  1. I did walk in a week early for my biometrics at the Lawrence office when I did the adjustment of status, I took proof I couldn't make the scheduled date. They were awesome, let me do it no problem. There was one other person there and it was a Tuesday or Wednesday I think. If they're not busy, the security officer said they're happy to take early bio people. I'm not sure the Boston office is ever not busy lol so it might be worth the drive to Lawrence. My bio letter came yesterday for an appointment on the 5th July, we are away that day so I'll be going one afternoon next week instead.

  2. Maybe Vermont is slow because of too many 3.5 pounds and 2" high applications? Really is that not an overkill. Our package was +/- 35 pages, about 12 well chosen photos with cover letter.

Wish you all the best on ROC!

I'm glad your roc was approved with such little paperwork. The general consensus for VSC seems to be throw the kitchen sink at them. I'd rather do overkill than have to deal with rfe. Whatever each petitioner is comfortable with submitting is the right thing to do, perhaps. I maybe could have omitted half of what I sent. I don't really care as long as I get approved.

  3. We discussed this couple months ago: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/580372-any-idea-why-vsc-is-so-slow-in-processing-roc/

It has nothing to do with the complexity of cases. They simply do not want to prioritize ROCs over other petitions they are processing. In 2013 VSC was running at 3-4 months, now 10-12months. Mine took exactly 11 months.

The director could order "all right VSC, let's burn those ROCs" and within a month, they could finish all of the backlogged cases. Unfortunately, the opposite happened last year and the director ordered "all right VSC, let's halt processing ROCs" and they went from 7-8 month waiting to almost a year now.

My question was based more on frustration at the slowness as opposed to asking for a reason. I know the reason. It doesn't abate the frustration though.

  4. I sent my packet on Thursday, it arrived Friday noon time, and they cashed my check today?! I was expecting to wait weeks... Hopefully I'll get the extension letter and biometrics request in the next month or so? We have a family trip back to Europe at the end of this year so I'm hoping that it'll be done by then. Although I keep reading of nightmarish long waits of up to a year plus rfe's. I sent everything but the kitchen sink so I'm hoping I don't get one!

Just in case it helps others, here's what I sent. It was 3.5lbs and 2" high by the time I sent it!

    - i751 form plus check

    - photocopy of green card front and back

    - photocopies of both our drivers licenses showing same address

    - irs tax return transcripts 2914,2015 married filing jointly

    - wills, poa and medical poa for each of us, showing the other as beneficiary/executor

    - proof of joint health insurance and that I'm a beneficiary to his 401k

    - quarterly bank statements from marriage to present day plus letter from bank confirming joint account

    - quarterly utility bills showing electric in both our names, Verizon in my name, Gas in my husbands

    - proof we co-own the solar panels installed on our roof

    - car lease, registration and financing details in each name showing same address

    - proof of joint car insurance since our marriage

    - explanation of why I'm not on mortgage plus proof of paperwork to show this

    - various travel confirmations in both our names since marriage and up to future trip in December 2016

    - various bills for furniture and household purchases from Bobs Furniture and Lowes, showing we both purchased things using our individual credit cards for our home

Hoping that'll do it! Seems pretty comprehensive (and heavy!)

  5. So... I keep reading that one every 3-4 months is fine but then people are getting rfe to provide more evidence. Should I just get every single one printed? Or will one every 3 months do? I've got loads of other evidence such as wills, poa, tax transcripts, health and auto insurance, etc. I not sure how top heavy to go? At the moment it fits in a priority box nicely. Adding more makes it too bulky...

Also how did you organize the contents? I'm acco'ing each type of evidence in one section. So one section for bank stuff, one for taxes, one for employment related benefits, one for insurances, etc. is that ok? Or should I sort into months, say statements etc for January 2014, everything for April, etc and then have separate sections for annual stuff like insurances and taxes? I'm clearly over thinking this lol....

  6. Your list is excellent.

Just a few things I thought as I was going through your list:

    - I would include more bank statements than every 3 months

    - Proof U.S. citizen is beneficiary of life insurance?

    - Any cell phone joint/family plan?

    - Is there a reason you're submitting the nursing school acceptance and FAFSA? I don't think those are necessary to include but congrats!

Here's a link on USCIS suggestion for assembling a package using ACCO fasteners. However you're free to organize as you wish.

Thanks for the tips, I was hoping every third month would be enough but I will probably get the rest of the statements printed then if it's absolutely necessary.

I completely forgot about life insurance for me. I'm a student and don't have much income, currently. Will it matter if I get a policy so soon to sending in paperwork?

We don't have a family cell plan, it just worked out that way randomly. He's got a pay as you go and I'm on a plan by myself. I thought I'd submit the nursing school and fafsa stuff as I have had to prove my identity and credentials to be accepted and I thought it might show government and other official agencies have also vetted me? Plus it shows my intent and commitment in my community to become a nurse? I don't know, probably immigration don't care about that lol. I just thought anything official showing my marital name and evidence of future plans would help.

  7. I know there's loads of posts like this, And I think we are all set, but can you comment or think of things we should add? Thanks!

    - i751 form and check for $590

    - cover letter listing all evidence and explaining that the petitioner isn't on the mortgage or deed due to US citizen bankruptcy and we will refinance once the 7 years is up, which will be 2017 and copies of mortgage and credit report to back this up, also applies to credit cards, we have separate ones due to the bankruptcy

    - copy of front and back of green card

    - petitioner will, medical and financial poa showing other spouse as beneficiary etc

    - US citizen will, medical and financial poa showing other spouse as beneficiary etc

    - copies of drivers licenses showing same address

    - proof of joint auto insurance since marriage

    - joint bank statements every 3rd month since marriage

    - married filing joint tax transcripts for 2014 and 2015

    - proof petitioner is beneficiary for life insurance and 401k

    - proof of joint health insurance

    - various utility bills from throughout marriage til present in both our names

    - hotel reservations in our names

    - nursing school acceptance and fafsa evidence in petitioners name

    - a handful of photos just showing us on trips, or with family members, throughout the last two years

    - several envelopes photocopied addressed to both of us

    - 2 affidavits from family attesting to bona fides marriage

Do we just put each sort of evidence in a paper clip? So all the bank statements together, all the health insurance together, etc?

Hopefully that's a pretty conclusive list and we will be approved without any rfe's...
