Hi all!
I went to an infopass appointment yesterday to get the I-551 stamp in my passport, I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else finds the information useful!
My field office is New Orleans. Green card expired August 2017 and I thought my extension letter (dated June 2017) meant my GC was extended one year from the letter date. The USCIS guy at the check-in window stated that the letter means an extension one year from the GC expiry date, and that USCIS have recently started printing the words FROM THE DATE ON GREEN CARD to avoid confusion and people turning up early to get their I-551 stamp.
I asked the check-in guy if I was still able to get my stamp since I was early, he shook his head no, told me they would not stamp my passport and I said that I would still like to see the officer/stamping person as I had other questions anyway.
I sat back down for maybe 15 minutes thinking about what I could say to get my stamp that day. I do not live in New Orleans and had to take the day off work, as well as my mother-in-law, to travel down to the field office.
I got called up to the infopass window, the guy was very pleasant and made small talk with me about England. Did not ask me any questions related to my need for a stamp, he typed up some notes on his computer and voila - stamped my passport with an expiry of next year.
I asked if the DMV would accept the stamp and he said yes - they will renew my license for a year.
My take away here is always ask more questions / ask to see the right person. I could have walked away defeated after what the check-in guy told me about being too early for my stamp.

If you have been following threads regularly and did a google search you'd find this info. I'd attach links but there are too many .
My letter doesnt state it either nor should it. Do you think USCIS wants to advertise and brag their processing times are so bad?
Thanks. I have made my infopass appt for May 31st
The reason I hadn’t been checking visajourney forums or google is because I was just riding along having faith that USCIS would provide another letter or some other information should the letter expire.
It wasn’t until the letter expiry date started to approach when I started to be more proactive in finding out more.
Lesson learned = don’t rely on USCIS to be informative.

USCIS will not send out another extension letter.
The I-551 stamp in your passport extends the GC one more while processing continues.
Is there a thread with more info on this? How did you find out this information?
My extension letter did not state to seek a I-551 stamp if the extension letter should expire, and you know USCIS hasn't been proactively sending out more information to filers.

I have not received anything at all.. last time i received something was last june 2017 for the bio appt then nada after that!!! So the 1 year extension expires this June.. so what do i do now? Does that mean the greencard expires then u can’t legally work? 😔
I am in the same boat. I think we can expect another letter, this should not affect our right to work.

Hi all,
It's been a while since I logged on here but was getting concerned that nothing has moved on my removal of conditions / 10 year greencard.
I filed in June 2017 and had my biometrics appt in July 2017. I then received a letter stating that processing could take up to a year and my greencard has a 1-year extension.
I see now from this forum that there are many people who filed before me that are still waiting on their 10-year greencard!

I got my work permit in the mail today after receiving an email update yesterday that it had been mailed to me
It took 62 days overall for me to receive it from the date of sending off my AOS package, so I am very pleased!

I had my biometrics appointment February 14th and received email notice yesterday that my EAD is in production and should be with me in 30 days.

This can't be right. Because then why would anyone from a country that can travel on the visa waiver programme bother to apply and pay for a K1 visa and wait an average of 8 months just so they can come back to the US to marry a US citizen? I don't think you can adjust from the visa waiver programme.
-
Thanks for your help all!
Pretty sure Louisiana state requires an unexpired visa to get the state ID and I'm kind of in limbo because I'm waiting on my EAD and greencard which is a long way down the road.
I'm going to go to the bank with what I've got and see what happens.
My husband needs to renew his drivers lisence in the next couple of weeks anyway so I'll go along as ask at the OMV exactly what I need for a state ID as the website is pretty vague for non-US citizens, as usual!!
-
Not sure if I am posting in the correct place but here goes!
I came to the US on a K1 visa, got married, filed for AOS + EAD last week just waiting on the NOA1s in the mail now. My I-94 has just expired also so I don't know if this is going to cause problems at the bank....
I'm going to Chase to open a bank account tomorrow and my husband called our local branch to ask what documents I need to bring and whoever he spoke to said my passport and SSN which is no problem.
I was just wondering if because my only photo ID is my passport in my maiden name and my SSN is in my married name will it cause problems? Should I take my marriage certificate and health insurance card as extra proof?
Hope someone can help! Thanks!!

Hi all,
I just received three emails and my husband three text messages from USCIS stating that my "case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center...." Etc etc and I should receive my NOA1/I-797 soon.
All six emails and texts had the same receipt number and when I checked this number on my case status online it stated that this is the receipt number for my EAD work permit application. Should I not have got a different number for the I-485 form too or is it following? I don't know how they process the forms in these offices whether they get split up and have certain people work on I-765 and others on I-485 so therefore you get receipt numbers at different times?
I did not apply for AP.
Anyone else experienced this?

I know this might sound a bit desperate, but I am SO over the waiting! My CEAC status changed to "Issued" yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Does this mean the passport with the visa in it was handed over to DX, and is with DX now? Or does it mean they still need to print the visa out and stick it in the passport? If it is with DX, I haven't got any text/email from them yet. I could at least call them and bother them about it. But if it is still at the embassy, I guess there's nothing I can do, right?
My CEAC status changed to issued on October 21st and then on the evening of the 23rd around 7pm I got an email saying I could go and pick up my visa the next day (24th) because I had selected to pick up from the depot.
So if it goes anything like my timeline you could get an email tomorrow or friday

Hello everyone!
I've been in the U.S about a week now and I still don't think it has quite sunk in yet. Maybe after that 90 day mark when I know I don't have to leave again.
I entered the U.S through Houston airport, was asked to wait in the secondary questioning room (third time I've had to wait there) while they checked my visa and the big envelope that the embassy sends you and asks you not to open. I was getting very impatient because even though I leave a decent amount of layover time between flights, the time it takes waiting in that room, then picking up my bags which are usually the only ones standing in the middle of the baggage claim room by this point, rechecking my bags and getting the airport shuttle to the next terminal - cuts it close!
So I was getting quite agitated sitting there and tired after a 10hr+ flight but the only question I was asked eventually was when was my wedding date and then I was free to go!
I'm not sure how bad other airports are at POE but for those entering through Houston and are connecting - leave plenty of layover time at least three hours!

I have no idea.
DX Couriers calls in everyday from what I can gather so it doesn't make sense if the embassy is hanging on to your visa??? Once it's issued, there is no further processing and it's just matter of DX collecting the visa from the embassy and delivering it back to you.
Have you spoken to DX or the embassy?
Rich
Rich!!!! I JUST got the email telling me I can pick it up from the DX depot tomorrow!!
What are the chances!

Visa Issued today.........................
Brilliant! Hope it doesn't take too long to get to you now. I'm still on issued.
Do you know if the London Embassy only sends out their couriers on certain days of the week?
-
Great news!!
I'm still on Issued.....
I had my heart set on a Sunday flight too haha!

I am waiting for my status to change from Tuesday last week. When did you notice the CEAC website change?
Rich
Since my interview I have been checking my status every day and it's being going like this (if it's any help):
15th Oct (interview day): Ready
16th Oct: Ready
17th Oct: Ready
20th Oct: Administrative Processing
Today: Administrative Processing this morning and when I checked again at 1pm it had changed to issued.
But from all the date changes on CEAC it seems they looked at/handled my case in some way every day.
I hope you get some good news soon. It must be horrible when you think you're so close and something else happens to keep you waiting.
-
Hi everyone.
I had my interview last wednesday and today my CEAC status changed from AP to Issued. I was wondering if anyone knew how long from being issued are you sent an email from the courier?
Thank you!

When me and my fiancé filed in January, I forgot to sign the G-325a before I left to come back to England.
I read that he could sign it and so he did, we didn't get an RFE.

I had my interview in London yesterday and was approved
Just eagerly waiting for my passport to be sent back to me, which I'm hoping will be next week.
It was a very straight forward interview - but a REALLY long morning. Lot's of waiting for such a short time up at the windows.
I'm going to write the review now!!
-
Hey,
I passed my interview today. So happy!!
Can someone let me know where I post my interview review before I forget it all ha ha.
Cheers,
Amber
Congratulations!!!
My interview is tomorrow morning - doubt I will get any sleep at all tonight.
Did you take photocopies of documents such as your birth certificate, or does the London embassy no longer require them??
-
Good morning everyone!
I received a letter this morning from the embassy confirming that my interview date is Oct 15th at 8.30am!! FINALLY!
I hope these next 20 days go by so fast as I am sure they will because I have so much to organise now
Just for those who want to know a rough timeline:
- I had my medical 15 days ago
- The interview date is exactly one month from my medical date
I still can't believe I am only about a month away from being back with my future husband after so much time apart.
For those still waiting...hang on!! This feeling is so worth it.
