  1. Wow this blew up...

Let me clarify I'm trying to avoid doing anything that could be considered fraud. As much as I would love to have her stay I think it may be best just to bring her over on the B visa and have her as long as we can and have her go back. Then file to have her get her green card.

I wasnt sure if bringing her on a tourist tourist and then trying to do an AOS would be legal, however I see it kinda falls into a grey area in a way so I'll play it safe and just have her go back.

  2. I have a couple questions about this....

So we are planning on bringing my MIL over to stay with us for a few months after my wife has the baby so she can help out. I know that the B1/2 visas are good for 6 months for them to stay here. We just sent off my wifes 751 about 6 months ago (We just hit 3 years married in Sept). My questions are:
    1. When can my wife file to bring her mother here for permanent status?

    2. If we bring her mother here on a tourist visa is it possible to either A) extend the time she can stay, or B) File to have her become a resident without her having to leave?

    3. Whats the best option for doing this without committing fraud (I have no issues with her having to leave after 6 months but it would be a god send if we could extend it and have her stay)?

  3. Actually the 1 year should be in all states Geneva Convention

    About foreign driving licence

Tourists may drive in the US for up to a year with a foreign driving licence, provided the issuing country is party to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic (see art. 1 and art. 25 para. 1) or to the Convention on the Regulation of Inter-American Automotive Traffic (Washington, 1943); most countries are contracting parties. If your licence wasn’t issued by a country which is a contracting party to either of these conventions or if you intend to work or study in the US, you must obtain a driving licence (usually within 30 to 90 days) in the state where you land or where you’re a resident. This may result in the confiscation of your foreign or existing licence (or your American licence may be stamped ‘valid in state only’). You may need an American licence in order to obtain car insurance.

The same law SHOULD apply to K1.

Indiana... Just an FYI you need it translated, and it has to be on a letter head, with certification and something stating they are not related to you ONE PAGE ONLY. They will only issue an ID with the initial I-94 expiration date. Then they will issue one that is good until you your green card date... I'm not 100% on this date (Or Drivers license)

  4. I was at CSC, I had got my Congressman involved VERY early, like within 2 months.... They did ride them and set m all communications they had with them... I think it did help.

We have our interview now Aug. 4th... I feel all of your pain and it is not nice.... Sad thing is us doing it the legal way have to wait, but do it illegal and you will have everyone fighting to keep them here.

  5. So I learned I need a new bank....
According to them they have no way of getting the total amount of deposits for the last year... I was told to "Add them up" with the generous offer of we will reprint your statements for the last year for the small price of $2.00 a page.... Of course I'd be nuts to do that considering I have estatements... Let's see what they say now.

To drive my point home... after I get the letter I'll ask to see a manager and say I deposited over $50,000,000 last year... Where is it all at? I bet he can run something to show me right there what I deposited

  6. As part of the Affidavit of Support it requests a letter from the bank with date open, current balance and total of deposits. I think I might have just got a dingbat who don't know how to run a report (as I'm sure the bank software has to have this feature somewhere). When I originally asked for the letter she just started printing my monthly statements... My question is how important is the total amount of deposits for the last year? I asked for this about a month ago and have not got anything... I may go to the main branch Friday and see if they can get this for me.

  8. Hello fellow VJers....

We got NOA 2 and I am going through everything, since I am nerdy and techy (hmmm who would have guessed by my username huh?) I never made copies per se, instead I just saved everything in folders on my desktop, so I do have everything.... Except a copy of the money order we sent in, I searched for it but I can't find the receipt for it... Is this a big deal or no?

All the forms ect... I can just print and John Hancock again all the info will be the same if needed.

    Thanks
