  1. Hi all, my husband has his interview on April 24th and we received the interview letter from the embassy but there are no documents listed. I already have photocopies of civil docs and most of the originals just in case, his passport photos, medical.I am wondering if I should also bring a new I 864 for me and our sponsor or if 2014 tax returns are enough? Any insights greatly appreciated!

  2. This is how we did it the first time, the problem is that you can't get one from abroad without a current residency card (my husband's is expired). From reading other posts I don't think we will need it seeing as he has not been present in Spain since the police report was issued. Hope that this is right!

  3. Hi,

I am going through the documents for my husband's interview on April 24th 2015.

I just realized that his police certificate from Spain was issued on April 14th 2014 which means it will be just over a year old on the date of his interview. He no longer lives in Spain and hasn't returned there since the police certificate was issued (we made the trip there just to gather documents for his visa and will not be able to get a new one as his residency card has expired), so it seem as though it shouldn't be an issue, but I just want to make sure. We already got new copies of his police certificates from Brazil (where he currently lives).

Is the one year validity for ALL police certificates, or just for the ones from current place of residence?

  4. Also one thing I have learned about expedites is the interview date doesn't necessarily mean you will get an earlier date. Expedite means your case gets worked on faster and you get the next date available usually and that's what is available for CR1/IR1's I would take the March date and run with it.

Thanks Dwheels I really hope that the March date is actually the right one, I am going to confirm with them though because if I show up and they tell me its the wrong day it will be an expensive mistake (I have to fly to the consulate).

  5. Once I had to e-mail the consulate (about something related to the K-1 visa) and I used the immigrationrio@state.gov e-mail address. They responded the following day with a thorough and accurate answer. Have you tried that address yet?

I have no idea about the expedite, but if they moved your interview up almost a month, that would seem like it had been expedited to me. K-1 interviewees normally have to wait about two months as well between the consulate receiving the package and the interview date. I don't think they can bump somebody else to give you that person's slot, even if you are being expedited.

Thanks! I worded my question wrong.... both of the dates I mentioned were in the SAME email, so I don't know which date it actually is. If it is March 30th I agree it doesn't seem like that long, but if it is April 24th that is definitely normal scheduling time or more (Feb 9th to April 24th). I will try again at the immigration email address maybe the delays are due to carnaval.

I used to send emails to them in that same adress immigrationrio@state.gov and usually got an asnwer on the same day or on the following day. And I agree with sma1488, I think they already expedited your interview date. I know it might be a long time for you, but it will pass fast :)

Thanks for your response... see answer above too!

  6. Have you checked out all the numbers and verified from the info page here. It's just been updated.

    http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Brazil&cty=Rio%20De%20Janereiro

    I did,

As well as read all of the info there :)

They no longer accept calls about visas, you can only get through if you say it is an emergency involving a US citizen.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi all

I am hoping to find someone out there with experience with the consulate in RDJ

My petition was approved for expedited processing on Feb 4th 2015 and received by the consulate on Feb 9th. There is no phone number that accepts calls about visas and I have sent multiple emails without response.

I just got an email from their office confirming my interview for April 24th 2015, and another confirming my interview on March 30th 2015. Considering my expedite was granted because of an emerging medical situation it seems like both of these dates are VERY far away.

I am totally lost and desperate and don't know what to do. I have already emailed the consulate about the situation (as well as requesting to confirm the actual interview date) but am afraid that I won't get a response.

Is there any way to get in touch with RDJ about visas via telephone?

  8. I had a look but can't find my package through DHL. When I called NVC yesterday the operator said everything was in place and my file should be sent out. She wasn't sure why it hadn't been. So she sent it for Supervisor Review which I'm hoping doesn't 'overwrite' the expedite and make it sit in a supervisor review queue for 60 days!

Did you check your status on CEAC? mine took until today to change....and when i called on wed she said it should go out in the next few daya. it might just take a few days hopefully they will send it out on Monday or Tuesday :) I would call and check again on Monday maybe you will get lucky and talk to someone who knows.... best of luck!

  9. The reason why I asked is because my case was complete January 16 and they gave me my interview date on January 30 for March 26 for what I can see on the spreadsheet only I had cc and interview for the Dominican Republic and I think One Other Girl

Once you know the date it left you can use the DHL tracking here: http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html

    You will write

    EXP 04 FEB 2015A

(switching out the 04 for the day before NVC sent your case)

choose a date range below (for example feb 1st through today)

and then select your country.... the rest you leave blank. You might have to try a couple of different dates around the date yours was shipped... and then you should see results for your country that might be yours :) It will give you an idea of when your case arrives at the consulate.

I wouldn't worry too much though because there is plenty of time before your interview. Hope this helps.

  10. The reason why I asked is because my case was complete January 16 and they gave me my interview date on January 30 for March 26 for what I can see on the spreadsheet only I had cc and interview for the Dominican Republic and I think One Other Girl

That makes sense, but since there are many people who apply for visas who don't use visa journey (as well as other visa types) the only way to know the date your case left NVC is by calling and confirming, or checking the CEAC website visa status. There you will see IN TRANSIT when it is mailed and READY when it is at the consulate ready for your interview. Congrats on your interview I hope that it goes great and you are with your loved one soon!!!!!

  11. Well, by dwheels76 How to track your case using DHL

    1-go to DHl.com

    2- tracking by reference

( example your CC on 05 FEB 2014)

    3- put; EXP 04 FEB 2014A

    4- range between 03 FEb 2014 to 07 FEB2014

    5- choose your country

it will show you most details and your tracking number also.

But how did you know your papers were in that shipment. I have a feb 4 cc too.

    Good Morning

I have a question if my case was complete on January,30 how do I track it on DHL?

Just because youre case is complete doesn't mean that it is shipped out and you can track it via DHL.... the DHL tracking will only work once you get your interview scheduled (for IR-1 CR-1 casese K-1 is different). Once your interview is scheduled you can call NVC and find out when your case was sent to the consulate and track it using those dates. There are many cases shipped every day so only by knowing the exact date it was sent will you be able to check :) for example I checked for Brazil and there were cases sent on Feb. 3rd and Feb 5th but the only one that could be mine is the one that was sent on Feb 6th as that is the date that my documents left NVC according to their records. You can also check on CEAC and see if your case status changed to "in transit" here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

  12. I submitted an email expedite request on 21st Jan. I received an email saying it was under review on 26th Jan. The email saying the expedite had been granted came on 4th Feb. The was for the London Consulate.

I'm still waiting for my case to be shipped to the consulate. They are the ones who will then arrange the interview. I'm hoping it will be in the next few weeks.

My expedite request was also granted on the 4th, and my case shows in transit today... so maybe yours is too! If you look on the interview thread there is info on how to track your case using DHL that way you will know when you can contact the consulate :) congrats

  13. When you approved for an expedite doesn't mean it will fly out on wings of eagles to the embassy. Hopefully it will go out tomorrow or next week. Just keep an eye out. Sometimes it says at NVC and its actually gone out (come on its NVC) :goofy:

Hahahahaha love this. Now I will keep on imagining that my case is flying on eagle wings....

I am just over excited, it felt like nvc was never going to end!

Thanks :) I hope everyone's cases can hop on eagles soon!

  14. Scan date Dec 8th just called and talked to a rep.... who said that my expedite request had been approved. They told me to call on Monday for more details and that my case is being forwarded to RDJ consulate. I requested an expedite via my state representative for financial hardship and an emerging medical situation (I am 5 months pregnant and high risk because of Crohn's disease and my husband has a time restrictive job offer in the US that he has to start by June 1st). I am shaking with joy....

Thanks for all of your help and good luck

  15. Mine is December 8 and still waiting.

I called morning US time and was told document I sent for the checklist has not been reviewed yet. I was asked to call by the end of this week.

The rep mentioned that they missed some days due to the weather and holidays, reason why there are delays to some cases.

My scan date is also the 8th, that will be awesome if they are done by the end of the week!!!! I was thinking I would wait until Monday to call so that they wouldn't say anything about the weather :) good luck I hope we both have CC by Friday!!!!!

  16. I'm sure someone has already shared this before but it gives some insight into the NVC process:

    http://travel.state....vember 2014.pdf

Some of the statistics were pretty surprising like the amount of post going in and out. And the amount of congressional inquiries. The article also says the phone system will be re-vamped in mid February although I won't hold my breath! Also says they are pushing to have all countries with electronic processing pending a software rollout in late 2015. I imagine that would eliminate a lot of issues (lost documents etc).

    FY 2014 Statistics:

    709,000 cases received from USCIS.

    99,000 current family-based petitions.

    349,000 cases shipped to Post.

    2.6 million total cases.

1.4 million pieces of incoming mail.

3.3 million pieces of outgoing mail.

    1.7 million written inquiries.

    1.6 million calls.

    98,000 Congressional inquiries.

This is super interesting. I hope that the changes they are making in the processing of AOS will help avoid so many unnecessary checklists and help them get the backlog under control! I recommend reading for anyone stuck in the checklist phase :) thanks for sharing

  17. Hi Guys

My case has been completed by NVC, I received the letter today. It took pretty much the entire 60 days. No checklists.

Original scan date was 28 November 2014.

Problem is - I am already in the US (due to some emergency travel I had to make because my husband was undergoing surgery) on a visa waiver program. My flight back is not until April 10.

Does anyone know of, or heard of either 1. Postponing the interview date 2. Interviewing inside the US? My case is being handled by the US Consulate in Sydney.

It's a real drag having to fly back all the way to Australia!

    Any help would be appreciated

I am willing to bet that if you wait until you get your interview date and then talk to the embassy about your situation they will postpone. However it is quite possible that you won't be scheduled until April anyway.... it depends on your consulate. You can always call NVC and asK too. interested to see what people will suggest :)
