Thanks for all suggestions. Was only with husband #1 for one year and it ended with me in hospital weighing 83 pounds, no wonder I don't remember the idiots birthdate! Extensive internet searching shows nothing. Will be going to camp out at vital stats tomorrow. The girl on the phone has said that they can see this stuff, but they can't give it to me!! Same with the divorce lady in Ottawa.
The amount of info I was able to get about my American fiancé before I even met him is absolutely staggering.

Just heard back from vital stats office, apparently they can't help regarding birthdates....I found a blurb on a different province that says you CAN get a certified letter of birth info on a previous spouse so am printing that to take to town.
I have the courthouse right and there is some kind of child custody/support record there for the date of the divorce, and now I have a "probable" file number from Ottawa so back to the courthouse.
It's the 325a form that wants birthdates and is driving me insane! Even once I have both divorce certificates I still need these wretched birthdates. I bet if this was a less civilised country I could slip someone a hundred bucks to accidentally turn away from their monitor for a minute....

This is in Canada. I can't believe I'm so stressed and haven't even filed the papers yet!!Apparently the record of my divorce is somehow missing at the courthouse where it was filed so there will be some kind of archival paper chase. Meanwhile I have to stay home waiting for delivery by courier of my birth certificate. Government officials here are very nice but aren't allowed to tell you things that are on the computer screen in front of them....I never dreamed my soulmate would be in another country!

Has anyone else had this headache and what did you do? I'm trying to find birthdates for former spouses-from 20 and 30 years ago. I did manage to get the divorce certificate for one- which does not have the birthdate on it. I can't get a certificate from the other as it doesn't show up at the courthouse and the central registry needs a birthdate to find it! I've done the google thing to no avail. I wonder if I should go plant myself at vital stats office- with a bucket full of money no doubt.....

I'm having this problem right now. Went merrily down to the courthouse and got divorce certificate from 10 years ago but not the one from 20 years ago! Am trying the national registry tomorrow, but I'm wondering if this is due to changing to electronic stuff, the child support record was there but not the divorce. I paid for the original event so I know it happened!
As a side note Oh my goodness Canada has the most expensive documents- 60 dollars for birth certificate, and 40 each for divorce....

Thanks, I was hoping that might be an option. I've never felt so helpless and frustrated in my life. I have a feeling that's something I'm going to have to get used to.
