  1. What original documents do I need?

    Immigration status

To prove your U.S. immigration status, you must show us your current U.S. immigration document, such as Form I-551 (Lawful Permanent Resident Card, Machine Readable Immigrant Visa) with your unexpired foreign passport, I-766 (Employment Authorization Document, EAD, work permit) or I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record) or admission stamp in the unexpired foreign passport.

If your I-94 is expired, which it probably is do to the amount of time that has transpired while applying for EAD/GC, then you need to provide the above documents per SS website:

    http://www.socialsecurity.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm

Oh Thanks so much! Appreciated it! :)

    SSN in USA

You should be fine........ EAD will be used in lieu of GC

    Yes in USA.. Thanks!

  2. HI all! I wanna ask if the EAD and marriage certificate will be accepted to use for the name change in SSS card? Cause the SSS agent did notaccept my changes of name cause my i-94 was expired so she said to just go back when I got my green card already?

    Is that even true?

  3. Hi guys, We got married Last Nov 15 and we are on the process of AOS I would like to ask if Im allowed to visit my family in Texas alone for my husband is new to his work so he couldnt come with me. We are from Wi btw.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi all. we got married last Nov 15, 2014 and my 1-94 was expired last Dec 15 2014.. I got my SSS but couldn't change my name on it because we have done it after my i-94 was expired.. Our application to adjust my status are in process though

Can I still apply for a driver's license or temps test in Wisconsin even with an expired i-94???

    Thanks in Advance

  5. Here's a question for you guys! Im living with my petitioner/ sponsor with a different address. Basically it is their vacation house but we are going to live here until I find a work so I could share for a rental house. The address that we put on the k1 application is his parents house since he was living by then. We're going to get married in 2nd week of Nov though and I have been here for 3weeks already

Do I have to advise someone that im living in a different address (but the same state) than what we have put on application of k1?

Can I use this current address when we start to file for AOS?

  6. I noticed you NOA2 was last year. Your medical may be expiring. They've changed the rules on the medical, it must be current, within 12 months, when they adjudicate your AOS. Its no longer the rule to be current when your apply to AOS.

    link to find civil surgeons

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

BTW I'm a bit confused, first you were asking about needing a lawyer and now you're saying you have an RFE?

Sorry about the confusions. Hmm RFEs resolved a 2 months ago. And I just got here. Thank you for your feed back

  7. So I'm already in US 2 days .. My POE is San Francisco. Here for few days to spend some time with relatives before flying to my fiancé on Wi.. Question is do I have to print my I-94 before I can take my domestic flights towards my petitioner?? Thank you!

Also where can I get it? The IO didn't provide anything about it.. He didn't even ask me, just had my fingerprint scanned, gave my visa packet, said get married within 90 days and he freed me to go

    Thank you again

  8. Hey hi all thanks for encouragement.. I've got RFE cause the tax income of petitioner isn't enough so he had to find a job that will meet the poverty level. If we got married, will the pay slip be enough and letter of employment and that of ITR to send on filing AOS?

Also where do we get to find a civil surgeon? I checked the I-693 form and there really is a part of civil surgeon to fill up there. I have no issues with my medical exam though. Btw we are on Milwaukee Wisconsin

  9. Your visa was invalidated the second you cleared POE. Your legal status for being in the USA now is the I-94 (90 days).

You must marry within 90 days of POE.

Thanks for the quick responds. That's what I know but my sis was freaking out when she saw my visa validity. Now I have something to show to her. Thanks again hank!

  10. Congrats!! :dancing::dance:

There is not a $150 fee with the K-1 to get a green card. The Adjustment of Status (AOS) process is $1070, which you complete after you are married.

You must of completed your medical a few months back if you visa expires Oct 10th.

Hank I just want to clarify if we need to get marry in the US before my visa expires in Oct 10. Is that how it is??

  11. Totally OK to go visit your mother before heading to Wisc... so you will soon be an official cheesehead huh? Very cool!!

    Save travels!

Yay! and yes my fiance is addicted on cheese.. like omg

The fee you were thinking of does not apply to K-1, but you must do AOS filing once you are married here in USA. Deadling for filing = 90 days after your arrival, and fee on that is $1070.00

DId you do the CFO? No mention of that here; just wanted to make sure.

Hi! my CFO is on Friday Aug 29th.. and Thank You for the reply :)

  12. Guys thank you sssoooo much! And Hank yes I did medical last April , then got 221 g that's why..

Btw my fiancé is living on Wisconsin but I'm planning to go to SF first to visit my mother then fly to Wi after 5 days.. Would that be okay for the immigration?

  13. I got my visa freshly at hand.. I love what it says on the plastic "Important and Urgent" Thank You so much all Vj'ers for all the replies and gotta say i love this forum.. More power and Thanks also to Hank.. you have helped a lot.

So my visa will expire on Oct 10, Ive heard that there's a fee for the green card of $150+ before you get to US.. Is that applicable to K1 visa as well? Thank you!

  14. Here is a website that has a good review, with questions asked.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/496525-cfo-seminar-experience/

Ha! This is very helpful. Thanks greenbaum

Below are some of the things she told me they asked: (copy/pasted)

how we've met..how many kids, previous marriage...what happened why u divorced..how many time u had divorce. Ur number...cell p and landline...email address Basically the questions are if i really know u...name,b-day, ur moms maiden name, ur address, occupation, educ'l attainment. How many time i see u in person, did he come here to see u...how many days.. for how long u know each other..how u know him...who introduce u...Then they ask me about a copy of your passport to bring it if i have the visa

    Thanks again! :)

  15. Oh...and btw, you don't need half of the listed documents the VJ lists. Just read the requirements on the CFO webpage and add a copy of the petitiiners passport.

They do ask a lot of questions which isn't even their job description, especially since most already have their Visa in hand at the time of the seminar.

Oh wow thanks! Do you have any idea what question are they asking? I'm gonna attend CFO by the time I get my visa

  16. I get THIS:

    U.S. Department of State

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

    Administrative Processing

Immigrant Visa Case Number: MNL2014XXXXXX 01 MNL Case Creation Date: 03-Mar-2014 Status Updated Date: 18-Aug-2014

Where does it say if it's opened or closed?

Hi! It's just down that status. It's basically a description of your status though. And I think they will just put if your case is open is when your status says Ready

  17. Ok so 8/19/2014 my visa went back to AP and today 8/20/2014 my status says visa issued! OMG, thankYou so much for all the replies with special mention to hank you guys rock and helped a lot with support..

Now I just have to wait for the visa delivery. Again thank you so muccchhhooooo!!!

  18. So the CFO has new scheduling through online.. How does it work? I meant is it hard to get a slot for an appointment too? Should I schedule myself ahead of time or I can get a slot within the day and attend the next day?

    Any insights?.. Thank you!
