why does montreal gottaaaa be soo slow.... oh well...
It must be a much busier embassey! When I created my account I was surprised to see under the earliest appointment title that Montreal had no appointments available and Vancouver was Oct 27th.
I ended up taking November 24th ... so the extremely good appointment dates were lost on me and someone else will be able to scoop up that good fortune
-
After all my worrying the first Vancouver appointment is October 27th,..haha!

Just a note to people...at least processing at the Vancouver consulate. My case turned from In Transit to Ready yesterday so I sent Packet 3 (not following the "waiting for the second ready" rule that has been mentioned) and I received my packet 4. So... If people are on a time crunch or just eager, I would suggest sending in the packet 3 as soon as it turns ready ... and... you might get it the same day and not have to wait the extra days.
-
Our first "ready" came yesterday so hopefully it won't be too long before the second and packet 4.
I'm beginning to get nervous that I WONT be crossing before Christmas based on everyone's current interview dates but...holding out hope our plans will still work out
Getting so close!

Thank you, Ambitious_Adee!!

Dumb question...where are people seeing this "ready" and re-updated to "ready" to know you can send packet 3 after getting your case #?
Thanks!

I called back today (at 140pm EST) and was on hold for 6 minutes and they received our case today!
She gave me the call back in 40 days speech butbased on everyone else on this thread I will call back again this week and hopefully they have our #.
Getting there!

I called this AM for the first time and was on hold 13 minutes and there was no case number. Since there was no number to be had I was pretty happy my hold time was so short.
She told me it normally is taking 35 days (we're only on day 28 today) but I am going to try again in a couple of days just in case.
I was visiting my fiance in the US for 3 weeks so a lot of the time between NOA2 and now passed quickly but it seems to be in slow motion now that I'm back home.

Thank you both so much for replying!
If he can sponsor me alone then that is great news and makes things so much easier.
I really appreciate your quick responses.

My fiance does not have a tax history to submit for the affidavit (just a letter from his boss and his pay stubs). However, he does (newishly) make well above the poverty guideline and works full time.
Because he does not have a long work history or prior tax returns ...I am assuming we will need a co-sponsor for the affidavit of support? But if someone can offer an opinion if we require one even though he's got a good paying job now that would be great.
Also, we have 2 options for co-sponsorship. One is more eager to do it than the other but does not quite make 125% of the guideline (although does have 80K of assets) and makes over the 100% minimum.
Does a joint sponsor need to meet 100% or 125% of the poverty guideline? I have read posts suggesting each option and would like to know if anyone knows for sure what is correct.
Thank you!

Great, thank you!
It's been such a pain to get the US bank account set up that I was beginning to wonder if it was worth the hassle but I suppose it might be an asset in the long run.
Thank you all for your responses

I've looked through a lot of these threads and I have found some conflicting information. I am trying to find out if there is a way to bring my Canadian credit history with me to the USA. Is this possible or do you always have to start from scratch when building your credit history?
I know you can get a credit card with someone etc but this will not be a possibility for my situation. So I am just looking for information as to whether or not my Canadian history will pull over to a US bank once I have a SSN and add it to the account making it a fully functional "US Bank account" (because I bank with TD in Canada and have a TD USA bank account as well).
Sorry if this has been answered before...I couldn't find anything.
thank you!

Great! Thank you for your super helpful reply!

Probably a dumb question but why is everyone so eagerly stalking the NVC for the case #?
Just because you need it to do packet 3? Or are there other reasons I'm not seeing?
thanks!

Some states give a hard time getting a licence until you have that.
I just assumed I'd be able to drive so that's definitely something I better look into. Thank you
-
I could see some potential issues. He must be in the usa for your interview once you AOS. You won't be able to drive or work until you have your EAD so will you be comfortable being home alone in a new country without him?
Why can't you drive until EAD?

Hi how long did it take you for you to receive the RFE in the mail ? we have an RFE too and I am waiting for the letter in the mail to find out what is for
I got the email notification on August 11th and my fiance received it in the mail on August 15th.
It said in the email if we didn't have it by September 10th to call for an electronic version so some must take up to a month to be received. I hope yours arrives soon!

Hello,
Did you mail this with USPS?
I'm wondering if it matters which courier delivers the package.
Thank you.
It was just USPS, yes. The 2 day priority mail and added tracking. It got there safely with no issues
I don't think it matters though as long as it goes to the correct address.
-
Is your case in Texas or California?
All situations must be different because we received our response in 4 days after them receiving it (in California) BUT it did say on the paperwork that it could take until November.
-
We had a RFE and my fiance mailed the info in the provided envelope 2 day priority with tracking.
It got there on August 20th and we received our approval on August 24th (2 business days as there was a weekend in there).
So for anyone with a RFE it only set us back 13 days. It's moving very quickly in California on all fronts.
Now I guess it's the long 35 day wait to find out our case #
-
Spoke too soon... I just got emailed and we have a RFE.
I thought I was so careful putting the package together...but obviously I blew it somehow. So now we wait for the mailed copy to see what is wrong.

7/6 - Filed
7/10 - NOA1
7/14 - NOA1 Hard Copy
7/16 - Touched
Still waiting on NOA2 but people who filed 1-2 weeks later than me are starting to get theirs. Should I be worried?
I don't think so. Our NOA1 date is July 13th and I haven't received anything yet either.
If you look on the visajourney processing time thing it says they're currently working on July 4th. And I've seen other ones where people were approved a month or so after that date said they should have been processed.

I must be excessively dense but I don't see anywhere that it allows me to create an account.
I have just been doing that "check your status" thing but... can someone post a link to where I go on the USCIS website to make an account for this?
Thanks!!
For k1 fiancee visa 100% or 125% of the poverty guidelines?

I think with a letter from an employer and also your pay stubs you should be fine.
I had the same question regarding my situation and was told on a thread where I asked that same question that letter and pay stubs was considered enough (at least by the 2 people that responded that had applied and been approved with a letter and 4 to 6 months pay stubs).
My interview is also in November...or I would let you know how I fared
I also was told this by the Vancouver Consulate but I'm not sure if it would be the same at any other consulate: "Evidence of support is usually requested by the consular officer. There is, however, no absolute requirement that an affidavit of support or other public charge documentation be presented. It is only necessary that the consular officer be able to conclude that the alien is not likely to become a public charge. It would not be unusual, therefore, for a healthy alien of working age, applying alone, to be able to establish eligibility during the visa interview without the need for substantiating documentation."
