  1. Hi sorry for sounding ignorant, but could you share which URL or website you are looking at that gives you that information? I'm wondering if it's the same one that shows the AOS changing from PAID to NA before case complete..

It is almost the same! I go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

And click on "Check my Visa Application Status" (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==)

Enter Case Number, the one starting the the three letters. I can't remember what it says before the case has been submitted to the consulate for interview, but the status of the visa application may go from IN TRANSIT (to consulate), to READY (for interview), to ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING (after interview), to ISSUED (visa printed on passport). In my case, the "date status changed" was almost as important as the actual status, because the dates were updated, but the status weren't (remained Ready).

  2. Just make sure you allow enough time for the passport to be returned to you! Or wait until you have it in hand to be even more safe. Congratulations!

Thank you! In theory, there should be plenty of time. But I'm becoming convinced of waiting until having it in hand. My husband thinks it's better wait, so does my very pragmatic sister. Besides there's this whole glitch thing at the consulate, and our not so reliable postal service.

    Breath!!!

  3. CEAC is a bit nutty... But at least it looks like things are moving. :)

7-18: status "Ready", status date changed 7-18 (day of the interview)

7-23: most of the day status "Ready", status date changed 7-21

7-23: after 5:30pm Brazil time status "Administrative Processing", status date changed 7-22 (yep, as of yesterday).

Hopefully tomorrow or Friday it'll show Issued/ mailed!

I'd love to be able to buy my ticket!

Just checked CEAC, not expecting much of it and... Visa ISSUED (date status changed 7-23)!!!!

I think I can buy the ticket now :)

  4. I'll try that. Thank you!

I noticed now that even though the status says "Ready", "status change date" was changed July 21 (first, it changed July 18)... So maybe things ARE moving with my passport! Too bad I didn't pay attention to the date, nor did a screen capture after 7/18. Oh, this is a maddening process...

  5. FYI, CEAC does not always show the latest information. For my wife's case, it still shows Administrative Processing, even though I received an e-mail from ustraveldocs over 8 hours ago saying that her passport would be sent today, and then I learned from the courier (Pony Express) website that it was picked up from the embassy almost 4 hours ago. So now it's in transit, and I feel much better.

Here's something I found helpful. You can send an e-mail to: passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com, and just put the passport number in the subject line (nothing else in the subject or body of e-mail). You then get a pretty quick auto-reply that tells you what's happening. Earlier today, I received, "Your passport is still with post." But now, I get, "In Transit From Post." :)

But CEAC still says Administrative Processing...

Hi! Thanks for the info! I'm getting really nervous about my passaporte. It still says "Ready" on CEAC, since the interview last Friday. Is the email to ustraveldocs something particular to your country? Or do you think it'd also work for Brazil? Thank you :)

  6. I spent the day catching up on reading the posts. So many great news: yeaaaahhh for all approvals, welcome-homes (Sukie and Julie), interviews scheduled at last, new arrivals to the thread, and whatever else has made the good news pile!

I had a great vacation with my family last week (even with a 7x1 loss! It actually made the 3x0 loss not a big deal :)). In a couple of days my husband arrives in Brazil for our interview on Friday.

I'm freaking out: that's my nature and there's a chance I won't be approved just yet (a two-year residency requirement thing). But hopefully things will go well. I can definitely use y'all's good wishes :)

  7. On Julie's visa in her passport, she has the annotation: 212(g)(2)(B)

What does this mean? I looked it up, and it seems to have something to do with vaccinations, but she had all of hers, plus some!!!

Does she need to prepare some nice answer for this when she gets to the POE?

    Sukie

    Hi Sukie

I did a quick google search. Looks like this is just the notation showing that the officer gave her a blanket waiver for an incomplete vaccination record (for those vaccines that are not age appropriate, for example). I would think it's all good. (Since my vaccination sheet from the doctor doesn't have the "not age appropriate" box checked, but the doctor said it didn't need to, I'm taking all my vaccination records and that table with what's required/not required to the interview. Just in case. I also plan on having my big giant folder with me at POE, when that time comes.)

    Example:

  8. VISA APPROVED!!!

She just msgd me and I called her, she said interview was like 5 min long and they didnt see anything of extra evidence. I'll write visa review after I get full details. They did check the original documents since we didnt send originals of marriage certificate and birht certificate (russia only needs copy as long as u take original to interview since you cant get more than 1 original copy...russians :P )

    Very cool! Congratulations :)

  9. Wow- it was old home week at the Sydney Consulate this morning!!! Had breakfast with Snikit15 and her lovely family, and saw Jajaju and Razspaz13!!!!!

Julie has been approved!!! Now we wait for her passport to come back to us!!! Our Case Officer did not give us a time frame but I overheard the CO in the next booth say it would take about one week. One year ago today, we received our NOA1! Whew!!!!!

    Awesome news!!!! Congratulations :)

    APPROVED!!!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

I'm going to write a full report of our experience on the embassy review page. One thing I should mention is they asked us for the confirmation page that DS-260 was filled out online. Also, the question that says "are you immigrating to the USA with your spouse?" I put "no" since people on here said I wasn't immigrating, just moving. Which made sense. But the interview guy said it was wrong and changed it to "yes" saying I would move with my husband after visa approval.

Anyways, we're going to our favorite restaurant today to celebrate!!!

    THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! :goofy::goofy:(L)(L)

Also, I've been singing this song. Listen to the lyrics, it's perfect!

    Yeahhh! Congratulations!

  10. Hi!

A couple of good news. My husband surprised me this week with the news he's coming for the interview! We're still checking with the consulate to see if he'll be able to attend, but were both really happy that he's coming! No matter what, that Friday will end with caipirinhas (the national drink!).

Other good news: I finished with medicals today. I'm not sure how helpful this is to other cases, but here's how it went for me. The interview letter only stated I had to have the medicals. I went to the Brazilian consulate website and found out the doctor in my hometown that I needed to go to. I scheduled the exam and went there yesterday. The doctor did an overall checkup and asked for a chest X-Ray, blood work to rule out syphilis, and a couple vaccines I already didn't have (I had most of them, just needed a flu shot and something called Tdap - she said it somewhat new vaccine, so I had to have it). I did all the needed exams yesterday, got the results today, brought them to the Doc's office and after she reviewed them, she gave me the sealed envelope. (Now that I'm looking at the form, she didn't check off a few vaccines that were not taken as not age-appropriate. I'm going to give her a call tomorrow to see if there'll be a problem with that).

I asked the doctor for a copy of the form she filled, but she said she couldn't give it to me... She did give me the last page with the vaccines, so, at least I have that. It was strange because I have a copy of my Form I-693-Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination record that I did back in 2012 when we're doing an Adjustment of Status (I was in the US, the US doctor gave me a copy, no problems).

Side note: came across two K1 applicants who are having interview before my date, and have been on this visa road for 4-6 months total. Yeah, I know, unfair, right?! Oh well...

  11. I'm in Atlantic City with my oldest daughter just tying to keep my mind off immigration for a couple days. I hope they start giving us our interviews. This waiting is for the birds. Why can't they assign the interview automatically when they complete the case? Wouldn't that make sense?

Anyway... back to work tomorrow and back to calling the NVC. I hate both!!

Off topic: "This waiting is for the birds". Love this expression! I wish I had taken notes of the many new expressions I "heard" here on VJ :)

  12. I wrote "See Attached" for one of the years and attached a letter stating why I didnt file taxes and that income was below threshold that year and didn't get a checklist. So you don't need to "fill out the numbers on the form" ;)

btw so how often is it taking to receive interview email after it is assigned? frankly I'd prefer to never call nvc again if its less than a few days.

We received the interview email the day the assigned the interview date, exactly one week after our Case was completed. I'm not sure how representative that is of other cases, but it's definitely nice not to have to call them!!! And we were only calling once a week (our approach was to call at key times)

(By the way, loved your stats-based predictions. I really like this kind of stuff and hope I can work again with numbers/stats - my immigration ordeal has put me out of my field for the past 3 years, so I don't know if I'll be able to catch up.)

  13. do you get the case complete email first? Or can you get the Interview date before that?

Congratulations on case complete! Great news! I don't think we received case complete email yet. Nothing on my inbox and husband hasn't forwarded anything. Ours happened May 22. Our interview email was sent the same date as the letter is dated, May 29. We received the email before we even had a chance to call!

    :)

  14. Oh trust me, I know that September is the cheapest. But I'm a school teacher and can't fly anywhere unless it's in the summer or a week during Spring Break. So that's not an option. My point is that I want to go meet him as soon as I can instead of waiting around here until his interview. I don't work in the summer. So I don't want to be here without him.

Yeah... It's tough because the high season is exactly school break... If you have a bit of flexibility, look up early June flights to leave (oh, just realized, it is early June now - never mind...). Maybe July 4th (whoever is traveling for the holiday would have left already). After August 15th they tend to get better deals as well. Also look for flights leaving Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Depending on the destination, weekend flights have good prices, like Saturday night or Sunday. I've also heard buying tickets mid-week is better; weekends are not so good. I hope you find something more affordable.

  15. I'm in the same holding pattern as Life, Lucy, and Love. Oh, and LindyStephan.... what is it with the Ls?

I called tonight and got Ariel, and immediately told her I was calling on Skype, since they get nervous if it sounds like we are on speakerphone. She said nothing was new, it would take 30 days, and I could tell she was reading from a prepared script. (May 9 checklist scan).

So I put on my most pitiful voice, and asked her what the protocol was when the NVC reviewer had mistakenly interpreted a requirement. I mewled (love that word) that Australia only requires one Police Certificate, and that it was totally impossible to give NVC what it thought it needed. I said that our file had everything complete at the end of April, and here we were a month later, and that we'd be there for 20 years if someone didn't take a look at the file to see that the PCC request was a mistake.

She actually listened. And she put me on hold for a long time. And she came back and kept talking about the Queensland PCC, which I told her had been applied for and would be sent directly to the Embassy. She said that was fine. And then I said, why isn't our case complete then?

And she told me she was referring it to a supervisor.

Honestly - why didn't the first two representatives I asked for supervisor review do this?

Anyway, even though I don't have the news I want, I was thankful that someone finally listened to my sob story. I think being confused and asking questions makes them more human sometimes.

I don't think it is going to make any difference time-wise - as our mail would have been opened next week anyway, but honestly - if a supervisor looked at the file, it would be complete.

The only thing that was unfortunate was the Ariel read me the instructions they have: that you need an Australian police certificate from your state of residence AND ANY OTHER STATE WHERE YOU HAVE LIVED FOR MORE THAN SIX MONTHS. This is the the "incorrect" bit. It's their own d@MN*D instructions that are incorrect.

So why aren't any other NSW/QLD Aussies getting slapped with this????? Have all the other Aussies only lived in one state their whole lives? I cannot believe that.

Anyway - that's my status report. May 9th scanned input is still not being dealt with. But maybe I'll get good news soon.

    Sukie (now in Australia)

The request for unattainable documents is really messed up... I'm really sorry about that. I was wondering if it'd be worth it contacting the embassy/consulate about the incorrect instructions NVC has (act confused and ask questions :)). Maybe they'll correct it for future folks... Maybe they'll give you a break and schedule your interview earlier?!!!! Wishful thinking, I know, but, who knows... :)

  16. Really happy for you. It is good timing. Last soccer game I watched was in 1990! I would really be irked if my life stood still for an entire month for such a silly thing as the World Cup

Hope your brother gets well soon. We've been through this with my wife and can imagine the emotional stress to all involved, not to mention the physical trials of our afflicted loved ones.

Thank you! Yes, this World Cup was worrying me. I did not want to be traveling while it's happening, specially to Rio! And thanks for well wishes for my brother. It's definitely hard. I had most of NVC "good news" (milestones) coincide with his "bad news" (diagnosis, treatments). Bittersweet moments. We finally coincided on good news, as this week he received news of treatment being effective.

I hope all goes well for you!
