Last communication i got was that the visa had left NVC, that was back in the beginning of August. My Fiance filed DS 160, and we waited and waited for packet 3 to arrive. i finally emailed the US consulate in Sydney only to hear back that packet 3 supposedly had been emailed to me ( the petitioner) back in Aug with an interview date for Sept that had come and gone. Total shock and horror ensued at that news. My fiance now has another interview date set for next week, but since he never got packet 3 with plenty of time and instructions he will be heading off to interview w/o his police clearance complete. The consulate had a correct email for me, but i never received anything, and besides we always thought that my fiance would get the instructions, not me.

Moral of the story, if you think there is a problem be proactive and contact the embassy or consulate. The worst they can tell you is to wait.

So VJ people, fingers crossed his interview is on 10/14/14.

Neither my fiance or I received packet 3. Finally after about 6 wks from getting the NOA2 i emailed the Sydney consulate only to hear that they had emailed packet 3 to me, US the petitioner, with an interview date for my AU fiance that had come and gone... I never received an email version of packet 3!!!! He is rescheduled and they told us to bring a copy of the emails documenting that he or i never received packet 3 or interview date.

He has his interview in 4 days, but it looks as though he will not have his police clearance done by then. What a roller coaster nightmare this has been.

Not sure what process is if he doesn't have his clearance in hand.

My fiancé is moving from AU to the US once the Visa is approved.

Seeing as we are not approved yet and don't have an arrival date it is impossible to plan a wedding date, and as it stands now it looks like he will come in our ( US ) winter.

He has a large number of family and friends that want to come to the wedding but need more than 90 days to plan the trip, and we don't want them all making the journey here in winter.

We have talked about doing a civil ceremony to meet the 90 day Visa requirements, and then plan our family and friend ceremony for next summer. The problem is we don't want the civil ceremony to take away the magic and significance of making our vows before family and friends.

Anyone else planning on doing something like this?

What do you call the ceremony that happens after you are already legally married?

Do we send out a wedding an announcement after our civil ceremony and then invite them to our celebration at a later date?

Any and all thoughts on this topic would be much appreciated

It's been 5 month to the day since Dallas lock box received our k1 visa petition, and no movement since then. Everyday day waiting on pins and needles for NOA 2. Today i submitted my E request through the USCIS website to hopefully find out what the hold up is. I was told you can't submit this until the "normal Processing time is up"

I am looking for feedback from others who have done this to know what to expect next. This process is not for the faint of heart!!!!

This is such a test of patience. Seems that the texas service center is not moving very fast.

Just had to share my frustration...... am sure you other Jan filers in the same boat can relate. Seeming unlikely at this point the we will be in the 5 month average window....

What service center are you going through? Cali seems to be moving the fastest.

yup, compulsive checker too, and I agree, Texas service center doesn't seem to be moving very fast. Leaving to visit fiancé in AU next week. Was hoping to have NOA2 before departure. This will be last time we see each other until visa is approved.

this is my first post: love this site and so grateful for all the great advice on helping me get the k1 application together.

Here's my timeline:

mailed k1 visa on 1/27/14 to Dallas lock box

1/30/14 txt and email saying case was received and check cleared bank

2/4/14 noa1/ I-797 received in mail

Here it is 2/13/14 and no notification of alien registration # being changed

Most other post show this happening within a few days of NOA1

Anyone know about that time frame?

in other news I too am going to visit my fiancé in march, hoping to get NOA2 before the visit.
