some specific information.---
If you had recieved this checklist before and sent it in--- then I would call them and see if they got it reviewed. how long has it been since the first notice of a checklist -?
I have never had a checklist before this. I originally sent my AOS package in two separate packages, one that had everything in it and another that was a "stand-alone" co-sponsor package because in the original package I caught a mistake after I sent it. So the stand-alone package was corrected but didn't have my docs in it, only the co-sponsor doc. So I called NVC and they said maybe they have only reviewed the co-sponsor package and haven't gotten to the other one yet. :/

Folks in Seattle are still waiting. We just moved from Seattle to Chicago, and like two weeks after our case was transferred to Chicago, the Chicago office scheduled our interview. It's scheduled for 10 days from now. Almost there, I hope!
